Benn didn't know where he was for a minute and still found a way to get into that pile
whether its a truck-stop orgy or a hockey game benn finds a way
no one ever said he was smart.
little late but clean contact
Wasn’t late at all.
SennaFan was that yesterday or??
SennaFan what was late about that hit? If you are already in motion to hit somebody and they dump the puck away you are aloud to finish your check. Benn should have had his head up.
SennaFan hahaha wow you are dumb. You even gave the buffer and there was not 1.5 to 2 seconds from the time he touched the puck to the time he got hit. Get you head out of your a**.
SennaFan maybe watch it in real time and not the slow motion replay.
Gotta love how these announcers don't throw Wood under the bus by calling the hit "late" 50 times. Take notes Hrudey and Ball...
If Sam Bennet's hit wasn't dirty, this one isn't either.
Zachary Simpson Bennets was dirtier
Zachary Simpson Agree
@@deanschandler really? This wasn't head contact though
Both hits were clean.
I agree
Jim Lites hired wood obviously
Thomas Siess He probably chuckled
How about that shot differential lol. 18 - 2
Brandon Reid in the second period too..
For the record, Benn saw Wood coming. You can see him start to brace for a hit at 0:47. Either way, it wasn't a hit to the head nor was it charging (even though his right skate was about a foot off the ice,) it was just unnecessary and late in my opinion.
It goes both ways. Granted Benn should've been looking more to what was going on in his path, but Miles came in pretty late after that pass was made. Looks like Benn was just trying to make sure the play was still alive in the zone and gets purposely blindsided.
In closer situations it's a clean hit, but this was definitely avoidable.
I'll admit when there's a dirty play from the team I root for. Miles Wood committed a dangerous boarding penalty last year and was rightly suspended. This was a clean, textbook, heavy hit. Sometimes guys get a reputation, or the sport is just getting too soft
I agree with you. Some people don't even realize the replay is in slow motion.
Woods starts skating towards Benn after he drops the puck , if this ain't a late it for you , nothing will be .
@@alexlemieux2854 he starts skating toward him when he's playing the puck
@@alexlemieux2854 he's on his way to make contact as the pass happens lol when you watch playoff hockey you realize that all hits are even later than this right
It’s getting soft. Worst part is there are fans that support it. While they are the minority they complain the loudest and the league is suffering from it. Look at viewership numbers over the yea s. Steady decline. These pansies can take fighting and hitting out of the sport but, then there will be no hockey left to watch.
Looks pretty clean to me, not a NJ fan but Woods already committed tithe hit when Benn has the puck, followed through with his check. Nice to see Lindell standing up for his team mate though.
It’s a clean hit, but definitely a late hit. I’m thinking worst case for Wood is a one game suspension but I think the 5 minute major will be his only punishment
Well if Bennett gets nothing for the same hit when there's 23 seconds left and you're already up 8-5...this better get no suspension
Well with the DoPS you never get consistency so that’s why it was worst case scenario. They already announced there would be no further punishment
@@Mchidragon shouldn't of even been a penalty
_SnapsZ he hit him 2 seconds after he let go of the puck
XpRtNoScOpEz he dumps puck back at 3.5 secs into video and gets hit just after 4....how is that 2 secs? Unless time is different in your reality facts speak the truth.
Benn definitely saw it coming so this was not a blindside hit. You can see him reacting as he sees he is about to be hit. Late hit and a penalty.
We need more of this in Vancouver
& a new owner!!
Good clean hit by Woody! But still, good on Klingberg for stepping up and Esa Lindell getting involved
clean hit but late = interference penalty
Clean hit, borderline late, 2 minutes max. Benn sees it coming, his face is in agony before they made contact because he knows what's coming. Poor decision by Benn to admire his pass, but you can't blame Woods for following through his hit a microsecond too late. A major is bullshit on this play, and I actually like Benn.
Benn got served with his own medecine.
