But the Prophet was happy that he has been able to end the state of war and gain a peace treaty. This chapter was revealed to put the minds of the Muslim at ease with the treaty. The ending verse (29) highlights their saintly attributes, reminding them that they should not react emotionally to the belligerent attitude to the Makkan disbelievers by falling into their trap, preferring war over peace, and causing disunity among their own ranks.
