    When I first decompressed my lower spine, by accident, it hurt for a split second but it felt so good afterwards. But the soreness was the worse part. But ever since then when I decompress my spine my back is never sore as much as it use to be.

    I do this at night in bed before I go to sleep. I decompress my spine using a 10lb weight. I then roll over and go to sleep.IT's gradual and take awhile. Has helped tremendously.

    STRETCH YOUR PSOAS MUSCLE!!! I can’t express how important this is. 75% of back pain is due to the Psoas shortening and causing anterior pelvic tilt.     I realized it myself, that decompression helps. I have had a problem for 21 years, bigger or smaller, sometimes it lasts and I think it will never get better, inflammation, weakness, low strength. Then I use comfrey ointment, and lie down on the bed, on my back, I put my head under the pillow, and it's as if I'm meditating, lying down and breathing, while the body occasionally stretches by itself in the lower part of the spine. It's decompression, the organism has intelligence. But nothing helps if you don't "listen" to the disease, i.e. everything that bothers you should be avoided, and what it is, the spine itself says. Second, fast walking strengthens the back muscles. I walk for an hour every other day. In the last 20 years, I have walked at least 24,000 km. The doctor told me in 2002 that my problem at L4 - L5 lasts for 10-15 years, it's been 21. I don't do any other exercises, only walking and stretching, which I leave to the body, I don't stretch. You can stretch like that while standing or sitting, you just have to let yourself go. the body only stretches the problem area, i.e. the spine. (I'm 53 years old)

      @@healthfirstgroup1 As far as I'm concerned, yes, decompression is the best method. Walking, at a faster pace, with Nordic poles would be even better. But the most important thing is to avoid things that bother you, and what your body says is bothering you, e.g. sitting for too long, standing for too long, lying down for too long, excessive work, etc. As for decompression, I understood it instinctively, no one told me, I didn't see it anywhere. I was lying in bed, on my back, with a painful spine, the spine started slowly on its own to stretch the lower back, that's when I understood. The body has intelligence, it helps itself as much as it can. So, since 2002. I am dealing with this problem without having to undergo surgery. I have an X-ray from 2002. even today, L4 practically touches L5, there is no gap like the vertebrae above.

      What's worst, that's not all, when the spine is in bad condition, usually other joints are also a problem. After 50, I have a problem with my knees, shoulders, elbows, everything creaks and crackles, sometimes it hurts, but it's tolerable, I function. That's why I recommend, if someone is younger, and the spine is a problem, not to do any exercises on the knees, the knees should be protected.

    Yes, it actually works for me, I made it for 10 days and all my pain is gone, i will do 10 more for stability, and then check result in a year, maybe I will write it here

      Pain is gone, but numbness is still here, drx9000 doesn't solve the problem, your spinal disk will heal by itself. The only thing you need is a gym, I started working with my core stability and carefully making dead lifts. And it seems like my muscles start to decompress my spine a lot better than the drx9000.

    Hi . i had disc herniation in L5, im advised todo physical decompression exercise and spinal flexion exercises. Now my lower back pain is gone. But im an agriculturist, i have to carry weight on my shoulders in future. is it cause my disc to bulge again???

      Wear a belt and strengthen your core. Also try to lose some weight. This will all help

    When I was lying on the bed (spinal decompression machine) for around 30 mins, they set the level as per my body weight, it felt so easy and nice, but once it was done, I couldn't even sit or get up, it took me few stretches to get back up on my feet, my lower back - the primary cause I went to Physio, felt so stiff.
    Is this normal or it was just me? should I continue with it? I feared that I might have screwed my back further!!!!!

    I'm trying my own invented self-traction: I lie on my back, knees up, and press down on my upper thighs for a minute and let go gradually.
    Feels good at least while I'm doing it.

      Avoid lumbar spine bending
      When you gonna picking up stuff from the floor use joint sparing or short squat
      And for better understanding i recommend u to read back mechanic by stuart McGill

    This is only a temporary fix, It feels good while you are doing it, after the process of the compression stops, and you are upright again the disc will push on the nerve and pain comes back again

      What about the load transfer to the other joints? For a person susceptible to herniation... load transferrence means more surgeries down the road

      Hi John
      The relief is indeed temporary. However, the discs outer structure the annulous fibrosis is woven. Meaning, it can stretch and flex, and unfortunately have tears and small ruptures, herniations. If the disc has been compressed, a gentle stretch in the opposite direction will allow the disc to pull itself back into position. The feeling of easement of pain occurs, but the surrounding muscles may compress the disc back into place and so the pain returns. I don’t recommend any stretching if you have a true herniation, you may eject more fluid from the nucleus pulpous, which is acidic can cause severe pain possible nerve damage. If you have sat in a chair for a long time, and you get up, and you feel tension in your back, you may need a gentle stretch, which in essence is also decompression. The muscles stretch, the annulous fibrous also stretches, but what is interesting is that disc pulls itself together when the downward pressure of your body is taken away. So, I’m not a professional and any information I have is from my own experience in healing my back. The disc is always working to get itself back into position. I constantly gently decompress my spine, I also work my core muscle, abs, obliques, lower and upper back muscles. What is problematic about disc repair, is that it takes a long time. It took me a year. At night your disc rehydrates, expands, if it’s weak, you will have pain in the morning, because it will bulge outwards, and your back muscles will seize to protect the disc like a brace. You have to be very gentle in the am. That being said movement is essential for healing, you need blood flow. You need the muscles and your discs back into the proper place. There is little blood flow in those structures. They take there time to heal. I don’t use a Chiropractor, there is no quick fix for a tear in the wall of your disc. If it’s purely muscular compression then perhaps a chiropractor can make an adjustment and create the alignment that is needed and said pain relief will result. However, a physical exam to determine the structure of your disc, an MRI, is the the best course of diagnosis, if you numbness in your foot, searing pain shooting down your leg. An inability to raise your big toe. These were my symptoms. With disc repair best be a patient patient. I hope to find permanent relief as I did. However, my relief is constant due to my constant care and exercise maintenance.

    I do this on my inversion table… why is the pain excruciating when I’m inverted ( at my bad spinal stenosis level ) not sure if it’s helping just trying to put off surgery

      Don't go so inverted. Just go slightly inverted very gradually

      We would say the same. Slowly increase the invert so that you are not uncomfortable.

      The machine that they are referring to is large and very expensive. My chiropractor has one and I have used it many times. It helps for awhile and then the effect wears off. He has recommended that I get an inversion table and use it for a few minutes a couple of times each day.
