- Russian troops finally raised their flag in Avdiivka last Sunday - handing Vladimir Putin his first victory since taking nearby Bakhmut last May, and one conveniently timed for next month's Russian presidential elections. True, only a leader like him would see anything to boast about: the grimy industrial town of 30,000 is a third of the size of Scunthorpe, and taking it has required the lives of an estimated Russian 20,000 troops. But it is hardly the finest hour for Kyiv's foreign backers either.
For Avdiikva's fall is not just a story of Russian brute strength, but about faltering Western support. Thanks to dithering over US and EU military aid packages since the autumn, Kyiv's forces are running dangerously short on every front: artillery, drones, manpower - and, to some extent, morale.

It is a different gauge to the gun barrel. the biggest problem for Ukraine is that the artillery gun barrels need replacing after so many firings. they do not have the facilities to repair them and they have to be sent back to Poland. it is the same for Us equipment as well something the Us has just admitted, they supply the bradleys and tanks but not the way or spares to repair them. All the different types of equipment are a logistical nightmare for Ukraiane, they all need different spares etc .
Sounds like the neutrality deal of March 2022 negotiations in Turkey was a far smarter idea than caving in under US demands to ditch the deal and keep fighting, based on promises of "unwavering" support.

Ask Ukraine, much better. The countries supporting Ukraine have each been connected to a certain region or area where they will conduct the reconstruction. The various reconstructing tasks will be delegated to various companies according to the local laws of the country in charge of the reconstruction in the given area. So in the end one must ask each individual country what their plans are. As a side note some reconstruction started already two years ago.

Russia's military budget was about 84b in 2023, and in which Ukraine received about 100b in foreign aid, Zelensky's leadership is a joke.
Russia cost only 1/4 compared to ukraine
And Russia use only 30% of full power
Zelebsky sold his own people for cash
And a lot of Russias military budget goes for the stuff that is useless in this conflic like the nuclear forces, submarines, bases in the arctic etc

The problem with resupplying Grad 122mm rockets is that most of the nations that use them are now in the Russian / Chinese sphere of influence. They're not made in the West so much.

The main problem for the West by making Russia an enemy they lost a powerful friend, with Russia on the western side they could impose sanctions on iran and North Korea, but now the West with Russia as it's enemy will have to confront powerful nuclear armed foes like North Korea, iran and china .

It went to US arms manufacturers. Ukraine was given old equipment as well as munitions which were coming to their use by dates and the US taxpayer would have had to pay for their disposal.

the first victory since Bakhmut,? so they never destroyed the Ukrainian offensive, they never took Marinka, They never took the villages near Bakmut where has the telegraph been sleeping. There are not thousands of missiles in the West either. when they do get missiles they use them, to shell civilians in Donetsk city.
The war never went in Ukraine's favour, the schools and houses he mentioned were all empty. Unlike the same hospitals, orphanages schools, market places in Donetsk city that this man and his ilk were shelling. Why didn't he ask him about that?
AS for the rubbish about only a leader like him, he should know that Avdiikva' had been a Ukrainian stronghold, heavily fortified and used by them to attack, and shell Donetsk city, The Russians captured it by only taking 1/10 of the city, a good strategy rather than Brute force which was how the Wagners took Bakhmut, apartment by apartment, block by block. This was a less bloody battle for the Russians after the initial feint to the North done by DPR regulars and ex Wagner, the actual number of Russian lives was less than 2000 and the Ukrainians lost at least twice that number, over 1000 on the final day with nearly 700 prisoners..

Russia only lost 5000 sailors when the Japanese were kind enough to educate them in naval warfare back in 1905. The Russian navy is presently losing to a Ukrainian navy which does not exist.

EU NATO members like Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain have thousands of decommissioned Tank, Aircraft and Anti-Aircraft Missile systems setting used in Storage that could be sent to Ukraine but i'm guessing the want Ukraine to pay for those weapons ?

how many are serviceable?. how many fit the equipment they have? how long will they last in the battle? the more modern ones are being wiped out. Most of the ex-warraw pact equipment was used up. they send crap t Ukraine so they can then buy newer stuff. Missiles also have a shelf life. if they were not decommissioned and if they were they would have to be re-armed surely. Given that Nato cannot produce new weapons how will they rearm really old ones. Look how long it took Germany to repair those old leopard tanks.
