Man great video. I’m doing whole floor for an 88 Nitro MX250 and I was stressing over the center console being one whole piece with the hull cap. You saved me so much headache by doing the exact same thing you did. Will give you a shout out when the finish product is revealed
I have a very similar boat I'm about to redo on my channel, I'm so happy I found your channel because I have soft spots in my floor where you are redoing yours and it seems to be a very difficult task.
Thanks for the info. I recently acquired a 1997 stratos 268 that has a couple of soft spots in the floor. It's a dual console though. I wasn't really sure of the best approach to fixing the flooring.
Great video I’m going to try and tackle this also. We’re you able to inspect the stringers after removing the floor? Also , is it necessary to fiberglass over the floor board or can you just carpet Over the plywood? Thanks
I could see the stringer but it was incased in fiberglass. I guess you could cut plywood and lay on top of the old. That would make that job way easier but it probably wouldn’t last very long. That area sees a lot of water
Did this boat not have foam? I have seen some with and without. I am about to start my floor rebuild soon and was curious about why the concern if it’s wet or not. I have no idea if I do or not but planning ahead. Also if stringers at bad any ideas for replacement?
I’m about to redo the flooring near driver monsterious crack that loves to flex when I step on it (240 lbs) and passenger and step up to the bow I .noticed you used wood , what thoughts on maybe using aluminum or coosa borad instead on sheet ply wood ? How thick of a sheet were you using ? Have you maybe thought of using or adding carbon fibre Mat for rigidity? LOL I’m drunk at 5 am and have questions man ! LOL
I didn’t think about aluminum. As soft as aluminum is you would probably get flex with it too but not as much and you wouldn’t have to worry about going thru it. I wanted the original look and feel of fiberglass. I plan to jump back on this boat this winter and try to get it finished. The family wants the Yamaha done right now so we can use it this summer. So I been spending a lot of hours on it. Should have some videos of the work I did on it soon
The plywood was for support to hold the fiberglass. The strength is in the fiberglass. Carbon fibre is cool and really strong but I have had this fiberglass for years and it was free. Lol. Carbon fiber would be a little more expensive than free. Lol. I will try and answer any questions you have bro. Drunk or not. Lol

Awesome
Thank you for the hard work and taking the time to film and edit. Good video big guy
Thanks
Excellent, I'm working on my 86 Skeeter! Great ideas!
Always nice to know what you might run into. I think those skeeters are all fiberglass. So there shouldn’t be wood in it. Which is awesome

It’s a pain in the butt. What’s your channel

It’s a lot of work but it’s solid now

I'm just starting my 1st rebuild. I'd like to see your tools an techniques. Thanks .
I don’t have any crazy tools. Just a dewalt skilsaw and a palm sander. Cordless drill. Sawsall. Jig saw. What ever works best for the situation.

No foam. If stringers are bad it would be a big job. To me it would not be worth fixing. Be better off finding a replacement

I’m sorry. This was one of my first videos and I didn’t have the stands needed to keep the camera at the best angles
