I don't know if I have EVER heard a bad song by CCR. Absolutely love them, of course primarily driven by John Fogert's unique and recognizable voice.
Some of them you just instantly feel on the first listen.
Some of them, like "Someday Never Comes", you might not get if you're too young when you first hear it. But everyone gets there sooner or later. Kids or not.
@@matthewteague623 Someday Never Comes is one of their best
no bad CCR bad song
@@JulioLeonFandinho Not according to John!
Per Songfacts, Hey Tonight" is the B-side of "Have You Ever Seen the Rain," the first single Creedence Clearwater Revival released in 1971 and the last the band launched as a quartet. "Hey Tonight" peaked at #1 in Germany and #13 in Finland.
John Fogerty wrote "Hey Tonight" and the band rehearsed it before the group hit the studio in November 1970. Fogerty regards the rocker as one of his better songs on the album despite the fact it was written in turmoil (the band was breaking up at that time).
TRIVIA
"Jody" is a mythical character showing up in Fogerty's lyrics to such songs as "Hey Tonight", ”It Came Out of the Sky” and “Almost Saturday Night”. "Jody" might be a homage to an American rocker Jody Reynolds, one of the early influences of John Fogerty. The Creedence frontman recorded a cover version of Jody Reynolds' "Endless Sleep" in 1997. He also used a couple of phrases from the lyrics of ”Endless Sleep” in his song “Searchlight” which appeared on the Centerfield album in 1985.
Interesting!
Thx
OK so I read someone else's comments and he said a Jody was viet Nam slang for someone who was stealing your girlfriend back in the U.S. not saying he's right , just thought that was an interesting comment too.
@@quincee3376 You are CORRECT about the slang usage of JODY and it is still used that way today - at least in US Army.
@@jamesbednar8625 oh OK thx.
These guys were a Top 10 hit machine from like, 1969 to 1972. It was the golden era of AM rock, with CCR, Guess Who, Three Dog Night, Chicago all leading the way with hit after hit, every few weeks one or the other had a new song climb the charts, hit the top only to be overtaken by the other...a magical time to be a young kid with a transistor radio plugged in his ear 24/7, or so it seemed...lol.
Thx! The sound of the guitar is early Beatlesque. Basic 8th note beats on drums. Same with the bass. It’s been used in movies most likely!
John Fogerty is a true songwriter. You do not realize until you go through some of his musical library, just what an influencer he is.
You need to do CCR “ SWEET HITCHIKER” .
Another great song
I thought that Jody getting religion might involve a lot of, "oh, God, oh God, oh God! 🤣
CCR, happened in the late 1960’s, A great group from California, who had a good run of hits, such as: Proud Mary, Born on the Bayou, Down on The Corner
That the understatement of the century. Very few artists have EVER had the string of hits CCR put out in just a few short years time.
Close to one of my favorite CCR classics! The driving beat is so frigging awesome! Used to love driving into my high school parking lot blaring this baby all over the place. Memories! What can I say!? Still love listening to it! U kidding me? Lol
Such a great band! I got to see John Fogerty in the early 90s. He put on one hell of a show, every song was a hit!
I play in bands and always look forward to when we cover CCR 💕
My sister and I saw him in the mid 90s. Amazing
Brad & Lex, you’ll love their “Who’ll Stop The Rain” and “Hitch Hiker”!!
These are the 2 "hits" left they haven't listened to.. Who'll Stop The Rain is my fave.. hope they get to it eventually..
Sweet Hitchhiker. My favorite CCR song!
I don't know if this has anything to do with the song, but for the troops in Viet Nam "Jody" was slang for "That guy back in stateside who's steeling your girl". The spectre of "Jody" as a possibility was one that haunted GIs. If you got a breakup letter it was called a "Dear John" letter, as in "Dear John, Please forgive me. There was this man..."
To "get religion" means to have a moment of truth, usually in an shocking or unpleasant way, like a "Come to Jesus" moment.
Well, sort of like the newer expression "take you to church".
Fogerty was in the service. He said Drill Instructors would talk about Jody all the time and it was part of their marching cadence. Jody represents the guy who stays behind while you're off at war risking your life and Jody is banging your girlfriend until you return. He's getting religion because your girlfriend is screaming, "OH GOD! OH GOD!" all night long. Now do you understand?
@@TheKitchenerLeslie Ooh, that patient way you explain a thing to person. It's so...oh, I don't know, but I want more. More!
This is my dad's favorite CCR song he is a 67' - 68' Vietnam 25th Infantry US Army infantry veteran. I guess when he came back state side he jammed to this a lot in his ride. 👍🍻🇺🇸
"It came out of the sky" would be great for a reaction. Got it on one of my few surviving cassette tapes (Slade, Status Quo, Steeleye Span, Hawkwind, etc.). And I've only got a 3rd rate (if that) cassette player in the kitchen so I don't hear them often. It (the cassette player not the kitchen) was originally use to load games to my first computer: ZX Spectrum 16kB RAM.
