Don’t forget about your engine ground.
What do you do?
I’m not sure about diesels but I think the negative cable will be bolted to your engine block or because it is a boat we’re talking about here, it could be grounded to your hull. Basically any and all negative cable connection should be cleaned and brushed( brass wire brushed) sometimes it they can look pretty clean but still have poor conductivity. If it has an alternator it’ll probably have at least two negative grounds. I had an ford ranger that had a shitty engine ground, it was not charging the battery well & it was very hard to get enough amperage to the starter it was all because of a poor engine ground.
