Like Ginny stated, Artificers don't have that be Steampunk. They cast spells and make magic items. Something that we don't see in any other class.

Don't forget the good witches whose hats grow with every level. That why you know who is powerful. They are artificer/druid with the ritual caster (wizard) feat just to differentiate them from the evil witches.
