Abe sees the inconsistency of America's foreign policy, which changes every time the president changes. He saw that Japan with its economy and population could play a bigger role in world politics, economy and security, not just as a "loyal ally of America".

This video perfectly shows the legacy of Shinzo Abe. You can say anything for if his motives or his actions were controversial but in the end he took the entire National Security Strategy and Foreign Policy of Japan to make the country still relevant as a regional player.
He is probably the modern day equivalent to Ronald Reagan in this regard. And his memory is still relevant in Japanese politics even after his death, the State funeral proved this.
The only question is Japan will find itself along two paths in the future, one that will maintain the course of a regional power that only intervenes when it's national security is at stake. Or try to turn itself again into a great power which will impose it's interests upon others. I am curious to see where this will lead.

Well the second option is now almost very hard because the only time Japan could do that is when China was internally squabbling and it was the eastern “Sun” but now I highly doubt it’ll be able to,Considering it’s always squabbling with S.K which is suppose to be its ally and a United front against China & NK 😅

Japan with its geostrategic plans, its alliances and partnerships is increasing its overall regional role in the Asia Pacific. Just as important are its economic alliances through the CPTPP, participation in RCEP, FTA with the EU and its investments throughout the region as well as Africa is good. However, to become a great power, Japan will have to reform its economy to make it structurally more efficient and dynamic to no longer stagnate but prosper (immigration like Abe started, break monopolies, less crony capitalism).
There's still lot to do for Japan's economy for sure

PM Abe knew his place as a PM: He was a hero to the young boys and girls of Japan, in historical debates and interviews, and never forgot the importance of the blood, toil, labor, and the great sacrifices of the Japanese People during his tenure!!
He was very humble, sweet, and kind-hearted person, open to NEW INNOVATIONS along military lines and social lines. He admired....or, at least, was very kind and hospitable to...foreigners and technology.... and I admired him and truly respected him, deeply. He is missed.

I once watched a video made by a writer about the monopoly of high-level political power by several big Shikai families in Japan. I think japan and indonesia should commit to build close allies relationship to secure major maritime route in region

With defending indonesia, it allign with japan FOIP policy and have less risk with involved with american foreign conflict
As both country (and their neighbors) have similar worries with china expanding in the region and wish to protect the maritime route in the region
Japan also could export their arms sales to indonesia to gain more power together
Well there talks that Indonesia was gonna buy Japanese Mogami frigates but waning political and financial support for these programs make Jakarta a less prominent actor in the Indo-Pacific, despite its high potential. Widodo hasn't mentioned that much the Fulcrum policy in his second term as well. For sure if Jakarta was more consistent it could become a powerful regional actor.
@@Kamome163 jokowi has always been keener on economic affairs rather than defense ones. His administration has put much of its attention into upgrading and building new infrastructure, as well as increasing economic development across the country outside of java. But if his successor comes from a military background like prabowo for instance, we can expect more military development in the near future.

That’s a good take. Do you remember how during the constitutional interpretation changes period, so around 2015 ish, Abe was at the eye of a media storm. The problem is and was that the media should give factual informations but oftentimes those are somewhat biased and skewed by political beliefs.

He also understood history, in his own place and for the future of the native Japanese People. True. I heard that there had been a pivotal moment where Japan today would've been allied with China and Russia, when the US had initially chosen Kyoto as the target for the nuclear bombs. Okinawa as an example they say that there are Japanese protesting in numbers to get the U.S. out of the shores of Japan and welcomes the CCP. The problem with that rhetoric is those are Japanese citizens. Reports have counted 2/3 of the protests are North Korean spies, South Korean protesters, and CCP spies. All of them have pretended to be Japanese and only serve to destroy Japan. Hokkaido has also been projecting that the Ainu were taken of their land in Hokkaido. Yet the reports say that many if these radical Ainus have been payed by the CCP. I would know is because I went to the Ainu museum. Historians in Japan that have studied on this matter have pointed out that the fabric and tools they made were fabricated and say that these people lived in wood with aluminum roofs were faked. Ainu came from Kyushu and were later pushed back to Hokkaido. The Ainu pretend they were being oppressed, but they did horrible atrocities to the Japanese civilians and that is why the government forced the Ainu away and up north. The left another thing about the left is how they keep pushing back the Japanese government to weaponize Japan because of the threat of China, Russia, and North Korea. I can even list out politicians in Japan that praise Communism and wants Japan to have better relations to China like Kono Taro. He also made controversial apologies to Korea even though the U.S. government have done some investigation under the Clinton administration called the IWG(Interagency Work Group). They went in to debunk the CCP and Korean government claims of Japanese war time atrocities. I would look them up since they talk about myths and fiction vs the truth. The far right in Japan would say get America out of the country of Japan and not thinking of the consequences of Japan being captured by China. Both the far left and far right of Japan are fools since they have very close ties to China in ideology.

Abe pretty much became immortal after becoming the first prime minister in Japan to be assassinated by a gun.
He wasn’t after he got sick he had to resign from being prime minister. Stress got to him and he was known for having a poor immune system since he was born that way. He got weakened is because of the constant barrage of the Japanese Communists, CCP spies, Korean impersonators. He had a lot of push back and he had to recover. When he tried to rise to power again the Communists made sure Abe will never be the leader of Japan because if he did it would be the doom of China.
Rest his soul.
Maybe After 10 years, most Japanese will know what Mr. Abe left for Japan.

EDIT : The military part disturbs me a lot though - didn't US recently say they would pull out of Japan? In this precarious time? I think that's not a good move for Indo-Pacific alliance with the US. At worse, China could take over in good faith.

@@murderofcrows2179 it requires majority support in a public referendum and majority support in the diet in order to repeal it. The diet support is already there since the LDP has been the biggest party in power for decades, but public support isn't quite there yet. It's growing steadily but it's not there just yet. People didn't see the need for it until North Korea and china started getting more aggressive
