    I would think you would need to take your digestive enzymes before the meal or at the very beginning for them to help. When you mouth starts watering when it senses its about to eat a meal, the body starts releasing enzymes. The more protein it senses, the more acid production happens. An acid environment kills the enzymes. So taking the enzymes after the meal seems too late. The digestive process has already begun and the stomach is more acid now.

    • @3glitch9
      @3glitch9 Před rokem

      Definitely. Our body uses a minimum of 1.5 to 2 liters of water daily just for respiration, perspiration, urination and bowel movements alone Depending on physiological makeup, underlying conditions, diet, activity levels, weather/temp exposures, emf/rf/elf exposures, pharmaceutical and otc med intake, the body may use 4 liters of water. If it's not replenished daily, or for weeks, months or years, there's no other outcome one can expect but illness and disease. The body will do whatever it can to create what it needs out of what it has, and will pull all sorts of resources from other systems to support more crucial needs. But it can only go so long before some of those systems deteriorate. I've seen stage 4 kidney disease completely reversed in 3 months just by quitting surgery drinks and increasing water intake to daily recommended amount. I've reversed by thyroid issues just by making myself drink 2 sometimes 3 liters of spring water a day. Which reminds me... low thyroid causes low stomach acid. Basically the same things are required for the both.
      The body requires Vitamin B1, zinc, and iodine to make stomach acid. Selenium too, and these are all also are involved in thyroid levels. Unfortunately, there are more people deficient in these than not. But you hear these requirements for stomach acid production from a Doctor, as they literally only "practice medicine" as they are direct extensions of the pharm industry. Their job is not to get to the root of the problem and cure the ailment, their job is to prescribe medications that treat the symptoms, if one doesn't work they try another med. There's a bit of plant material in pharms that will help symptoms a little, but there are far more toxins. Homeopathy had to be wiped out in the early 1900s otherwise it'd be obvious that chronically microdosing toxins is what is causing so many problems, since the opposite of microdosing the correct plants is beneficial. That along with Doctors not informing patients of what the body needs to maintain itself, like water intake. Doctors can literally lose their license if they start to tell people the healthy way to combat the source of their issues. And 99% of Doctors CHOOSE to go along with that insanity and prescribe pharms that cause more damage than good, rather than actually helping people! Yea the pharm may alleviate some of the symptoms, but the Doctor isn't instructing patients to meet daily water requirements. Later when new different symptoms develop from the pharmaceutical prescribed a year earlier, it isn't ever considered to be the culprit. And more pharms are prescribed to mask the symptoms. It's all sick twisted if you think about it.
      Interesting:
      "Adults need 12-15 milligrams of iodine per day, and everyone should be taking iodine supplements to make stomach acid and support the immune system, even if they are not considered iodine deficient."
      -Dr. Tennant
      He's got a youtube channel.
      Also, water needs to be non fluoridated, spring is best. As it interferes with iodine levels and was actually used in the 60s to treat high thyroid levels! Most people are chronically microdosed fluoride over their whole lives via tap water. The Lancet, which is the oldest medical journal in the world, flat our says fluoride is a neurotoxin.
      We are not even a shadow of our former selves.

    I wonder if low stomach acid can cause severe insomnia like I've had for like 7 years? I swear that my insomnia is linked to the low stomach acid. Yet if I take too many of the enzyme pills then I get heartburn and that will keep me awake all night too. Its hard to tell if I have too much stomach acid or not enough since both conditions can feel like heartburn-GERD.

    • @produceman13
      @produceman13 Před 3 lety +4

      @@sueali5219 I really did figure out some great stuff. I fixed my insomnia as soon as I did what they call "intermittent fasting". So now I only eat two meals a day and then fast for 16 hours until I wake up the next day for breakfast. On top of this; I met an Australian shaman that told me garlic has magic when it comes to potentiating relaxing herbs like Kava root. So I started eating 1 minced tablespoon of raw garlic ultra minced gulped with water once a day, [usually before a kava session 8 hours into my fast]. I also let the garlic set out 15 minutes after mincing so that it forms the compound "allicin". Doing the garlic every day made my stomach acid very strong and is one of the best things ever. Just make sure you have a cup of water to gulp the tiny garlic pieces down cuz it burns pretty bad in the stomach... I also use lemon juice, or wine to increase the stomach acid too. I use Kava if my stomach acid is too high as a belt of it will flatten heartburn. Also baking soda, about 1/2 teaspoon will flatten most heartburn. Its up to you to figure out if you have to much or too little stomach acid. It takes a lot of practice. Pay attention to your gut feelings. For me low stomach acid hurts more than burns. And heartburn burns more than hurts. But they do feel very similar.

      The lack of stomach acid causes SIBO and that causes insomnia. I've been dealing with it for years but the last year has been hell after I took antibiotics. I have SIBO now but I'm fasting for 3 days then I will start eating with the Bertaine Hydrochloride HCI. I hope this stuff works as hydrochloric acid would. If it doesn't, my doctor will prescribe HCL.

