The last thing that the Big XII needs is 2 more schools looking for a way to get out of the league.
Anyone who thinks that the already fully depleted and backfilled BIG12 is close to peer with the ACC should have a straightjacket rather than a mic.
Nobody wants FSU.
A couple of days ago you said these reports had no merit and you were dismissing them. Now you're evaluating various options for the FSU and Clemson? Lol!
Multiple things can be true at the same time. FSU and Clemson will exit the ACC one way or another in time. That doesn't mean the B1G and SEC doesn't have priority targets ahead of them. And that doesn't mean they're going to accept FSU and Clemson on their terms and their timeline. The part that's being missed by FSU fans is that they overvalued their program on the open market relative to other programs that can also become availabile.
That means that FSU and Clemson has to explore all options. There are realistic scenarios which the P2 can get their priority schools and decide to stop for now along with their TV partners. That would only leave the Big 12 as a partner if the goal is to get more money than what the ACC can offer.
FSU, Clemson, Miami, Utah staying in a second tier conference losing clout over time sucks....
🙄just not true. Rutgers fan talking. Big 12 would be best conference with these two on the field and very close money wise too
@@jonathanwrehe8015 Delusional. Remember that TX/OK left the BIG12 due to not having the lift to get a Tier 1 deal, few games of higher fan interest (even with lots of regional history), and the effects on recruiting. Given all of that and the BIG12's recent dilutive backfill, FSU and CLEMSON will somehow have the lift, etc.?
@jonathanwrehe8015 if you consider over 30 million behind per year very close then OK. That is after selling your Naming rights etc. You are probably closing what would be a gap of 50-60M down to 30M
@@xmositoxc147 I’m talking about on the field and big 12’s next media deal will be negotiated and is closer than the big 10 and sec. Also big 12 might separate basketball money which will only help. If they get those 4 they’ll be very close to them. Also Utah isn’t even top brand in big 12 currently
@@jonathanwrehe8015 Wrong... the Next B10 Media Deal is closer. The gap will get wider. And you will have more mouths to feed....
Close for the Big12 will be 30 million. Likely 50-60M before you get another media deal
Big ten doesn’t need them. Or want them.
Nobody wants them. FSU and Clemson both now know that. It would be nice if these two fanbases stop harassing SEC and Big 10 fan sites.
Will this uncertainty hurt recruiting?
I don't think so cause they can assure people they will have a league to go to
I recall FSU unwisely publicly stating that it can't be competitive unless it gets Tier 1 money by a certain date. I'd say that will hurt recruiting.
The issue is that the B1G and SEC don't want any teams right NOW because they are still trying to digest their current expansions. I think both could have an interest in Clemson and FSU in the future. The timing is just not right. Granted, they are not going to say they want them to join even if the process is ongoing to avoid lawsuits so public statements about it aren't a great sign but don't totally count them out.
Curious... For how long and by how many professionals must it be reported that CLEMSON and FSU are low expansion priorities for the SEC (and B1G)?
@@tarheel7406 they are not "low expansion" priorities. It is more about timing.
@@volbound1700
a) That CLEMSON/FSU are low priorities is not recent news.
b) The SEC and B1G would invite UVA and/or UNC immediately upon being willing and able to accept. No timing issues.
@@tarheel7406 Not sure about b either, I think both leagues want to catch their breath and digest the teams they have both added.
@@volbound1700 UVA and UNC are top targets of both. Any delay and/or partial share offer risks losing to the other. Where UVA/UNC go will have multi-generational effects.
Clemson has a better chance in the SEC then FSU, they always have a high powered offense every year. FSU is really a hit or miss every year.
CLEMSON has a better chance because it hasn't gone scorched earth and UNC has agreed to make a coattail effort.
Teams that need a conference are weak.