By the way, I think you might also like Wishbone Ash "Blowin' Free" or the 2Cellos cello-only cover of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck".
Every song Brad & Lex listen to: "This is different."
To me this sounds like other CCR songs.
@@RhettAndersonit's still Creedence just late Creedence
🤘 🤘 Sounds like classic Rock because that's what it is. Saul sold every CCR song to be in movies, commercials, etc! Much to John's displeasure! Y'all should react to Vanz Kant Danz a song John wrote about Saul and Saul sued him for it!
Another one of my favorites…do Someday Never Comes. Party down song, swinging from the rafters, burn it to the ground.
That sounds like classic CCR to me. I love it! Thanks, cats.
Finally someone reacts to a song from Pendulum, a very overlooked CCR album. Songs on Pendulum range from straight up rockers to very bluesy songs. It's Just a Thought is a song that'll make you think.
Ya Baby... "Pagen Baby" is a real banger and your right more from Pendulum.
Always loved CCR then and even till today with John fogerty still rockin at 75
One of my favorite songs ever by John Fogerty, such an incredible song maker, his talent was through the roof. He was the John Lennon of The Beatles, the leader, the one better than everyone else around him
Music from my youth and I'm only 55 🙃
Please do SWEET HITCH HIKER By CCR !!!
Love them so much
Great song. A couple other by them. Feelin Blue, It Came out of the sky, Molina
Another great Fogerty song:)
You will love their song, Looking out my back door. That would be cool.
Love you guys 🎉
Feelin blue
You can't go wrong with CCR.....good one 👍👍
LOve this song takes me back as a kid in 70s , music that just made you feel good and you sang with it, we didnt care what it meant , we loved how it felt and how good it sounded. CCR is one of the greatest groups ever and his voice is easy recongonizable
Haven't heard this one in a dog's breakfast. Hope you will check out CCR's Ramble Tamble - 7 minutes of bliss.
CCR released double sided chart-topping singles starting in January,1969, "Proud Mary" backed with (b/w) "Born On A Bayou"; 'Bad Moon Rising", b/w "Green River"; "Down On The Corner". b/w "Fortunate Son" were all Top 5 songs. 1970 saw "Travelin' Band" b/w "Who'll Stop The Rain; "Lookin' Out My Back Door" b/w "Up Around The Bend" were chart busters as well. A phenomenal run by 4 guys from Northern California writing and singing "Swamp Rock" themed songs about bayous and spooky swampy things. Oh yeah, "Run Thru The Jungle" is another good song.
Been listening to CCR for over 50 years. Never gets old.
Baptized by his Love, lol
There is a hard rock guitar sound in Hey Tonight,
as there was in Up Around The Bend,
whereas Credence is usually utilizes acoustic guitar.
You guys are beautiful. Keep doing what you're doing✌️
(As I'm letting out a big Sigh...)) The song just means they're going to party down tonight and have a good time, thats it!
This song is defiinitely crawfish boil material! I'm from south Louisiana, so I know a thing or two. Y'all are right regarding the sound of this song, and that the guitars sound more late 80s/early 90s with a bit more crunch and distorted jangle. But this was early 70s.
Lovin' the shirt, Lex!! May I suggest their song 'Tonight, Tonight' ? I know you'll love the video!
John Fogerty is raw talent in the extreme.
"Gonna get religion" refers to the partner calling out, "Oh, God. Oh, God, yes!".
Y'all really should check out "the working man", "Molina", and "ramble tamble". Three of ccr's best
Maestro Fresh Wes - Let Your Backbone Slide
Someday never comes.. Sweet Hitch hiker..The night time is the right time
Just finished working out for 2 hrs to CCR. Took me back to “ 69 “ sadly my body’s also 69
Me too - with the exception of the 2 hr workout 🙂.
another great CCR jam! ♥
Best cruising tune band ever! 😎
I love that you love CCR/
ty..for first time understanding lryics")
It was used in a movie, Who'll Stop the Rain. Used a couple other CCR songs too. He movie is from the late 70s and is about the Viet Nam war coming home to the USA over an attempt to cash in on a package from The Golden Triangle. The movie is definitely worth watching.
You will always like CCR. Hits well
RAMBLE TAMBLE!!!!
This was on their next to last album.
I think she's going to be saying, "Oh God" a lot tonight. 😉😄
"Jody's gonna get religion all night long." Oh God, Oh God, Oooooh God.
Hi Brad and Lex, enjoy y"alls reactions so much. Because of Lex's obsession w/CCR and crawfish y'all should really check out their version of "Jambalaya ( on the bayou ). The song is an OLD Country song done originally by Hank Williams Sr. but CCR do a real fine cover that I think you ( Lex in particular ) would enjoy.
