Essenza is good. Just comparing it to the others, it falls lower. However, it’s not a bad fragrance.
I love Essenza. It’s not weak and there is no B.O to it!
I’m a big fan of Essenza as well.
I prefer the brown bottles as oppose to those black ones. I don’t know why they changed the packaging and formula.
I agree . They made that change to be able to charge more since they went from Eau de Cologne to Eau de Parfum

@V Scents - agree with your thoughts on Essenza. The base was just unfortunately unpleasant, like luke-warm suds of used antibacterial soap. Intensa was one that I continued to hesitate on sampling, and it’s been one of my biggest regrets - by far superior to Assoluta as well. Pura is their niche mass-market, and certainly gets the most use by myself. Looking into trying Futura now, just hard to get a vibe of what I am in for from reviewers across platforms.
I completely agree with you. Colonia futura is nice, however I was let down by it.
@beardy272 So if you had to choose between the Pura or the Intensa, which would it be? And does one have better lasting power than the other? I'm thinking of blind buying a bottle of ADP, and I'm just trying to get as much info. as possible... Thanks.
@@oldiesgeek454 In an associative aspect, I would say that Pura is the logical extension of Assoluta, which could be considered the logical extension of the original Colonia - in an “updating” of the fragrance, if that makes sense. The original and Assoluta have a bit more of the exposed florals with that talc/powdered/soapy base (thinking of original Brut, Dana Canoe, etc.), with of course the Assoluta having a bit more spice with the chili pepper. Pura is ozonic and metallic, but not overtly musky - in the profile I would say closer to the feel (not smell) of Gentle Fluidity Silver and Gerrigue, as opposed to the more musky/deodorant-y Egoiste Platinum. Pura is more yellow floral, as opposed to white floral. Pura in all aspects is just a great, fresh, smart casual fragrance that can be summed up in its sort of Father’s Day advert - the silver of the label mimics the scent profile. Slightly more “synthetic” smelling compared the two aforementioned, but a very uplifting, bright, and refreshing (albeit linear) scent that suits any scenario and works quite well in high temps. This to me would have more appropriately been entitled Futura.
Intensa, alternatively, is a little bit of a departure with a smell that is mimicked in the label’s bronze. It has slightly more development, comparatively; however, it’s base takes over fairly quick and then remains rather linear. Where Pura is a fresh, bright, ozonic metallic, Intensa is a more golden-hued citrus with a leathery/deep wood dry down with an oily aspect. It is not heavy, but a bit “thicker” than the Pura. I suppose it could be summed as “less-synthetic”, but it doesn’t scream natural in my book. Synthetic is not a negative though, as both smell classy and wearable as a signature.
Let’s make it quick: Pura is the all-around compliment getter, but could be considered a “non-descript freshie” by a perfume snob - I would disagree. Intensa is the perfume snob’s cup of tea, as it has a more distinct profile that strays from the Colonia heritage and could perhaps be considered a bit more “mature” - while neither are “immature”.
Pura is the work dad, Intensa is the work dad after work. Sample both, test always when you can before purchasing, and consider ultimately owning both - I think they serve different purposes and are nowhere near redundant.
The fragrances don’t shout off the skin, and wear more like a sort of light oil over the skin - they wear closer to the skin, but can be perceived throughout the day with movement and warming of the skin (perspiration also activates them without becoming cloying or overtly powdered).

how's the strength of intensa on ur skin as i love it also but surprisingly getting very faint kinda performance from the bottle after testing from offciial vials n decants which were quite stronger in a way and richer. The spicy n woody or floral parts were more prominent. Is ur batch pre 2020 or post?
The Colonia Intensa is definitely a beautiful scent. I would go as far to say that it’s the best in the Colonia range. Sadly it dies out very fast on me. Although it’s not the worst performing fragrance in my collection , it tends to fade quicker. I would say I get 2-3 hours max, on a good day. So I tend to have to reapply it allot. When I worked for Dior, someone from production said that tester bottles and tester vials were higher performance versions to lure buyers in. Idk who true that is though😉.

yeah - have had Essenza (that bug spray note irritated me so i sold it), havin´ Colonia Intensa, Assoluta, Fico di Amalfi and Mirto di Panarea , only one that i would buy from AdP is Colonia Club.
