This Little Feat DVD continues our series of releases from the archives of legendary German TV series Rockpalast. Filmed at the Grugahalle in Essen in 1977, just a few days before the recording of their legendary live album "Waiting For Columbus", this DVD captures the classic seventies Little Feat line-up led by the late Lowell George at the very peak of their powers. Also featured as a bonus is almost 30 minutes of never before seen alternative rehearsal versions including material that didn't make it into the final show.

Saw them live with Craig Fuller in about 1989, the year after my dad died, and they sort of chased away some of the darkest clouds... For the Concord concerts they headlined the 2nd show with Jeff Healey opening for them, where Healey joined them for the encore. Was amazing - he was killing it but the band couldn't reel him back in because, well ... he was blind. Some of the most amazing 20 minutes of jamming I've ever witnessed.

This man (Lowell George) died when I was only twelve and I can hardly believe it, because his voice is still such a huge part of the music I first heard in childhood that is still with me to this day. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be Bill Payne when I grew up, lol. All thanks to my Dad, and his wonderfully diverse taste in music.

Never got the recognition they deserved!! One of my top ten bands of all time. I always thought of them as A Southern rock/ New Orleans Jazz sound! What a great combination of sound and music styles! George's Voice is one of the best I've ever heard. Could sing a Lullaby then turn around and sing the funkiest blues rock sound ever recorded. Way underrated by the mainstream Vaginas, but fans like us know what real music is!

I was a snowbird in the winter when I was young. The music down south was a whole lot different than what was played in the north eastern region. I was always telling my northern friends about all the bands, AB, J Gials, skinard, MH, L Feet, etc. Story short I was working in George Town I missed the day little feet stayed at the hotel I was working on the outside of the building on a swing stage about 50 foot or so off the ground when we left the night before when I got back the stage was where it was left the night before. And when I got on the next morning ooh the stories my crew mates could tell. 😂

I never got to see Lowell George, but I've seen Little Feat a bunch of times. Some highlights were Little Feat completely blowing the Grateful Dead out of the water in Giants Stadium, and a night with the Allman Bros. and the Bros. didn't show, and we were treated to a glorious 3 hour Little Feat show. I love this band. I wish I could thank them for all the music and good times, but alas, so many of them are gone now...

Legend has it that when they had shows the first two rows by the stage were noted musicians trying to figure out how'd they do that. Don't quote me but I believe that Jimmy Page was a fan. Ian Paice mentioned Ritchie Hayward as top notch. Did anyone notice that Ritchie was killing on back up vocals? He was also a sketch artist, some people have too much talent!😎👍🔥

I'm gonna tell you what: Dixie Chicken is the greatest singalong song ever. I believe that's what sits at the heart of what made Little Feat such a great great band... and Lowell George of course - who wrote all the songs. But when it came down to my favorite keyboard play in the world it was, Benmont Tench, of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, but, But, BUT if you ask me who was the greatest keyboard artist, I'd have to admit that was Mr. Bill Payne, hands down!.
