Would like to see step by step photos of your repair because I have the exact same problem. What did you do to the rusted rebar to keep it from rusting and bleeding through again in the future? How big of an area of plaster did you chisel out? Did you cut out and replace the rusted section of rebar? Thanks!

I usually cut out a rectangle about 6 " or 8" or 10". It just depends on how the rebar is laying. I cut out rectangle in plaster with angle grinder, break out plaster with hammer drill type chisel, then cut out rebar with angle grinder, then plaster over with Leslie's patch material. It's waterproof concrete so that has done the trick for me to not have it come back. It works better than the other that I have had it leech back through again.

How many feet do you get out of one of those patch kit units, I know it kind of depends on how deep the repair is. What's a good alternative can't I just use white cement and white marble aggregate mixed?

It gives you an idea of the amount of coverage on the bucket. Yes you can make your own mixture for plaster repair as you stated above.

    Richard,
I have a pool that was build at my family home here in Nashville, TN in 1962. The the rubber based paint oxidized and started flaking off in areas and the finish coat of concrete that is showing has eroded down in places. The concrete showing is not plaster but more like a skim coat of mortar. (vary similar to what was laid down on the lathing in old lath and plaster wall homes before the finish coat of plaster was applied.
I'm guessing it has not eroded down to more than 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch deep from the original surface plane of the pool wall in any of these areas. Would you recommend Leslies Patch-It Plaster Repair for something like this? If I need to send pictures, I'll look up your company and call you for the contact info I'll need so I can get them to you. It's hard to find anyone to talk to about this because nobody has a concrete pool like mine anymore.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Tim

You could probably use something like the patch-it material to fill in parts of the wall again. You just need something to fill in the holes or weak areas in the "wall" to hold everything in place. Sometimes I'm seen something like a mortar mix applied before on in-ground pools that have an inground vinyl liner. You may want to contact a masonry person to see what kind of mix they could mix up for you to redo the whole bottom of the pool and then repaint it. Hope that helps.

AFTER I REPAIR MY GUNITE CRACK WITH THIS LESLIES POOL PATCH-IT , WOULD YOU RECOMMEND PAINTING IT WITH A GOOD OLYMPIC EPOXY PAINT??

Not unless the rest of you pool is already painted.

Hi we just bought patch it for our plaster pool flat part had a long crack, my husband just Mixed it and applied it, now the question is the lady at Leslie's pool sold us apoxy paint she said we have to paint it, but we read on it to water base epoxy primer it, we did not buy it so so far we just are letting the patch it dry before filling with water

@@patty7187 If the rest of your pool is painted with epoxy paint, then apply more epoxy paint in the similar color to blend it in. If you have just white plaster, this mixture is waterproof concrete, so you don’t have to apply any paint over it.

can u apply it under water

Yes, but it's very messy, it starts to disperse almost immediately. You can try to take a dry clump and hold it in your hand and open your hand and force it onto a spot, but you end of with a clump of stuff on the bottom, so I don't recommend trying it underwater. You would be better served by using a 2 part putty epoxy underwater that smooths out easily. If you want to use this stuff on a repair, drain the water below the repair spot and it will work well.