    • @produceman13
      @produceman13 Před 2 lety +1

      @@annie.bo.briggs Good luck. I still struggle with insomnia. It makes sense that the SIBO would take over with low stomach acid! Thanks for that insight. I took the Betain for awhile but then stopped as it seemed to be overkill... meaning I'd get too much stomach acid and then heartburn and that kept me awake all night. Its real hard to regulate the right amount... Lately I just use cider vinegar, lemon juice, beer and wine to increase it cuz its more natural and balanced vs the pills. Lots of probiotics really help too like Kefir, Yoghurt and Kombucha. Some of the best sleep I got during my 10 years of insomnia was when I start to drink a lot of dry beers around X-mas time. I personally think most bacteria can't really handle the alcohol and increased stomach acid from booze. I know the liver turns alcohol to sugar, but not before it kills lots of bacteria in the stomach...

    • @iwonderdoctor6384
      @iwonderdoctor6384  Před 6 lety +20

      Hi Mark: Discovering the optimal way to take digestive enzymes and Betaine hydrochloride (hydrochloric acid) is best determined by personal experimentation. I learned the most from a patient of mine who had had a total pancreatectomy, thus had no significant digestive enzymes of his own. What he found that worked best for him was to start the meal with a few bites, take an enzyme capsule, then eat a few more bites, then take a second enzyme, etc. etc. How many enzymes would be taken with each meal would totally depend on the complexity of that meal. For example, for a meal that contained a lot of protein, such as meat, chicken, fish, etc, it would be easy to take a total of 6 or 8 enzymes. The actual number ultimately would best depend upon your own sense of improved digestion with the enzymes. You will be supplementing your own internal pancreatic enzymes, so how much you need will depend on the effectiveness of your internal enzymes plus the enzyme supplements you are taking. Some folks have a good internal sense of this: they can feel the improved digestion, with less bloating, gas, time you feel "full" i.e. the time the food is remaining in the stomach, etc. Now let's talk about when someone is also supplementing Betaine hydrochloride. Dr Wright, in this video, describes the way "Nature" does it. The first phase of digestion following chewing (ever so important!!!) is the stomach acid phase. Thus Dr Wright suggests for those wanting to improve digestion is to start with taking Betaine hydrochloride (again, how many, depends on complexity of meal, how well you have chewed it, and how much acid supplementation you actually need as an individual). And, "Natures' sequence" would be that the pancreatic enzyme phase follows the stomach acid phase, thus you would follow, perhaps 15 minutes into the meal, and after the Betaine Hydrochloride phase, with taking enzymes. However, "Nature" actually has an intervening step, in which the pancreas first neutralizes the stomach food/acid-laden bolus with bicarbonate, and then secretes the enzymes. The enzymes are denatured by acid, therefore that bicarbonate neutralization phase is important in Nature. We are not doing that with Betaine Hydrochloride + enzyme taking (hmm, that might be an experiment to try some day: taking baking soda just prior to taking enzymes!). Thus, the usual process is to take the enzymes after the Betaine hydrochloride... Why my answer is so long is that because my ultimate suggestion is for each individual patient to experiment: whether to take just enzymes, or whether to also add HCl, and, how many and which sequence to take each, the enzymes and the HCl. Many folks benefit by enzymes alone. Many others also benefit by the addition of the Betaine hydrochloride. One more caution: if you already have tummy ache from acid reflux, if you are going to use Betaine hydrochloride (often beneficial in the long run for healing reflux!), caution in the beginning. Open up a Betaine HCl capsule and for your first try, take just a fraction of the capsule to make sure you don't get a burn. If you do, drink a half glass of water with a tsp of baking soda in it to put out the fire. Because of the possibility of the acid denaturing the enzymes, some folks do best by taking the enzymes first, and then, at 15 - 20 minutes into the meal, to take the Betaine HCl. I apologize for the length of my answer. The issue is that our natural digestive process is so elegant... when it becomes important to supplement enzymes, and/or hydrochloric acid, it is a discovery process to customize the method to meet your own personal needs. And, it is a discovery process that can result in great benefit in so many ways! Good luck. I'd love to hear how it goes for you. My direct email is drr@iwonderdoctor.com. Warm regards,
      Dr R

      Dr, thanks for the thoughtful reply back! The experimentation process is actually pretty frustrating as well, since there are varying degrees to how you feel, and sometimes, as crazy as it sounds, it can be tough to tell if something is working or not. You may be feeling temporarily poor on one method (but don't know if it will be temporary), so there is this internal battle that goes on questioning whether to stick with it as it may turn out to be the best way, but how long can you see through feeling sub optimally, and is there really light at the end of the tunnel? There are so many varying accounts of the sequence in which to take HCL and/or Enzymes, but I rarely if ever see Dr's putting a precision stamp on the timing of when to take the supplements. Usually they will generally state an opinion like "take x before" or "y" after, but there is no specific timing beyond that. It's definitely a fascinating subject, and I'm sure there has to be a method that works best for most.

      Hello: It is very important to find your own dose of HCl First, to get an idea about whether you need it or not. Second, to start with as low as does as you can find (325 mg tabs do exist, or, if you have tablets you can break them up, or even with capsules, you can empty the capsule and divide up the powder)...and take the HCl with a large meal, and in the middle of that meal. Then determine if you tolerate that. Any pain or discomfort at all = dose is still too large. If you tolerate a dose, you can then always gradually increase the dosage over time. You will eventually will get a feel for HCl and whether it is good for you and what dosages are for you. If you are supplementing digestion with HCl you most probably could benefit by terrific chewing plus digestive enzymes. Best to you, Dr R
