  • Here is a quick DIY overview of the 20/100 hr service for the Yamaha SHO. Parts provided through PartsVu completed in my driveway. I do have some mechanical background but this is a project that can be done by anyone.

      Thank you and I am also waiting for the ice to be gone. I have a couple new toys to try out chasing the smallies.

    Thanks for the great review Greg, I do all my own maintenance also, and used your vid to ensure I covered all my bases. Thanks also, for the PartsVu tip. Never used them before, but I definitely will give them a look.

      Glad I could help. I grew up working on cars and try to do anything I can to save some $. This is my hobby and passion. Currently getting ready for my first BASS open pro side ton the James River. Check out my Facebook page Greg Fisher Angling for updates

      @@GregFisherAngling Greg, how did you do with the open? I heard first place was from the Chic dam, and flipping and square bills won it. I fished a club tournament the week prior to the open, but only had four for 12 pounds.

      @@jamescrist6738 it’s a small world we live in. Lol I finished up with a limit each day and a little over 20# for two days. 121st of 225 I was happy with the results for never fishing tidal water or seeing the James before Monday. Room for improvement on Oneida in July.

    Looks very similar to f250pet model. Honestly no need to take off the apron covers to drain oil completely. A vacuum pump would do just fine.

      @@ibrahimshamaal3733 Those pumps are great but I do believe draining them removes the most. It’s a little extra work but getting every drop of the old oil out can be helpful

    Just ordered my 100 hour service kit from PartsVu . Did you have to replace the o ring on the internal fuel filter housing? Or only replace if broken?

    • @GregFisherAngling
      @GregFisherAngling  Před 2 lety

      Honestly I don’t remember but I would guess to say yes I did. I’m usually pretty good at changing O- rings if they come with the kits

    Parts Vu is the way to go!! Have you used that service they offer well not exactly Parts Vu but the one where you send them a sample of your used oil to run tests to see how motor is running???

    How to get the SHO to stop making oil

    • @GregFisherAngling
      @GregFisherAngling  Před 2 lety +1

      I have not had any trouble with mine. Everything I have researched will say to run them hard especially during periods of break in to get the rings hot and seated. Trim the motor all the way down and make a long run get the motor up to operating temp and keep it there for a while.

    What oil did you use....is regular 4m or full synthetic

    • @GregFisherAngling
      @GregFisherAngling  Před 2 lety +1

      I use the 4m oil. I change all oil and filters every year regardless of my hours.

      @@jhondoe6664 Fortunately mine only made a minimal amount during break in. Honestly I cannot say if i was lucky or if it was related to how I did break in. I did follow the recommended break in procedure but made sure it was well warmed up during the process and kept the motor trimmed down so it had to work and stay up to operating temp during the process. Hopefully for you they overfilled it a little. If there is anything else i can help with let me know.

    How has the Skeeter held up

    • @GregFisherAngling
      @GregFisherAngling  Před 2 lety +1

      It has held up well. I will say each winter I remove the rub rail molding and go thru and check the top cap screws. After running the Great Lakes each summer I expect some of them to need tightened. But overall very pleased
