I'm incredibly glad that the walls are finally down, but considering how long it took them to make these changes it's disappointing in my opinion. I hope they utilize the space better going forward!
I o love the picnic area a lot. especially when not crowded! As I recall I mentioned that when I was cheffing and I made coconut marshmallows I made the coconut into dust. This way you get the flavor witout havinf to brush your teeth afterwards. To me on hostess snowballs were okay with shredded coconut, but I haven't had one in about 40 years or so! I was happy you gave that arepa a 5 because in appearance it was a 5 to me and knowing the flavors match! Duble thumbs up. Finally, Communicore. The best version was when there was Communicore East and Communicore west.You could happily spen an hour or so in each!
Of course you two know that I have special insights into this particular imagineering project. And with that being said, I'm not a fan of how it turned out. Even through plans were changed midstream, after the building was already gutted, but it just seems cheap and uninspiring considering the amount of time spent on it. The outside facade of the building is pretty fire, but the inside leaves a lot to be desired. The outside spaces are just blah for me.
Coconut is evil to my entire family -- we have a kid in the family who is seriously allergic (epi-pen level) to all forms of coconut (and they put it in so much stuff these days). Her parents carry an epi-pen each and the kid makes sure she has it with her also -- she's been to emergency room 4 times so far due to coconuts.
Have not seen in person but from the photos and videos I have seen, it's a bit underwhelming for the years it took to complete. I am, however, hopeful that perhaps the rather bland interior is just because it's currently reflecting "Diet EPCOT" and that when there are active festivals, they are able to use the space in new and creative ways and maybe even allow the return of demos and tastings during Food & Wine. We shall see!