He got Andrew Shaw concussed again last nite and he also never came back
The hit is a solid second after Benn got rid of the puck. This hit is avoidable and on a vulnerable player. Even if it is shoulder to shoulder, Benn is not suspecting a hit until he sees Wood in his peripheral vision. This is interference and a clear 5 min penalty. For those who are concerned about the league getting soft I can assure you that isn't the case. They are simply trying to remove hits that on vulnerable skaters away from the puck. The purpose of a hit in hockey isn't to light someone up but instead remove the puck/ person from the puck or as a pinning move to tie up someone to gain control. If you look back at the highlights of Scott Stevens his best hits were when he separated the attacking player from the puck allowing his team to gain possession, but he also had hits that were clearly dirty like his hit on Paul Kariya. Hitting is not always about clean contact but about the timing of possession and if it is a late hit how avoidable the contact was.
Then every nhl player will watch the puck and then you can't hit them or else you'll get a 5 minute penalty
Keep your head up Chap he basically skated right into a hit, not Myles Wood's fault that Jamie Benn didn't want to look forward
Its called finishing your check and theres nothing dirty about it
The NHL be like flip a quarter... 100 games or a 2 minute minor
the shots😮
Klingberg has never been in a fight i don't think. He was about to defend his captain though.
Tbh I dont want to watch miles wood play hockey. I want to watch Jamie Benn..... but you dont want to lose the physical aspect of hockey.
Only a tad late but very very clean. Honestly I think a 2 minute would have been a great call. Roughing that’s it. Nothing more nothing less.
That's hella clean
‘Miring your pass gets you on your ass.
So this is a little off topic but can we appreciate the fact that new jersey has only two shots in the second. And also the fact that one of those shots was a goal.
Benn is like...
your dead
Keep your head up kid
Ouch
Benn knew he got caught.mean hit
Well that's going to make Jim Lites much more happier
N.Y. Rangers fan - that was a clean hit, but the timing was late on the devil's behalf.
Zach it's not clean if u don't have the puck. Have u ever played hockey
Keep your head up buddy and you'd see that coming
Clapped
Old time hockey! Clean hit and a fight. Love it! Keep your head up!
Clean but late. obviously beef from their fight
"Good clean hit" LOL. It was late.
Benn should be watching, of course, he did see the hit and brace just before impact, but the hit was late.
Late hit but it doesn't matter. Devils lost. Go Stars! That's the only way Wood can get Jamie is with a blindside hit. Nice effort NJ lol
Dang it!
Scott Stevens.
Blind-side who hit guys at their most vulnerable - but he was NOT tough. And couldn't fight worth a damn.
Perfectly clean hit. Little late but clean contact
jokes on him they scored twice during the major penatly
There was a major given to Wood on that play???
Clean the way it was made. But pretty late to hit him that's why it's major.
Pick your head up Benny boy. Clean hit
It’s called finishing your check plain and simple . It’s hockey !
Looks clean
We need more Miles Woods in the NHL
It so sad that Benn was able to get up.
Apparently this is a dirty hit during the season but come playoffs isn't bad at all. Most hits in playoffs are finished and they are always 2 - 5 seconds after the pass
That hurt more than the owners comments
I cant wait for Reeves and Wilson to cross oaths again. Willys still buries that guy despite last meeting.
18-2 tho god damn
Yes, he didn’t have his head up, but guys... he left the ground... illegal check
when did he leave the ground? that left foot never even gets raised lol nice try
late hit clean though Jamie will be back in no time
Softest 5 minute major call ever
Bennett did the same thing to simek the other night no suspension. Clean hit got caught watching the puck.
Benn is injured
Agreed, immensely soft penalty call, not late, shoulder to chest, in no way is they a penalty let alone a major
Dev Oh 100% agreed
It was a blindside hit that was very late and is interference. There will likely be a suspension. Wood deliberately tried to injure Benn probably to get back at Benn from their fight last game.
As much as I like Benn, this is a clean hit. Less than a second after he passes before contact.
He should know better not to admire his pass and who's on the ice.
