@@retrosuperswagg it's everything you could ask for. it's sad, inspiring, and at times funny. tho it's not the comprehensive "how i write all the songs" book that i wish it was, there's gonna be a lot of time for those years later i hope, but she does so on the songs which were important to the story. it's so cohesive. she's telling a story with recurring characters and moments which would be important later on in the story. as an avid reader, it's so engaging. so honest. better buy the audiobook as well. wonder what she'd sound like singing her old songs or songs that you wish she could've sung live before? she basically re recorded acapella for those interspersed between chapters!

I LOVE READING the very few old comments before Mariah finally revealed this is her and the lambs came on full force. It shows these songs were appreciated by a few people but really loved by them and then it sorta disappeared into the ether.

How did none of us put together that Mariah was behind these songs!? The physical album had no liner notes so that no one knew who the producer, writer and vocalists were lol. And the lead singer Clarissa was Mariah’s roommate and comes out in the Anytime You Need A Friend (Soul Convention Remix) video that Mariah just dropped recently. The butterfly’s in the Demented video by Chick and Jack Mariah’s dog coming out in this video. We were so blind lol! Had this happened in the age of social media the internet would have picked up on it immediately! But I guess back then our detective skills were limited to our resources. I wonder what other secret projects Mariah has hidden in plain sight???
It makes perfect sense now because Mariah has mentioned before that she used to have a band with her roommate back in the 80s when they were hustling in nyc and they written a few songs together 😂😂😂

Saw this video one morning on Mtv at 6am getting ready for school. Recorded the video as usual and because MTV never played it again this song was deemed special to me. Kinda like when 120 minutes plays a video one time only. Classic in my world!
Like me seeing Eleven**...but then they were mostly used as mysterious background music for crap like "Dead At 21" (also appeared on Beavis and Butthead). But at least there's plenty of info about Eleven.

Doesn't change how I feel about the song but I never thought the thought to read a book written by Mariah Carey would cross my mind.....ok maybe an audiobook......with the lead singer of Chick narrating because if this is finally coming out the she need to come out of hiding. I wanna see the local news from the wonderful town of "Chick" within the next few weeks on this while this is fresh in our minds.
@@JBryisTheGuy Well Mariah has the original demo with the safeguarded version of how she wanted the album to come across. She's the one singing lead. In the version that is circulating, Mariah is singing co-lead and background with this woman who is a friend of hers...as the face. This is a Mariah project where she wrote the songs..Not sure why she is an afterthought in your comment.
@Pril Just realised I began this thread under my sports entertainment account and responded through my music account just to clear any confusion. But I wouldn't consider either one an afterthought. I listen to both still to this day, that's why I come back to this video every now and then. With everyone being on a 90's kick I'd gladly point new ears to this song as the blueprint for the sound these 90's alternative nation bands are trying to recapture. In that regard Mariah had her ear on the pulse in a multi-genre, multi-faceted sort of way and that is to be commended. Also I was not aware of a demo in her vault as that is a fascination of mine. Both demos and demos in vaults.
Honestly if they had really bothered back this song could have caught on, it's catchy and the vibe is there, it does sound like all the music that was spinning all day on the radio and MTV.

If you see what she wrote about the album, she would create the concept of the songs in like 5 minutes and it was not supposed to be taken seriously as alt-rock. For anybody hating, she said it was just for a laugh and as a release for what she was going through. She created this during her "Daydream" sessions, one of the best albums to ever exist. This was just a joke album and imo its still really good. If she ever created a proper alt-rock album, it would be so good right now
Even though we're used to hearing Mariah in her angelic R&B voice, she doesn't always have to sing that way. This grunge/alt rock album was a complete deviation from what she normally puts out, but it was also necessary after a music exec tried to put her in a box limiting her freedom on how she's supposed to sound day in and day out. This was like a big FU to him.

Beavis and Butthead brought me here 9 years ago and since then I fell in love with this band but sadly this band was literally unknown, no wikipedia page, no songs in Spotify, I couldn't even find the name of the lead singer. Now that Mariah said that she worked with this band I hope this band gets the fame they deserve :) Really this band is so awesome but so underrated :(

@@kylerill The band is literally Mariah and her former roommate who is in this video with Mariah's team playing the instruments. Mariah wrote these songs as a way to escape the emotional things that were impacted her at the time and all the control she was under. With the songs that you probably heard, Mariah is singing co lead or background vocals...she wrote the songs. The original album with her singing lead is under wraps that only she has at the moment.

This album is amazing! I have not stopped listening to it since I first found out about it from the memoir. Clarissa absolutely killed it too. She doesn't get enough credit. I do hope Mariah releases all the songs with her original vocals one day though because I so badly want to hear it. Both ladies created a masterpiece that is massively underrated. Can anyone recommend any similar albums?

I was a little bit shocked when I found out that Mariah did a secret rock album during Daydream. It’s not my style of music, but it’s a fun track and I like the video as well, partly because Mariah directed it herself. As a huge Mariah fan/lamb, I applaud her for using the Chick album as a fun outlet for her to get out her anger and frustrations about her toxic/controlling marriage to Tommy.
Yes, this video was on Beavis and Butt-head and is the best I've seen from a teenager acting like all rebellious and fun.
