@@kapmando There's always been a modicum of research in DBX. But it's not in-depth research which is what it means. Though, I hesitate to call it research. What they know of the characters is surface-level is what they mean, so they share surface level knowledge in an episode like this. That's what no research means. Just because you have surface level knowledge and are familiar with the characters doesn't mean you did research. You could be familiar with Dante and Sephiroth, but do you know who wins without research? Probably no.

When he first debuted, he noticed his abilities were a little different than Superman's (fire and energy attacks still hurt him, for the most part... and he didn't have the various vision powers). When a Cadmus scientist examined, he found out that was due to him subconsciously using his telekinesis. He wasn't using actual Kryptonian abilities. As he got older, his Kryptonian genes kicked in.

Though for Agoraphobic Giant's Gaming, it's not research, they are just listing off similar abilities they each have - nothing in depth. No analysis on how much damage they can do or how fast they really move or how much devastation their best energy-based attacks can do. So it's just a "Here's what they can do... Fight, fly and shoot blasts. LET'S FIGHT!". A waste of time the introduction was... But no research was used.
its just a quick rundown on their abilities so you know what they can do, its cool. I like how its down to a fan vote now, even if other shows have done it before.
What I don't like about fan vote is that the most popular character would win even if they technical aren't as strong. Take Goku vs Superman for instance, I didn't know how absurdly strong superman was before watching the death battle about him I just assumed Superman's biggest feat was lifting an airplane since I saw him struggle with one in the animated series. Like most people would not do any research before voting and would probably just vote for who they like more.

In a full death battle, I think it would come down to whether Gohan packs enough of a punch to overcome Superboy's durability, or if Superboy is fast enough to render Gohan's martial arts irrelevant.
It’s agreed upon that at this age in DBZ Gohan was ready to surpass goku as far as power (but held back due to the popularity of goku) so if goku can keep up and lose to a full grown Superman it’s safe to say Gohan is equal or stronger then superboy

It also depends on how many times Gohan gets his inner potential tapped, unlocked, boosted, etc. Notice a trend for Gohan?? Namek, Buu, and Super. In the Cell saga, his boost there actually utilized training.

@@iexist7352 not exactly true. Hiro would get his super magnets and his vest that gave him super strength. So id say its pretty even. Though baymax doesnt kill maybe an issue but since its death battle i think they would omit that. (Disney show amps his potential up quite a bit)
