I have a head canon that Cloud was wishing he was with Tifa, CID wanted to actually fly the thing and do stuff and Vincent was either sleeping or thinking about Lucrecia (CID didn’t want to endure the torture alone with Cloud and Caut so he dragged Vincent too)

Talk about bottom of the barrel. Everyone else must absolutely loathe Cloud to get that date. Were it not for having to fight a tournament the next day, it could've been a decent session of drinking. A bit too short for that I guess.

The bit where Cloud says "They ARE soft" about Red's paws is a nice all back to the discussion between Cloud, Red and Aerith on the cart tracks on the way to North Corel
All the dates reference a non-optional scene in the game or in other ff7 related game. Like red and his paw as you've mentioned. Barret mentioned his wife which we saw on the temple trail. Tifa in Gongaga where they almost kiss. Aerith talks about finding the real Cloud and interlocking fingers before and during battle respectively. Yuffie...i'm not too sure. Crisis Core, due to her reference to Zack? Her rooting for C x T to kiss? Cloud and the boys night out is pretty much nothing. Which explains their current feelings for one another that they have not bonded yet or they're a bunch of guys who are too cool for a heart to heart talk.

Absolutely! I had the BIGGEST grin on my face when I got her on the Skywheel. I worked so hard to make sure I got her to max affinity beforehand.

I felt the kiss was kinda forced. While I do think it’s Cloud + Tifa and Aerith + Zack (I’m not a shipper, that’s just the dynamic that always struck me as more natural) it doesn’t feel natural that Cloud would just boldly kiss her out of nowhere, in his current state of mind. This felt purely like fan service. The Aerith date feels much more natural and again, I wouldn’t put them together as the couple.
I mean, in the POV of Cloud keeping those feelings to himself since childhood, it wouldn’t feel unnatural. ☺️

It’s so hard not to be nice to Red I feel. Like I got him over Aerith and tifa and I used a guide for both the girls for a large amount of encounters mainly Tifa.

I just finished my Tifa date on the Skywheel(I fucking screamed, WE DID IT LADS!)so I came here to see the others.
And man, the Aerith one is also so good, but it really hammers home to me that it feels more and more like Aerith is loosely aware of her impending demise.
Like, it seems like she's constantly pushing boundaries with Cloud, but she always seems to stop short of making an actual move.
To me, she seems like someone trying to squeeze all the living she can out of her final days before Sephiroth comes for her.
After the scene when Tifa wakes up in Gongaga (God fucking dammit YUFFIE and Cait ... I screamed at my TV xD) I wasn't trusting the scene until they made it there.
Aerith date looks the most cinematic like it’s apart of the games narrative.

Love how Red and Yuffie are the kids of the group. Their part with Cloud is wholesome, with Yuffie referencing Zack, making Cloud act just like him, and Red bonding with Cloud even more. I played the original and this version really does flesh out the characters and the original way Cloud was portrayed as a youthful personality. Its the Mako and things that happened to him that shut out his personality and he adopted a fake persona. Love how they just worked the whole origin into Rebirth.

Yuffie was my 2nd favorite one after Aerith.
Was she referencing Zack? Wait, did Zack date her and Aerith? I thought Yuffie actually was talking about Cloud, just in a way that she could express without alerting him. The very end where Cloud says if it was he she should let him have it, and then she does, becomes the literal punchline for the joke.

Even though Tifa and Yuffie's dates are the only ones required for 100% completion, I like to think that all of the dates are canon and Cloud just kept going back out on the skywheel.
They are all 100% honest to how he feels about each character and none of them contradict anything.

All of them are canon, they all detect the relationship he has with the whole party, as the game was about all the relationships, not just one or two and not just a love story.

