It was a special moment teaching those kids! Here’s to the next Flite Fest! 🤙
I was surprised you could keep Milo and his brother stand still for a moment :)
I kept looking at all these amazing planes, and then halfway through the interview i realize “its a crash compilation. OH NO”
Maybe try reading the videos title champ?
saaamee
The ending of the young man teaching the two little boys was very sweet.
If you want to check his channel out its called ProjectAir , Hope u like it :)
Buddy box would let the kids have a few more positive experience
Yeah, i guess it's the rebuilding experience that he wanted to get across, but i tottally agree with the buddy box
When the guy with the P51 Spitfire said “450 hours of work” I said:
“Oh no....”
War Chest It is a P 40.
interman 77 ahh whoops! Thanks for the correction!
Damage was limited to the spinner and prop. She will fly again with little work!
Glad the damage was minimal. It's a beautiful model. I wouldn't have the heart to put that thing into the sky.
She was built to fly, and in particular to fly at Flite Fest. There is always next year...
The only bad RC crash is the one you don't catch on video :-)
Agreed! We lost a giant Cessna Sky master at our field yesterday. She was kit built and fiberglassed. She took 3 years to build and a wing folded in a gentle turn. Toothpicks....
Dave Merc Productions it had a 10 foot wingspan
Ouch! It really pays to overbuild the wings.
Yucannt Hahvitt Yeah. The wings were extremely over built. A spar joiner failed mid flight. Twin 55cc engines. One is destroyed.
Nice video, Jeremy! Enjoyed that immensely! 😀
I love that the successes and the encouragement were included.
When I saw the p-40 I was then sad knowing it's a crash video
Its fine... Just a new prop and spinner needed and she'll be back in the air. A smoother (and wider) runway helps too :-)
Nah! She is just fine! Carl will have her back up in the air. The textile runway was too slack for large airplanes. You can see the "wave" of fabric in front of the wheels. That is what caused it to veer left.
Agreed. They all have a lifespan and they are meant to fly. The P-40 will be flying again this week :-)
Same
Im new to all this. Just found this channel after seeing a highlight video of the demolition derby flights (super fun to watch). But is the P-40 that WWII style plane? The one that guy said he built while his wife was in Germany? Did it get up in the air? I know im watching a crash compilation, but I was really hoping to see that one in the air.
_"2 minutes into the video, and I'm wondering if they're going to crash all of the planes."_ 😂
dude james is so good with the kiddos
I like how 80% percent of the crashes were poor piloting and the rest were improper preflight checking. Oh well thats what the hobby is, Learning.
God put a rudder on that Warhawk for a reason... use it!
lol... I do! She needs a lot of aileron as well to keep the P-factor from lifting the right wing immediately. That runway was narrow for something that big though and I think subconsciously I was light on the sticks because of how close the crowd was on the right side. I basically needed to point her at the people as she was gaining speed and I didn't do that.
She does fly though, and will fly again as soon as the new prop and spinner is installed.
Scairborne66 that hurt to watch, 450 hours or something. I would have let him fly my 1800 balsa cub before that amazing plane so he didnt just break it. RIP the most detailed p 40 ive ever seen
wilmracer yeah that is a good assesment. Honestly i would have just pulled back and punched it into full throttle. I bet it would have tacken off. Honestly that is an amazing plane in the first place. congradulations
definitely not RIP :-) Prop and spinner (and spares) already painted and ready for balancing. I'm heading out of town for a bit but she'll be flying early August!
Just the best way to get kids involved! Well done boys.
Best one yet. Thank you for passing it on.
I love the fact that NOBODY seems to mind crashing! These are such fun to watch..................fantastic attitude, well done guys!!
That P-40E model is an absolute show stopper OMG!!
Waited for a while for this after we were teased last week. Finally. Crashes.
Those magnificent men and their flying machines !
I can't say enough good things about FliteTest. The mid-airs and people's reactions during combat were fantastic!!! LOL The ending with the kids flying was the icing on the 5 layered velvet cake.
This turned out to be a pretty inspirational video
Bro that got dedicated a full year of his life to complete his beautiful project only for it to end in seconds. Lol
James' piece was awesome
Ah, watching people's hard work being annihilated that we consider entertainment.
6:24 the only time I've ever seen a tangle that ever resulted in both crafts recovering, not to mention almost touch n go!! Wow!
Camera quality is sweet! Audio is awesome! That's sweet they sent ya one!
Best public family get together, guys.
