Looks like he is enjoying himself, well worth it to be on such a flight with the air flowing through one's hair and to leave the world behind/under you for a duration which many would prefer it to be much longer. Very nice design and so simple and so well trimmed.

There was a replica of a Cessna Primary (circa 1930) at the Black Forest Gliderport in Colorado. I flew it a few times but boy! was it high drag.

how do you communicate with the tow plane? Are there just agreed to procedures and communication isn't necessary?

Great video Lars. I had a glider flight at the Wasserkuppe once. How do you know when to release the tow line? Is it over a landmark or at a certain altitude?
What kind of speeds is the SG38 limited to on tow?
its limitet to 90 km/h.

Mike Breen Not really, because you'll just loose speed and stall. The only way to climb unpowered is to find a thermal, where a pocket of hot air is rising.

Can you just build and go flying with such a thing?
Or do you need to have the flight license? And it looks as if you regristed you airplane, don't you need to have an communication device?
Filmemacher its a registered and certified airplane and yes you need a glider licence. no communication device.
