The drummer plays 100% acoustic drums.
This is peak Phish. The whole 97 run is incredible. I saw them three weeks before this at the Palace of Auburn hills and it was magic.
IZABELLA
I did all 97 Fall (minus Vegas/ car trouble) 12-6-97 was always "MY SHOW" I bragged and bragged about. Took me a long time to win people over becauae of the placement of the show. 12-7-97 and those soundboards but I slowly won kids over and when Phish dropped the 12-6-97 live, people finally told me, "Yo, My bad B, that Tweezer is what's up" ass Izbella on a legendary show. I will say to people who didn't jump fast, tapes didn't flow fast in 97 and every show had the riches. Man, what a tour to pick to be first full. I did ton 95 fall but they were runs not TOUR - anyone that's done full tours knows what I mean and why people who TOUR get little upset at people saying they on tour when they doing Alpine > DC and that's a rap.... Try 2 night Alpine > 3 night DC > one day off straight to south for Raleigh, ATL, Charlotte this all before coming from AZ, 4 in Cali, 2 at Gorge w/ no off night before Utah, Kansas... Then Pittsburg, Jersey and drive to It.... man 2003 put miles on tour kids but the band was throwing down wild parties. The ole "Ain't no party like a Phish Party" went hard 99,2000, 2003
Even band was beat in 2003 Summer ask Mike in Charlotte..... HaHa Trey had welcome Mike Back to show
“My Dad plays organ and keyboard.”
I wanna see your Dad react to Page absolutely killing it on this Tube!
Can't wait until we can all go see a Phish show in person.
My Gorge Premier Camping pass is frozen in Carbonite.
@@bartholomewcavanagh7222 That was a funnier comment than the credit it has been given
Your life just changed forever. Dive deep into the Phish rabbit hole.
Being a drummer you'll appreciate John Fishman from this band. There is a video of him playing with the the Jazz Mandolin project. If you haven't seen that it's a impressive performance, i think the song is "Oh Yeah".
If you haven't seen a live video yet of the band all switching places, I really super recommend it. Jon and Trey switched when I saw them. They played "Sexual Healing," with Fishman singing and playing... a vacuum cleaner.
This is one of the reasons they’re my fav band. Wow
Please react to "bathtub gin", "Reba", "you enjoy myself", "theme from the bottom", "46 days", "stash", "fee", "Wilson" & "punch you in the eye" thx. Trey is a really great guitarists & when he really rips hold on.
When Page stands up, I get down
Tube might be my favorite phish song now.
To see your face before the music starts makes me so happy. Knowing what you are about to experience!
The rabbit hole is deeper than you can imagine with this band. As others have said, there are so many different styles and aspects of this band to dig into. Have fun exploring! Enjoyed the reaction. In a funny way, I feel like I get the experience the song again for the first time listening along with someone hearing it for the first time.
Great reaction! As legitimately great as this sounds, this particular version doesn’t highlight Phish’s best and most noteworthy trait: their ability to improvise as a group. This “Tube” takes the opportunity to showcase each member, and that’s cool, but wait until you hear when they leave the confines of a song/jam and play totally “without a net” , creating jams whole-cloth in front of an audience - it’s when they shine the brightest.
Edit - here’s a link to a good example, but it’s audio only czcams.com/video/WR4rT1pV0J4/video.html
All acoustic kit ❤
Keep in mind they did 13 shows in a row at msg and never repeated a song. And there were a ton of songs they didn’t do. You’ll never run out of things to react to.
Even Metallica commented on that feat...
@@jgfunk did they? I’d like to see that
@@jgfunk I just found it. Cool.
This was such an amazing year for them. Saw Every show except one
When Paige stands up on the keys we get down!
You always know they’re gonna throw down if you can hear them laughing on stage beforehand.
The Phish from Vermont, where you can do what you want. Trey on guitar, Page on piano, Mike on bass and Henrietta on drums. it's party time!
Subscribed! Hope to see you do more Phish. So fun live!
Fish definitely not playing e-drums
Just FYI it's hard to see on this old video, but Fishman does play a full acoustic kit. He has some drum pads in his setup but otherwise it's all normal acoustic pieces. You can find a rig rundown of his kit if you search it on CZcams. It's basically a normal kit... but with like 15 extra pieces that only get used for certain songs. He's a pretty underrated player, but he is phenomenal and can play with ease in many different styles.
