    Thanks for the video Tom. Great job. I would like to add that Marina would be better for you if you worked there. Likewise, Business Bay would be better, if you were worked there. Traffic during rush hour is such an immense pain that it can outweigh any advantage Marina or Business Bay have if you were living/working across both of them, rather than living/working in the same place.

    For me, I prefer the beaches that are accessible from the business bay canal by bike or scooter .The beaches are more chilled and spacious than the Marina beaches, which are ram packed with tourists.

    Is the metro from marina to downtown useable or is it too much hassle? Ive heard it gets rammed during morning commutes

    Tom, hi, thanks for the new video. Please tell me, is it possible to maintain a good standard of living for two, having $ 5k per month and renting 1BR in Dubai marina? I am offered a job in Dubai, but I worry that my standard of living will be worse. I will be glad if you make a video with your monthly expenses (including groceries, cafes, food deliveries, taxis, etc.). Perhaps you can give some advice :)

    • @TomJacksonDXB
      @TomJacksonDXB  Před rokem

      $5k for one person is v good, however, for two people you may struggle liivng in the marina as a lot of your money will go on rent and then you have double the groceries :) good idea for vid

      I would recommend Dubai Marina. Lots of supply due to come onto the market in Business Bay over the next couple of years. Whereas Dubai Marina has no land left, benefits from being popular with tourists and the Dubai Marina end of Dubai is expected to experience greater demand :)

    I don't even understand why there are two big city clusters 20 kms apart with nothing but sand in between
    Why don't dubai build these cities closer, i mean talking about apartments right next to the beach they could've planned marina in la mer area which is right next to downtown
    By doing this the city would've felt more connected
    They're still building more cities miles apart from each other.. Like dubai creek, JVC, international city etc. It just doesn't make sense

    • @TomJacksonDXB
      @TomJacksonDXB  Před rokem

      I see your point but otherwise it would be very crowded in one area :)

      @@TomJacksonDXB that means the city will feel alive right?.. Ever wondered why some people say that dubai feels soulless? This could be the reason.... This could be also the reason why the transportation is difficult around dubai because there's no interconnection between skyscrapers.. They all are just connected by a single highway
      Also the views of the downtown are very limited right now due to the skyscrapers built in a single row.. The highrises which exist only along the Sheikh zayed road, imagine passing from a highway and while doing it you've already explored 90% of the downtown city and witnessed all the possible breathtaking views in just one take. Doesn't this feel limited?? Scattering the skyscrapers in different places would be a good idea instead of building them in single row along SZR, because you can get a jaw dropping view from every different angle you approach towards the city, unfortunately it doesn't exist.
      Also I'm not saying that the dubai must only be crowded in a single area.. Well, they could've built low rises like 8-10 floors on the rest of the areas(where marina, jvc, creek etc. exists) and built the highrises only in downtown like every other city does.. By doing this, the city has a proper city-centre where most of the activities happen
      Now imagine if i live in marina, if marina has shopping malls, clubs, rooftop bars, all the beautiful tall skyscrapers and all the facilities provided will i ever go visit downtown? NO!(maybe once just to see burj khalifa) BUT WHY WOULD I TRAVEL FRIKKIN 20 KMS IF I HAVE EVERYTHING OVER HERE IN MARINA?.. THIS IS WHAT MAKES DOWNTOWN FEEL EMPTY AND SOULLESS..

      Here's a video for reference.. Compare kuala lumpur with dubai.. Dubai downtown can never look this amazing
      Just look how dense and scattered the skyscrapers are, yet keeping the crowd in control
      This skyline looks amazing from each and every angle, unlike dubai, there's always empty space seen beyond the domino of skyscrapers along Sheikh zayed road
      Kuala lumpur feels alive, dubai doesn't.

      @@christleedsilva2114 I'm wondering how many places you've travelled to for comparison? The reason I ask is that most places have plus/minus points. Dubai has its good points, but it's growing and the leader has a vision. It's located very conviently for access to other places too, KL, not so much.
      Why is Malaysia/KL good? You probably don't really realise it. It was the only place that felt like home as soon as I stepped off the plane. The people of a place have an affect on the place too, not just the buildings. Malaysians are friendly so that makes the place better.
      Dubai has people from all over the world living there, and they behave and it's safe. Different aspects of these 2 cities may appeal to you at different points in your life. Hong Kong is also great. Regardless, if you have relatives or you know people in a place, then you'll have a different experience.
      I've never been the kind of person that travels to places for holiday, I prefer go places for a purpose and understand something about its culture. Travel broadens the mind after all. 😄

      @@SA-cloud I've travelled to singapore, well that's a neat planned and developed every street, every building feels connected to each other unlike dubai..
      I'm saying on behalf of the scenario where I'll be working in dubai(yes I'm planning to go to dubai for a job).. Imagine me staying at dubai marina, i won't be travelling 20 km everyday to office at downtown.. And that would be 1 way.. 40 kms in total. . It's like we're travelling interstates.. 20kms here makes a state
      You see what I'm talking about now? There's no connection, no proper planning.. The marina could've been planned in la mer too, right next to downtown. What difference would it make other than 2 cities being close? Nothing, no downsides, it'd have benefitted as the roads and cities would've felt more connected and we didn't have to travel more or wait for 10 minutes to make a u turn
      Now, what exists in la mer/satwa? Nothing just small villas that nobody asks for even by considering it's right next to downtown