I really love how in-depth they make all the characters here. Whether it’s the romantic aspect with Tifa and Aerith, or if it’s just the friendly relationships the rest of the group has, you can really tell how much Cloud cares for all of them, even if he doesn’t know how to show it. It makes the game that much more real

this is why i always love cloud as a main character he acts tough and is a bit of a overly stoic guy yet most of it seems to be a act and he often is unsure what to do, yet he hesitates little to do weird silly stuff for others like th ehoneybee inn dress up and such

I like how his silence is mostly out of him not knowing exactly how to act rather than being proud or mean. makes me irritated sometimes but in a way you get with a friend. it makes his character more human i think. I always show my frustration with cloud's character to my friends but at the end of the day I really feel for this awkward little guy X)

The ending may have been convoluted bs, but they absolutely nailed all the character moments. I feel like that conversation with Nanaki should have happened outside of an optional cutscene though, I actually missed that very impotant detail that they can't see the future anymore. Aerith's description of that was very vague as if she remembered most of it but had an important piece missing
The cloud and tifa date is my canon one xD. Fucking love these two.
I kind of view it that in OG timeline the canon date was Aerith, however in remake timeline with alterations of events with Sephiroth making a concerted effort to target Tifa and drive cloud away ironically lead to him opening up to her earlier as he begins to let Tifa in and see the things wrong with him allowing him to be vulnerable in front of her, causing this timeline canon date to be tifa (without getting into details this is all due to events that happened in gongaga)

Went full one-winged Chocobo on those Shinra soldiers and then Tifa.
I like to think that the Tifa one is canon purely because of what happens in it and that even in Yuffie’s one, when they talk about her, Cloud doesn’t deny, just gives a dismissive response to Yuffie when she ask if he likes her back

Cloud x Tifa is the true canon couple.
Yuffies and Clouds date was adorable, it might have been the most unconcious natural thing to do for Cloud, like he would get along with Zack and just follow his lead and Yuffie describing him might brought back some nostalgia even without the memory, like his body remembered Zack and made him feel more comfortable

Aerith's gondola ride was sweet because Cloud had just remembered how he and Zack were friends, and how in love Zack was with Aerith. And he had just remembered how Zack died supposedly. So he was just trying to comfort a friend, it's really sweet.
But obviously Cloud and Tifa, that's where the love story is.
The love story is in both mate, but only one of them survived.
@delriver77 there is a love story with Aerith, true. It's her coming to terms with the fact that she never got over Zack through her relationship with Cloud and eventually being reunited with him, getting her happy ending with her first love in the afterlife.
Cloud's feelings are never confirmed and Aerith has said over and over what her attraction to Cloud is.
Was never meant to be, the couples are CT and ZA.
No offense but I don't subscribe to the idea Cloud Strife fell in love with and was going to choose a woman he knew three weeks over the girl he's been in love with his entire life.
And for no other reason than she's pretty and fun, no less, cause I never get any other real reason as to why besides her being fun and special for being a Cetra.
Personally i always thought Clouds feelings towards Aerith are missplaced due to his hijacked memories. Like how he get nostalgic feelings when he’s with Aerith just because he think he’s Zack sometimes. Those feelings becomes somewhat real later on cuz the experience he had with her and the feelings even if they were based on fake memories are still there. So when he becomes ”normal” again he’s hella confused even if Tifa is the right choice, i feel advent children speaks for itself.
@@StygianStilettosGamer the novels show Aerith sees Zack as a friend once both reunite in the lifestream, but she has romantic feelings for Cloud, even the game (Gold Saucer date) tells you she's starting to fall for the actual Cloud, and that she wants to know him better. Cloud's feelings are always mixed between her and Tifa which is no small achievement for Aerith, after all she only spent 2 months with him but left a mark that lasted forever. At the end of FFVII original, the first thing Cloud says is that he thinks he'll be able to meet Aerith "there" (in the lifestream, or the afterlife, whatever you call it).
It's ridiculous to take sides and get heated on these topics.
@@Kidesura I don't think he recreated Zack's feelings for Aerith, honestly. He imitates the attitude and some gestures, just like I would if I was trying to look lile a cool character from a film I just saw. He also took some of Zack's backstory (SOLDIER) and assumed it to be his own, but feelings for another human being are rather difficult to recreate. IMO she approached him because she was reminded of Zack, and he just started to fall for her without noticing, while her own feelings also matured over time.
In Advent Children Cloud's mostly depressed because of his inability to save Aerith in the past, we're not told how he's feeling towards her or Tifa (romantically, we do know that he sees Tifa as family).
Why does Cloud look so uneasy when he goes on the Skywheel with Aerith? I think he seems more comfortable around Tifa.

