I copied the way u did it but it ripped out of the ceiling an crushed my wife's skull ....Lucky she was insured now I have a new wife an a yacht. Thanks👍
Getting a hose reel is definitely a game-changer for any garage, I'm up to 4 of them myself now. I recommend anyone looking at getting one is to avoid the enclosed hose reels because they are usually a pain if they jam inside. Also if you're in a colder climate with an unheated garage avoid anything with a PVC hose or plan on replacing it to a hybrid style hose. One thing I wish was more common is soft retracting reels meaning they retract at a slow speed no matter how far they are pulled. You can kind of see the hose whipping around as you let go of it near the end of the video and it only gets worse the further away you let go. Great video I like that you show the process inside the attic too.
Great video...I've been looking at the same hose reel and will be doing the same setup. I have the old hand crank from Harbor Freight which work well but I now can move that one over to my other workshed. Thanks for posting!
Thank you! Very nice review video and setup. Nice to have space above your garage to do this , much cleaner than running hoses along the walls and ceiling.
Very nice video. I will be installing my reel as I just purchased one. And I'm liking the Mopar logo. Used to own a 1970 Satellite and now my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L Hemi
Nice video! I just bought one from Harbor Freight and was trying to se me if anyone had a video on it and had used it. Quality seems okay for the money. By the way, those are joists, not studs. Studs are in the wall. Good job though!
Thanks for the video was thinking about this and glad I saw this. Think ill stick with my $20 HFT hand reel on the wall next to the compressor, this one seems a bit overkill and bulky, makes the garage look like a like a walmart lube shop hanging from the ceiling like that.
@@5150GringoGarage I didn't realize it was so friggin huge man. At least it's out of your way up there I suppose. I have a 2 story so there's no adding supports up there for me anyhow
Hello, I have this same Diablo hose reel and I'm looking to mount it the same way you did. My Question is what screws and washers did you use to mount the hose reel?
Did you have to reposition the Support post at all because I'm doing a ceiling mount in the center of my garage like you did. Thank you , nice Mopar project car.

Great video. I think I’ll do a similar set up.
You need to reorient your hose guide so it is parallel to the floor so the hose pulls off the reel straight.

Great video. I just wish CZcamsr reviewers would do 6 month follow ups on the quality of the product. HF products can be a crap shoot sometimes.
That's sick
Hello,
I have this same Diablo hose reel and I'm looking to mount it the same way you did. My Question is what screws and washers did you use to mount the hose reel?
Nice. Have you had any issues with the weight of the hose/reel and pulling on it by just attaching to individual 2x4s?
Did you have to reposition the Support post at all because I'm doing a ceiling mount in the center of my garage like you did.

How is that Merlin working out for you? Curious as I just installed one in my garage yesterday . It sure looks like a good one
There is no swivel for pulling in the direction needed
Any clue what the overall height dimension is?
What size were pilot holes?
5150 lol I guess only a few people will understand those numbers lol good 1