Unlikely to happen but Fsu Clemson (and Miami) to the big12 wouldn’t be a long term goal but they could benefit from it in the short term (next 10 years) before jumping to the SEC/B1G. It’s only a lateral move if the big12 remains complacent after adding them, but if they don’t and renegotiate their TV deal and CFP deal, it’s a win-win situation for them and the Big12 conference. Adding these 2 or 3 ACC schools should qualify the big12 for 3 teams in a 14 team playoff. Should look something like this:
SEC- 4 minimum
B1G- 4 minimum
Big12- 2 minimum (3 max)
ACC- 1 minimum
G5- 1 minimum
Independents - 1 maximum
Why wouldn't have ESPN renegotiated higher with the ACC instead of paying more for them in the already Tier 2 BIG12 where they will have less value?
@@tarheel7406 because they can consolidate the payments between the big12 and the 2-3 teams in the ACC that actually brings in the money. After that, there won’t be any reason to pay the ACC at all (or maybe just a fraction if they wish to keep ACC fans with something to cheer for on their networks). Had there been top Big12 teams publicly looking to leave the conference, then maybe your suggestion would make a little sense.
Yeap sounds like another ACC hater!
@@Rodkicks88 The BIG12 is now all Tier 1 rejects and G5s. One would move the little of value left from the new BIg12 to the ACC.
Texas 2 electric bugaloo
I don't know what this means but have a great day
@@LockedOnCollegeFootball it's saying it's going to be a repeat of having drama queen Texas in the conference.
Calling a sequel to anything part 2 electric bugaloo is a reference to the movie Breaking 2 electric bugaloo
I know you guys are desperate to keep the Big 12 but sorry! 😂
When it comes back to the SEC, we are forced to ask. As a business what new do they bring that the SEC doesn’t already have? We know what FSU gains but what does the SEC gain? They are good teams yes but as a business their core fan bases as intermixed with SEC fans. But I can’t point to something. Clemson has a larger argument because they have a larger NC presence.
and as far as that disruptive statement, that HAS to be out of BIG. but it’s noticeable that Clemson was not mentioned as disruptive. You gotta think Clemson is considering divorce from FSU right now.
If CLEMSON gets too hostile/disruptive, its arranged coattail effort by UNC would be negated.
Clemson has much more pre-existing overlap with the SEC than FSU. The state of Florida is considerably bigger than both North and South Carolina COMBINED, plus FSU has an alumni base about four times as large as Clemson.
@@justadude99 For how long and by how many professionals must it be reported that CLEMSON and FSU are low expansion priorities for the SEC?
@@tarheel7406 What are you on about? Where did I write that either was an expansion priority for the SEC? I essentially simply wrote that FSU was a more financially attractive option for the SEC than Clemson - that's not the same as saying the SEC wants them. Furthermore, I've been consistently writing on these realignment comment pages for over a year that neither the SEC nor the B1G wanted Clemson, and that was when nearly EVERYONE was predicting Clemson to the SEC. I also predicted over a year ago that the SEC's top targets were UNC and UVA, and that Clemson and perhaps FSU would end up in the Big 12. Many of the so-call "professionals" and their video commenters like yourself were arrogantly dismissing my predictions at the time, saying it was ridiculous, and now EXACTLY what I wrote has become the conventional wisdom among these "professionals".
@@justadude99
a) FSU has gone scorched earth; CLEMSON hasn't.
b) FSU has burned bridges and relationships; CLEMSON has allied with UNC.
I can assure you that I knew that UVA/UNC were the top targets within months of the TX/OK news. The "news" here is confirmation that FSU's scorched earth tactics has likely negated any P2 interest. I have been discussing this since FSU started barking soon after the USC/UCLA news.
Only more recent events have made FSU to BIG12 relatively certain. CLEMSON to BIG12 is likely ~10%.
I believe both universities have been upgrading their academic facilities and increasing research spending the last several years in order to get an AAU invitation.
If a school is only pursuing AAU for athletic reasons, it still doesn't have the prestige or culture.
I would laugh my ass off if they leave the ACC and nobody wants them. If Miami stays quiet and they get into the big 10 would be awesome ❤
It's all about the U🙌