Cloud clearly has feelings for both girls, and it really contributes to both the complexity of his character and the overarching story.

Can I just say I love clouds lopsided smirks, he is just so goofy and dorky and I'm so glad it comes out in these scenes (Besides the boyz one).
Cloud and Aerith’s date was cute, but I honestly get the feeling that their relationship is more like friends who find comfort in one another rather than lovers. Aerith likes Cloud, sure, but it’s obvious at least to me that she still holds feelings of love for Zack as well. She doesn’t want to project that onto Cloud and says she wants to be with *him* but I feel like that doesn’t = to her admitting she doesn’t love Zack anymore, only that she wants to know the real Cloud whether or not they’re together.
However, Tifa and Cloud’s date alludes to a more intimate and concrete romantic conclusion, and it makes sense because Cloud’s feelings for Aerith is one of protection and Aerith even admits that she first liked Cloud only cause of Zack. Tifa is the one who truly loves only Cloud for HIM and not because of Zack. Even Yuffie admires Cloud because of Zack. It goes to show for us viewers that the *real* love interest for Cloud is most likely Tifa.

That's probably the best analysis I've seen to be honest. To me, Cloud has always liked Tifa but never really knew how to project his feelings cause of his whole situation. Aerith is the one who really helps him break out of his shell, and I think there might've been a short period where Cloud DID have feelings for her. But it was when she started mentioning Zack that he realized those feelings might not have been reciprocated. Despite that he was still smitten by her unrequited compassion towards him that his mind starts to open up about his feelings for Tifa.
In the novels it's made clear that Aerith loves Cloud when they show her thoughts in the lifestream. They even go as far as saying that she loved him far more than her first love. As a matter of fact, she finds Zack on the lifestream several times but they just have a friendly relationship. To Cloud however, the narrator always refers as "her beloved". This date is pretty much like the original game, where Aerith says her classic line "I'm searching for you", which I believe to be one of the most romantic lines in the whole franchise. She showed interest on him due to his resemblance to Zack, but right here she's starting to love him for who he is (as his own self starts slowly showing while he gets back fragments of memories). Btw, in the church scene, in the JAP version, she does confess her feelings.
Besides Cloud's romantic preference will depend on your choices. At the Gold Saucer, the canon date is Aerith (if the score is even).
The game suggests that Cloud loved Tifa all his life and then, Aerith, in less than a couple months, entered the equation. In AC, he lives with Tifa and as two adopted kids (as if they were a couple), but never stops thinking about Aerith, albeit these are feelings of guilt, and constantly goes to their place (church).
In my view it's pretty clear that he loved both, and Aerith dying was simultaneously a blessing and a curse for Tifa's future with Cloud.

Maiden isn't confirmed to be canon, but it's not denied either. Either way, on the way to smile is confirmed canon and also shows that lifestream Aerith and Zack have a friendly relationship, while she thinks of Cloud in romantic terms.

Look, I couldn't care less about the drama and the name calling(safely assume I couldn't give a crap, because I don't), but it "not being denied" does not make it canon. If the original creator of the content says it's canon, it's canon. That's all I have to say about this. Now, was there such confirmation from actual developers/creators/creative directors? I love all the dates but people are so disingenuous about both the Tifa and Aerith dates. Both sides cherry pick parts of the dates to prove one ship over the other. Super annoying stuff - just let both sides enjoy the dates they got.
Now that Zack is alive and could possibly show up it feels bad on a meta level for Cloud and Aerith to be together. If the 3rd game doesn't end with Aerith and Zack alive and together, I will echo Cloud's sentiment in the Nanaki date. What's the point of knowing fate if you can't change it for the better?

