The National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS) is the leading voice and resource of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) community. Founded in 1990, NOFAS is the only international non-profit organization committed solely to FASD primary prevention, advocacy and support.
NOFAS seeks to create a global community free of alcohol-exposed pregnancies and a society supportive of individuals already living with FASD. NOFAS effectively increases public awareness and mobilizes grassroots action in diverse communities and represents the interests of persons with FASD and their caregivers as the liaison to researchers and policymakers. By ensuring that FASD is broadly recognized as a developmental disability, NOFAS strives to reduce the stigma and improve the quality of life for affected individuals and families.

Amazing, what an awesome young man you are! Too many youngsters live blind lives, frustrated with difficulties, shunned because they don't fit smoothly into society. They don't know why and call themselves stupid. Many have never been informed by their mothers which is unforgivable. Change is in the air.

A wise young man, spread the word folks, no drinking during pregnancy, never! Give our nations a chance to flourish, we have it in us, and we can make our children healthy and strong - he does my heart good, think of what he could have been without the damage even as terrific as he is now - it's 100% preventable, spread the word and help young mothers say NO to alcohol and give their child a full chance at life, independence and grace. You go Morgan with powerful prayers!

Morgan, I applaud your ability to speak so well for people that struggle with FASD. You help parents realize the importance of getting a diagnoses. You re-assure parents that by providing their children a diagnosis it can relieve them of the weight of believing they are NOT dumb. Diagnosis provides parents or care givers and children the tools to an understanding of the challenges they encounter in daily tasks and learning. As an educator I will carry the information you shared with me. Thanks!

I think that because most members of my tribe (Eastern Cherokee) are Baptists who don't drink, we don't really have this issue on our rez. The Qualla Boundary is dry as well, due to the majority religion and the fact we have the lectures from Yonaguska on how alcohol is devastating--he struggled with alcohol abuse. A lot of Natives like to make fun of Cherokee people, but we're doing something right here.

Yet, all moms expecting should think very clearly ... and if you're a alcoholic or don't mind drinking alcohol during pregnancy, please, just don't get pregnant. This counts for all addictions

I have seen him give a lecture on a reservation in California. He had a personal assistant bring him there because he could not do it on his own. Amazing how he accepts what happened to him, and is committed to showing others to avoid doing it, and how he copes with it.
