This video is about Strengthening the Chest Voice. A lot of singers struggle to mix back into their chest voices after being in head because the chest voice is weak and not developed. Often if the chest voice if comfortable, it is then neglected when exercising and warming up. The chest voice needs just as much support (or even more) as the the upper register. Don't neglect it.

Wonderfully explained, so clear and concise, and the exercise is really effective. I'd probably be classed as an Alto based on my speaking voice, and do a few low songs (e.g. Twist In My Sobriety), but mostly I actually have a really strong head-voice and mix voice - comfortable up to around G5 (can hit C6 after warm-up). The low tones, although I can easily get to them, sound too weak, wobbly and dark, and sometimes feel raspy in my throat (dropping my larynx too much presumably) - the 'inner smile' is something I try to remember - easy to apply in mix, but need more practice in chest voice. I'll be going through this video regularly over the next few weeks, I think it's going to help massively. Thanks very much. Subscribed - going to explore your other vids too 😃

I bit hard to follow along with the talking in between, I don't know when you take my breath because I don't know when you'll be done talking, and there's no warning when you finish you just start directly into playing the chords again. The exercise helps, but with better flow throughout it would be even easier to practice.

To have a strong mix you need to have already established a strong head and chest voice.

Why do I feel like the only singer that has no problem projecting higher notes in headvoice and sound like a tin can with puny vibrato in my chest voice lol? 😭

This is not uncommon if you have not developed the chest voice. I see this a lot in opera singers. But, with guidance and specific exercise you will be able to develop and strengthen your lower range, I'm sure.
