Welcome Back 1309! | Trains Magazine Photo Charter

On the last weekend of February, Trains Magazine hosted a photo charter with Western Maryland Scenic’s, still fresh out of a rebuild, 2-6-6-2 mallet No. 1309. This is the first major photography event for the locomotive, however there will surely be plenty more to come.
Enjoy over 40 minutes of pure mountain railroading with the Pocket Mallet!

Though I unintentionally left his name out in the credits, Jim Wrinn was an integral part of the planning of this charter. Jim also also instrumental in helping getting 1309 and so many other railroad projects underway and completed. On March 30th, 2022, Jim passed away from complications of pancreatic cancer. This video is in memory of Jim’s character, contagious smile and the contributions he made to the railroading world.