Not sure what leads him to believe they are electronic in the first place. Strange lol but yea I’ve seen the Spd-s pad in his setup but have never seen or heard him use it. I assume he got it for free so might as well stick it up there. Probably for endorsement sake lol he is badass though
@@ryanshaughnessy7200 I can't remember what it was but I was watching something recently and they got really spacey in a jam and he stood up and started using it a bit. But yeah it probably has a few random one off sounds on it for specific songs... like half the pieces in his kit that are barely used.
@@JP_43 Probably the Marimba Lumina during a "Mercury" jam that Fishman started using in '16ish. I was at this show and I think it was the boomerang pedal that Trey used to slay and was using heavily in this song that got him on the thought of an electronic high hat.
Good review man but Fishman does NOT play electronic drums like ever, never had. That is 100% acoustic kit as are all sounds.. on any Phish you hear, ever far as I know. Been listening to em for long time and idolize Fish as I am a drummer.. other than that part, well done;)
Man I really thought that was an electric set by the way it looked. Appreciate you pointing that out
yeah plus its in 97, idk if they had electric kits at guitar center back that lol, still awesome video.
I was gonna mention something to this extent. His electronic comments might have made sense if he was reviewing a 2021 set
Fishman is the star of the band night after night
Only thing that’s electric is his sample pad and marimba lumina
Loved the trampoline light rig. Still one of my favorites.
You missed the end jam after the pause OMG the best part such a sick jam. You blew it!!
Wait till little ikeman hears this crunchy groove!!😂
I was there. Ate too many mushrooms but I still had a great time
Mitch McConnel ROCKS! (keyboards,)
Tho in the shadow of Trey, they all work so well together and belong together.
More phish and I’ll be here. You seem knowledgeable. Sublime and atmosphere too please.
This Tube is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Want some real funk check out their cover of Robert Palmer’s “Sneakin Sally Through the Alley” from the same New Years Eve run of shows at MSG 12-30-97
i was at this show, cool!
When Page stands up we get down!!
Fishman playing electric??? Nah……. Never… cool review though 👍
Great review, love the phish phunk. Check out Boogie on Reggae Woman 6/7/2012
Check out moma dance or tweezer for some solid funk. If you want to dive into some of their biggest songs check out Harry hood, fluff head or you enjoy myself. Enjoy bud.
Phish....the ultimate jam band....and the inheritor of the Grateful Dead jam mantle...
Exactly 22 days after the greatest Tube ever. Cheers. Cowfunk at its finest.
Please review Foam by Phish
And Fish from Phish has never played digital drums
When Page stands up, we all get down.
More phish! Been to long! Harry hood next
No electronic drums my man! All legit… Jon Fishman… is playing no electric kit! 🤣 he is sooooo good that he makes it sound electric.
I was at this show and it was goddamn wild. Maybe give King Crimson’s ‘Fracture’ or Roxy Music’s ‘Mother of Pearl’ a spin.
Came for the PHiSH.... stayed for the classic Full Force album cover background
What is the album in-between MC Hammer and Whitney Houston? I'm guessing Flash Dance.
You are know ophishally a phish phan!
Yeah. Seen these guys 119 times since 1991. Those aren't electric drums. I have electric drums. And 3-4k would be a small medium-level set. Be hard to put a small DW acoustic set with hardware and cymbals together for less than 6k.
Electric drums? What you talking about man. John Fishman is a real man ass drummer.
Clavinet is the best.
Music by Trey, Mike, Jon and Paige, Lights by Chris Coroda. Loved the song and review, but please No More Adzzzzz in the middle of songs, it really sucks on this end. B4 or after, NOT during, please.
Hey Bob....reactor doesn’t control that. He doesn’t monetize his channel. It’s CZcams getting revenue from those.Chod would NEVER interrupt the music with adds....he won’t even make comments during the songs!
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 So Geoffrey, who makes the decision on putting the ad in the middle of the song. There are several reactors who don't have that happen. I don't mind them having an ad before or after the song, just not during the song. That is my objection, because it ruins the flow of the song and completely takes you out of the moment.
