More people SHOULD be playing this music. It's such a rare gem of a midcentury piano concerto. Not to mention, I feel that Emilie Mayer would be just so very touched seeing her music played today especially by other great women. ❤️
Here is another version of this great concerto played by a female orchestra operating under the covid restrictions . Lovely conductor and solist playing a Bosendorfer which is just as good as the Steinway. What a joy to see and hear.
I'm here after hearing the third movement of this concerto played on Classic FM. I've really enjoyed this performance. Lovely playing by the soloist and orchestra. Nicely filmed too and the sound is first rate. Thank you very much.
@Emily Canone Hello Emily. First of all I want to reassure you. No, you are not really missing anything important. The only thing not to miss here is the concerto. To listen to that IS important. I was trying to emphasis that my enjoyment was more than just the usual run of the mill enjoyment. Such as a cup of tea in the morning or a smile from a stranger. In other words, I enjoyed the fudge out of it. "Really enjoyed" is probably a split infinitive but school was a long time ago and I'm not too fussed either way if it was or not. Thank you for your interest.
I am playing her third symphony with an orchestra in December. It is great to hear some of her other music and this was really performed well. Great job!
Amazing opportunity to actually hear might have been in Beethoven’s wastebasket, Kalkbrenner’s fireplace, or even Ries’ attic… Who thought sexism could sound so uninspired…
Magnificent performance! This concerto should be played more.
I am only now discovering Emilie Mayer but I can most definitely say that this piece of music, and this performance of it, are absolutely delightful.
What a gem of a piece - subtle, brilliant musical imagination.

Very kind words...
magnifico ! 👏👏 muchas gracias 🙏🎶
I love that Bösendorfer sound!
It's so rich!
Complimenti, tutte bravissime!

Why does their gender matter?
A Bosendorfer is the piano Stevie Nicks owns & plays!
@@Whatismusic123 Because it looks strange. Statistically speaking one would expect 45% of musicians to be male.
Wunderschön!

So Beautiful...Thanks So Much!

It is not a split infinitive so is correct. Infinitive is " to go , " to get" etc.
BBC are the prize example of doing this most of the time, Grr.
I also first heard this on Classic FM so we have a lot to thank them for except the crass adverts, awful.
Brillant Fantastic!

I play it on Sunday. Never heard of her before, but I'm trying to explore her a bit more to get a feel for her. Really liking it so far.

Second Movement 13:45
Third Movement 21:42
Good music . Would 5 listens make me fall in love with it like a Mozart,Schumann,Chopin,Beethoven concerto ? It's not ordinary but...
A little bit Beethovian as much as it touches also ground also with Mendelssohn. Gratious, gentle, silky.
🥰🥰🥰💕💕💕💋💋💋🙌🙌👏👏👏
The concerto is written in B, but as far as I can see they play it in C! Why do they do that?
It is in B minor but changes to F with the variations.
But that's it.
Amazing opportunity to actually hear might have been in Beethoven’s wastebasket, Kalkbrenner’s fireplace, or even Ries’ attic…
Who thought sexism could sound so uninspired…
Nice enough, but to my mind lacking in spirit - especially the last movement, which was stolid and should have been light and sprightly.
Her symphonies are better.
