In Toronto, generally (I could be wrong) and Aerial is a 75 foot or 32 meter straight ladder. The Towers are a lot like a boom in how the operate. they can split in a say...95 degree angle and still extend and lower. A Platform, is an aerial ladder with a bucket/ platform at the end. Here in Sarnia we just got 2 new ladders, like Torontos Aerials, they are now called ladders here. The old Ladder 4, which has a platform at the end is now the Tower because it is longer the the new ladders we have.
@mannic55 ------
They are indicator lights for the amount of water remaining in the booster tank; it is just a larger version of the indicator lights on the pump panel (usually they represent 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full). They are normally found on small volunteer department apparatus where an operator doesn't exclusively man the pump panel, and he can see the amount of water in the booster tank from a distance, e.g. while manning a nozzle located 100' away. .
Awesome vid from Toronto Fire Services!!...aka canadas biggest city! =P
Most of them are made in USA. There maybe Canadian standards, which maybe different than USA standards, but I'm not sure.
Most of them have Federal Signal EQ2B's and Whelen sirens. Not many have and if they do have the Q-siren, don't use very often or not at all :(
Thanks for the comment =)
The body on the trucks are Smeal, but the Cab and chassis is Spartan. Even if Toronto had an all Smeal rig, it would still be a Spartan/Smeal. Smeal uses Spartan cab and chassis, but change the look of the cab. Toronto has some International's, but not sure if they are running front lines anymore. Also freightliner, a couple Peirce I think, and that should about do it.
mostly toronto runs spartan cab and chassis with smeal bodies. there are a few american lafrance left, and the Towers are E-One I beleive.
nice vid
@rempledisposal the only thing i know about it is that its a Thibault, since Burnaby had 2 of the same truck
@rempledisposal not sure, i would say after 2002, but i could be wrong

Why wouldn't they be? :)
The thing I see here the most is a huge obscene waste of public tax money!
If the fire department is a waste of my tax money I don’t know what a good use of my tax money is.