Very happy for you 👍
Great camera
I loved the ending to this one. That young man is going to go places. I suspect his proteges are too. :)
That man is James Whomsley who is writing most of FT's articles on the homepage :).
Love the young man at the end teaching the youngsters
this was awesome and I hope you guys make this an regular thing with flite fest.
That was Epic, and love the new camera. Good message at the end.
This looks like a blast.
crashfest what a great time. camera did a great job also the audio
"Disclaimer: no airplanes were hurt during the edit of this video."
From the young guy at the end.please MORE!!!!
+ 1 - please do this guys isamazing, he deserve an entire episode IMO.
I agree! ;) ;)
Awesome! That was my Arrow that took the nose off the Radian at 5:52. The Arrow did not come apart and suffered no damage from the nose-in into the ground. The worst thing was that when it hit the Radian it put a twist in the left wing necessitating that wing to be replaced. A few hours later and it was flying again. The hit was so hard that it put several fracture cracks into the left wing. One of them ran right under the Flite Test sticker on that wing and literally split the sticker in two. To commemorate the event, I peeled the sticker off the damaged wing and put it on the new wing in two separate pieces. My Arrow did so well in the crash because it has sheet brass covering the front of the center pod, and steel landing gear rods running down the outside leading edge of each wing.
Can it fly??... Yeah absolutely... Crashes 5 seconds later. 😂
Great video! Great camera! Loved the slo-mo shots. I saw most of those but a few I missed so thanks for putting this together!
Looking forward to hours of video from FliteFest! Even though I was there from Wed to Sun, I know I missed a TON!! Thanks Guys!!!
I wonder if the P-40 guy had flown a taildragger before or was he experiencing servo problems? This reminded me of those old films from like the 1920s and 30s where pilots were trying experiment contraptions that never worked. Some great crashes this year. One thing though, the soybean field got mowed pretty well.
Yeah, I've flown her before and fly warbirds all the time. She is SO light for her size that she has some unique characteristics on the ground. The P-factor pulls hard enough to lift the right wing before she's at flying speed so she needs loads of aileron to keep her level while she builds speed.
Watching this again and again in HD I still think the runway material didn't help, but I think subconsciously I was scared of getting her into the crowd that was lining the runway. That was a narrow spot to take off from and I really needed to point her AT people to get her to track straight. At least all she needs is a new prop.
You can see her fly on my channel. I'll have her back in the air next month.
Guys, are you going to make a 20-minute or so long video about the whole weekend like last year? I'd be nice to see some open fly stuff, as well as the events Saturday night and sunday. Makes the event a bit easier to show to family about what all went down, and maybe even catch my father and myself walking in the background!
Great to meet you guys!
Yes! Thanks for putting our aircraft carrier in there, although to bad we didn't get a video of when it worked
Gosh this video just makes me want to go to flite fest even more
Building your character... one crash at a time!
7:00 Twerk of Doom
That big toothless was so sketchy it could be on SNL
7:33 I’m in the video!!!!
congrats!
You crashed it?
Well said at the last seconds..
We need to encourage kids to do more and more.. again and again.. so they can "jump" higher.. nice..👍👍👍
Ooh man...awesome event you've got going on...the pinnacle of the hobby....with so much and different individuals enjoying the same thing...I'm from the Netherlands so it's not very likely that I will be able to join you but it would be the experience of a lifetime...just freaking awesome....keep it up guys👍👌✌
This seriously looks like so much fun! I would rather work at this little airport than FAI.....haha
Very good audio on the camera
The flutter on that big baron... single layer surfaces and big foamboard planes do not mix guys!
Love that flutter @ 7:00 . And at 7:30 is this the RC equivalent of Polo and the " Stomping of the Divets" turned collection of the pieces......???
This video is heartbreaking!!
I really feel bad laughing at the crashes because every plane has time and effort put into them but laugh I did! 🙈😂😂😂🙈
Have you ever done like a big battle royale type thing were everyone launches at the same time and battles till theres only one plane flying? That would be awesome!
Slowmo camera! That is going to improve videos even more!
That runway looks terribly loose. Surface should be more taut. :(
The dude at the end is a total bro 👍
Awesome guys!!
Ready to fly it?
Absolutely!
*CRUNCH*
Crazy how @ProjectAir is now really big.
Great summary of the FliteTest spirit at the end. Keep it up!
Awesome viddy.love the ending
Looks like it is on point as always. Flight Test will continue to inspire!
When the guys talks about making an airplane for couple months but the video i titled “most epic crashes of lite test ohio 2018”
Great video, great slow-mo, great editing.. you guys have a frikin blast & keep it up (although puttin em down is hilarious)!
