    The story that goes with this song is interesting. A song composed by Neal Hefti.
    Count Basie apparently called Hefti and asked if he could play the song slowed down. Hefti was okay with it and that's what we got that the world has heard and come to love.
    Funny how things get started..

    Takes me back 60 yrs. It was my FAVORITE on a jukebox in a neighborhood bar. I would play it o0ver and over !

      Rest in peace, Freddie Green, the heartbeat of Basie. Everytime I hear that intro, I remember that wonderful, sweet man, timekeeper extraordinaire!

    I've played in big band jazz but playing trombone,this is so hard to play at the right slow speed as this ,genius

    Wow- Bob Ojeda (solo muted trumpet) is actually playing an Olds Ambassador! In the Olds line, the Ambassador was the least expensive, beginner student model, though highly regarded today.

    This orchestra together with the Duke Ellington orchestra has gone down in history as greatest of the big band era. They were different in their approaches.

      Not a hater but I was thinking the same thing.His strumming was adequate but some of his notes made me cringe.