Hope he is okay, probably just got the wind knocked outta him.
Late, launching upward? Yeah, that’s a 5 any day.
Good
wait is jamie been the stars captain now?
are you ,,serious
Kind of late but of all people Jamie Benn should know not to admire his pass. Definitely not a 5 minute major. Also I wish Klingberg had dropped his gloves to stick up for Benn. Benn has always stepped up for teammates, would have been nice to see someone return the favor.
Ummm...did you see the replay???
@@sherrylee1420 what is false in my three year old comment? Lol
Are these announcers on drugs? Clean hit
Ethan Larsen late hit. Seems like you have think with hating on the Stars broadcast team...
@@dautreyjohnson3817 Not late. Look at the video time when benn fully releases the pass and when wood hits him. I'm sorry, but that isn't a late hit. That is a hard, clean hit to the midsection. No one wants to see someone get injured, but there was nothing wrong with this hit. The NHL Officiating team should show this hit and say this is how a hit should be delivered. The hit was directly in his midsection, and he didn't come from a blind side angle. The fact that Jamie Benn turned his head is not on Miles Wood.
@@ModestM2 Not late ? Wood starts skating towards Benn after he drops the puck , it is late af
He saw the hit before it happened, he winces before contact looking at wood, should have been 2min imo
BOOM
Clean
He's aight
Should've only Benn 2 mins. Little late so interference. Otherwise clean.
A bit late, but good hit.
Clean clean clean
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy
Legal hit
Clean hit but wayyyyy late. Good call
Late hit for sure. Puck was gone
Jamie got wrecked!! Got caught looking at his pass. Good clean hit
a little bit of his own game.haha
Good hit. Head up ,Jamie! Go Stars!
Clean hit, play on.
Clean hit
What a baby
@Dev Oh Calm down kid
Keep your head up don’t admire your pass lmao
Thank you good sir. I don't want hitting out of the game.
It was still a bit late. Imo, this should be 2 minutes for interference. Otherwise it was clean
Dev Oh nice copypasta
His head was up😂 late af
@Dev Oh "softy new fans" okay big boss
Miles MFing Wood!!!
#LITESISRIGHTNET
Keep your head up
Hit was borderline interference it could’ve gone either way but it should’ve only been 2 minutes not 5.
Not a late hit. The player that last touches the puck is considered in possession of the puck for 1.5-2 seconds after the puck leaves the players stick. You are also allowed to finish a check in that time. Maybe he shouldn't be admiring his pass. This is still a legal hit under the current rules. I don't see anything wrong with it. If this hit happened in the playoffs gauranteed it's not a penalty.
Actually their is no set allowed time, but the NHL mandate is around .6 seconds as per Bob Makenzie, Doug Maclean etc. 1.5 seconds is way too late.
Scuba Steve are you dumb
@@stephencook1004 yet playoff hockey allows for 3 - 5 seconds after the pass it makes no sense.
I’ve said it a hundred times and i’ll say it again, Miles Wood would be a great name for male pornstar
good hit
Benn been getting blindsided all week
Everytime one of these types of hits is called dirty, somewhere a little piece of don cherry is dying inside.
Clean, but late hit. No doubt about that.
I love seeing benn getting gooned. Mostly cowards from Victoria bc.
How is that a 5 min penalty good hit
Hyman should get 3 games for this.
That was alot late dont mind the hit itself tho
Admire ur pass lol keep ur head up
I'd love to see these two fight once again
Wood and Benn would be another great tilt for sure!
you could see benn was anticiopating the hit coming. wasnt blindside
Exactly the opposite was true - are u a moron or what?
I got winded watching that

@@Scuba1Steve not anymore. Weak ass nhl
Scuba Steve the suspendable time is .53 after the puck leaves. Per DoPS
Don't forget that Benn and Woods fought last time and I believe the refs saw this hit as an intent to injury. At least that's what it looked like to most of us.
jnigro187 Are u Johnny gaudreau?
No Hitting League
That was a great hit
