Welcome! These musical clips are from a large video collection that is now being converted from VHS/Beta to digital. There is some viewing quality loss from the original video source due to the age of the tapes, but the performances are preserved and still a joy to view. For all that dont know this is the same event she sang her best version of over the rainbow in the red dress where she begins to fly!! Plus martin luther kings wife specifically asked for her to sing at this event that celebrates the first martin luther king Holliday I believe. So it was historic!

I watched Ms. LaBelle from a side stage mezzanine box at the Academy Of Music in Philly during this period sing this opening and it was UN FRIGGIN BELIEVABLE!!! Every note was true...and then did about a 2hr show that ended with "Over The Rainbow"..with the same power and verocity!!! VIVA PATTI LABELLE!!!
