It also my first time gardening. My goal is to have the hang of it by time I retire and this is my "practice" season so I'm not taking it too hard when things don't work out..... just taking notes as I go. (Zone 7B/8A)
I’m doing the exact thing! I’m creating a notebook of dos and don’ts. I told myself not to be too hard on myself if something doesn’t go like I thought it would. I don’t want to discourage myself from one day being an expert at hardening. Happy gardening to you. Perhaps we can learn from each other. 💚
My first garden attempt was 5 or 6 years ago. I grew tomatoes! I was so excited to watch them grow and start to turn colors. I knew they'd be ripe in a few days..... Then i learned that the deer were also waiting patiently and the ate all of my tomatoes. Lesson learned.... Grow cherry tomatoes because they are quick to grow and ripen. 🎉❤😂
@@ButItsVegan i started to use tulle. It's a fabric that looks like mosquito netting. It cost me about $10 for a large piece. I drape it over my garden at night. I learned this trick from the CZcams channel "Gary and Robbie gardening". I just found your channel today, I'm a new subscriber. I love supporting other vegans!
Don't give up. I have found that I need to have patience and do a lot of research about what I am planting. I have checked out about 20 books from the library to help me learn. 💚
Also, spinach is a hard crop because you need 24 acres for one bowl of it😂 and it can be tricky germinating. My advice for small spaces is to try and find a substitute or similar green, that's more hardy and easier to cultivate in containers. So don't beat yourself up😊 that's a tricky one. Also, the spaghetti squash will most definitely grow and produce. However, since most store bought squash are usually hybrids (unless otherwise noted) the fruit of the seeds may not be true to type. Still edible, still better than not growing it just expect fruits to maybe have different characteristics than the parent fruit. Best of luck in your gardening journey, you got this!
Lol. I wish I had 24 acres to grow a garden. My spinach did finally germinate; now I’m just waiting to plant it in my raised bed. Thanks for the tip regarding the spaghetti squash. I probably would’ve been lost if I saw something else growing other than spaghetti squash 🤣. I’m going to need a lot of luck throughout this journey so, thank you. 💚🌱
New sub here. Can’t wait to see how your garden turns out. Happy gardening 👊🏾💚😊