I watched Tifa’s date for more than 10 times!!!! THIS IS CRAZY!!! OMG can’t wait for part 3. This is really bit different from OG, and I reallllyyyyyy love how Square made it different but yet the same. I’m not seeing that Cloud gets his PTSD sick this time, instead, he could smile at Aerith and wish her well in her new world. Unexpectedly, the one who was most shocked by Aerith's death was Tifa
Claude didn't get PTSD from Aerith's death, because he saved her. At least partially, in one timeline. Or so it would seem...

I just finished FF7 Rebirth today and spent the rest of the day doing all the Gold Saucer stuff. Out of all these moments, my favourites have to be Yuffie, Red's, and Cait Siths.
No matter with who you go on the date. Tifa and Cloud is canon how.
Barret totally hints at Tifa when talking about Clouds Soulmate. Yuffie asked him out about Tifa. Cloud kisses Tifa.
While Nanaki only says to Cloud he have to protect Aerith. And Cloud and Aerith are just respectful-supportive friend in their date.

idk why but the Yuffie one is my favorite, I like the kid sister vibe they established cus she imo didn't fit into the group the way the others do - Barret and Red have a semi bromance, Tifa and Aerith have a sisterly relationship etc etc. Yuffie seemed kind of out of place in the group personality wise before they opened up her character a little bit more

I love seeing the first RPG I played being remade, the nostalgia. I also like how the characters are being flushed out more with their personalities really showing. Go team Cloud xTifa, also love how they did Yuffie and Cait characters.

Before Crisis Core I was like "ugh Zack doesnt belong only bad part of ff7" now he's legit my favorite. Super positive ultra strong cool dude who thankfully told genesis to shut up many times. Sephiroth kept letting him yap lol.
I felt the same way. Never played Crisis Core, never gave a crap about him. All I've seen of Zack has been from Remake and Rebirth and he's just so likeable. Light and free as opposed to taciturn and stoic. Polar opposite of Cloud. Cloud is likeable too, of course, when he lets his guard down.
As much as I really, really wanted the date with Aerith... after watching this video, I'm sorta glad I didn't. Something about it felt wrong, with the Zack of it all.

does anyone know how to get specifically the dates you want? I did all side quests for everyone and had tifa in my party the whole game but I still went on a date with Red for some odd reason
It’s based off character affection rating, which can keep going up even after the visual indicator is maxed. Red may have been slightly higher for whatever reason. Or it’s possible several were equally high and the game picked one at random
It really seems like Aerith is fully aware of her fate, she told cloud not to fall in love with her in remake, and it seems like she’s forcing herself to remain distant to avoid hurting him when she inevitably dies, it’s actually really sad

I love cloti but for me the date with aerith is much more intimate, I felt that the kiss was weird and uncanny tbh. I wish it had happen differently, in a more romantic way.

Yuffie being the kid sister like vibe is cute as heck. Tifa's ride was really sweet and emotional, while Aerith's ride was kind of painful to watch knowing what she and Zach had and knowing Cloud's history with him as well...

Rebirth certainly accomplished something by making me empathize with Cait Sith. Little fella's just trying to get the guys to have fun but they're in a shit mood and not having it lol

Fr, Tifa’s intimate date is the absolute best one in the game, but I would put Aerith’s date (regardless of the version) over Tifa’s standard date.
This game has many baites 😂 first they make you think they won’t kiss then they do, and they also make you think you saved aierith but you don’t, genuine roller coaster of emotions

Vincent, Cait and Cid date is the most hilarious, Yuffie's is the cutest. And Aerith's and Tifa's are more on romantic side. Barret is more like a parent.