Happy Birthday Joshua . Awesome camera I loved my sony. Great video .
Absolutely love Flite Fest!👍 My "FliteFest Ohio 2018 highlights" has a crash at 2:05 during the pilot meeting.
Ya'll do the most entertaining vids. Thanks!
More videos like these please
Hai! Hai! Im Saravana. Wish you Happy Birthday! "Joshua Melvin Bixler"
LMAO the quad with the pinata! XD
Es la mejor parte del hobby. Ver si tu trabajo dio frutos ó no. Prepárate a divertirte de las 2 formas.
I remember being that age as the little boy at the end on the video learning to fly with my Grandfather. He would stand behind me with his arms reaching around me for the transmitter he would control the throttle and let me use the ailerons an elevator. I am 17 now and I fly some 3D but I love flying my ex light p-47 1.2m. If it wasn’t for those times as a kid with my grandfather I wouldn’t fly today
I also fly with my rotc unit at my high school where I now teach other students my age to fly with the help of my instructors and a few friends at my local flying field
Absolutely awesome. Btw I got my ACME Boomerang maiden two days ago. Self built, self balanced and my first rc model ever. Took me a while to get brave enough to risk it but it flies amazingly well. 😁
Felt so bad for the guy with the P-40. He put so much time into that and it didn't fly.
Looks like you guys should hold a demolition derby!
Beautiful
Thank you
wow that's a lot of work, very impressive...
*remembers that this is the most epic crashes video*
Oh no....
looks like a great fun event
6:40 best save ever until the crash
literally the second the kids touch the control you just see one of the planes come falling aggressively out of the sky lmao
That guy didnt know how to launch that black gremlin!
I keep thinking how awesome these are then i remember that they’re going to crash
The spectacular double save at 6:60...wait whaaaaat
Great video, but where’s bob? That was arguably the most epic crash of the event, not complaining just saying...
Yep! I was there and that or the bloody baron where the two most epic crashes
Bob was the best crash
I've heard so much about Bobs crash. Really hoping I would see it here. Anyone got a vid?
Totally agree! Hope they make an episode of the Veterans AIrshow too!
I hit bob for first place when he crashed haha!
i'd rename it to most heartbreaking crashes ;(
It sucks seeing those pretty plains they spent so mutch time on the relising your in a epic crash vid
Buddy boxing is a lot cheaper than "build, crash, repeat" for anyone looking to get into this. If you're building this stuff, crashing is part of it though.
7:12 Props to you :P
Props to everyone.😂
The Batman drone 😂
Had me laughing, great stuff thank you!
Good job guys
Request can you make a plane kite
Ha, had to stop what I was watching to watch this!
Guys - from the bottom of my heart, really, this was an amazing episode, which we rarely see these days on FT channel due to all the commercial content. that "shutout" in the middle of it really made me see again where this channel has gone to lately, yet again, great edit, inspiring , loved it.. but why that cheap trick in the middle, not cool.
If the cost of this content is putting up with a little bit of advertising inserted, I am all for it.
Someone has to pay, this stuff isn't cheap to produce, would you do your job for free?
Stambo - Rest assure that FT guys has income and are not doing it volunteerlly. It is more than ok to promot stuff over but there have to be a balance. I am not sure if you recall the very early episods of FT.. where they were done when there was no major income, yet the content was very enjoyable, if not more that what we see today.
Yes.. no one owes me a sh**t.. I was just saying balance it out. Adding to that disrupting the content in the middle is really the simplest /not creative way of doing so. FT HAS AN AMAZING CREW, which we all have already seen doing the same in a more sattle, creative manner.
In the early days of Flite Test, I believe subs were about 20k when I started following them, they all had full time jobs.
Now that it IS their full time job, the bills must be paid.
If you don't wish to support them by watching a few adds there is a progress bar that you can easily drag along to skip them.
Nice!
I like the camera footage qual
This is like my nightmare lol I see all these planes crashing and immediately I'm back in RC Vietnam xD
Too bad that it is so difficult to travel with some planes from Europe to the States. Even though i dont fly foanmies this often anymore i think i have to visit an FliteFest somewhen. I really like the atmosphere i can see from all thos videos.
Fly there, bring electronics and build one with free foamboard and hotglue in the build tent. Crash it in combat and take the electronics that survice back home. ;)
I loved this video! I'm sad that I couldn't get out to ohio this year. God help me, I'll see you guys in Texas!