It was not CCR, but the first single from John Fogerty and his Blue Ridge Rangers project. All the instruments, singing and producing was done by John
I stand corrected, however, there is a video on YT that is listed as crane I know Brad and Lex are fans of CCR so I thought there might be a better chance of getting a reaction if listed under CCR name.
It's a party song. Get religion: gonna get taught something, like how hard you can party. Get it to the rafters: gonna raise the roof.
There's a really good cover of this song by The Lords of the New Church.
Yep - I was about to suggest just that
Couples skate song.....hold my beer and watch this.
This one has the sound of Religious Revival about it. It's a high-spirited cry of joy!
CCR just has a Great Original sound that you know as soon as the Song starts who it is.
IT'S STILL FOGERTY YOU GUYS! :) BACK IN 70 BRAD AND LEX
Tide Lords of the New Church covered this and owned it
Hey guys! Loved your reaction. I would suggest and recommend the Eagles «Take it to the limit» live in 1977 where one of music’s most underrated voices Randy Meisner (the bassist) sings. It’s an incredible song and i would love for you guys to check it out!
Please react to 'Sandu Ciorba - Dalibomba'. It's legendary, in it's own way.
Jody's gonna get religion all night long.
Oh God, oh God, oh God, oh God!!!!
“Jody's gonna get religion.” “Getting religion” is a very Southern euphemism, meaning to start doing something in a serious and careful way…
Gotta react to "Someday Never Comes", by CCR
THIS WAS FRESH NEW IN 1970
Gonna hear the "sun"? I think he meant "song." Some people shouldn't make lyrics videos. 🙄
Anyhoo... CCR is one of the greatest rock bands ever, with a wide appeal, and across multiple generations.
I feel like easily 90% of lyrics videos on CZcams are full of mistakes, wrong words, mis-spellings. Like why make a lyric video without knowing the words to the song or checking your spelling?
I would think it's going to be a big time tonight.
Another song of my generation that is hard to analyze and tear apart. But it was a hit all the same.
You should listen to John Fogerty ( Hot Rod Heart ) ( Rambunctious boy )
if you haven't done Sweet Hitchhiker yet, then that should be your next CCR song
WICKED GAMES BY THE WEEKND!!!pleaseeee
CCR is arguably the greatest American band.
The members are all first rate musicians, and lead singer, John Forgerty is one of the best songwriters in rock history.
Their massive collection of classic hits include:
"Lodi", " Fortunate Son ", " Down On The Corner", Up Around The Bend", "Have You Ever Seen Rain?", Who'll Stop The Rain", " Lookin' Out My Back Door", Born On The Bayou", and the best version ever of "I Hesrd It Through The Grapevine",among countless others. They are the American version of The Beatles.
CCR is great. They've reacted to at least 11 CCR songs, including 6 you mentioned.
Fogerty
B side to "Have You Ever Seen The Rain".
Hey y'all! Lex, you look like you are not having that morning sickness any more....or not as much! Now, when y'all have the baby, get your mom to fill in for you! I would love it....wonder if Brad would??? :-O
1970
Probably not connected, but going through US Army training at the time a lot of the cadence chants drill sargants used a lot was Ain't no sense in going home Jody's got your girl and gone, am I right or wrong, ( response Your right), tell me if I'm wrong (Your right).
CCR/Fogerty give off a lot of Vietnam vibes and some of this sounds like a guy who might be leaving for Nam the next day. Just musing.
The day that there are no more CCR songs to react to will be a blessed day, indeed.
CCR is the best..
Actually it was recorded in 1970.
Ya, every song was a hit....five #2 ....9 in the top ten ,...but Never Ever, a # 1 Unbelievable.
Not in the States, but in Europe many....
Fogerty was in the service. He said Drill Instructors would talk about Jody all the time and it was part of their marching cadence. Jody represents the guy who stays behind while you're off at war risking your life and Jody is banging your girlfriend until you return. 1970 it was released....
Hey lol try this guy dismash kudeibergenov song is sos and keep your mouth close if you can best singer in the world lol cheers
Jodies gonna get religion all night now what does that mean lex
Not sure but I believe Brad was almost swaying a little, just saying, maybe.
I thought this song has a flavor of the Beatles.
Actually, he’s going to hear the SONG. it’s hard to hear the SUN

Not one of CCR's good songs. Deserves to be forgotten.Don't make excuses for filler.
90's??
A hundred people downvoting Creedence just to prove they have no taste.
my least favorite CCR song. Try some non-hits from the albums. "Ramble Tamble" for instance. I can't join live since I live on the other side of the planet.
C'mon Brad, I know you're a bit of a square, but we all know what "Jody's gonna get religion all night long" means.
You guys should react to more Creedence Clearwater Revival…
"Run Through the Jungle", "Sweet Hitch Hiker", "Someday Never Comes", "Commotion"
🎸🤘
More? They have reacted to about 20 songs from this crappy band in the last month.
