Can you imagine the remaining troopers and crusaders in Balderich's unit searching for and finding him surrounded by all the scrap and robot bodies sitting on that throne
It's amazing how much character development they can cram into these things. Watching these cinematics, all around or under 10 minutes, feels like you watch an entire 90 minute Pixar movie or something.
I really wish blizzard would just give these animation departments full reign to make overwatch, WoW, and diablo movies/animated series. I'd rather pay 60 dollars for those than the games they are putting out today.

You can see him on the throne in the game too. Great reaction, don’t feel to self conscious with the emotion… we all are emotional too!
The coin is there as well.
Some people are amazed that Balderich’s body remains on that throne to present day but if a well respected leader heroically dies defending his troops, beating a ton of bots by himself, and makes the effort to die on a throne, then you better have the respect to leave him like that cause that’s a historical monument now.
Literally impossible to not watch this and not shed a tear … or like me cry like a little girl …
The amount of emotion they put into 5 minutes of character interaction is completely unbelievable
This cinematic cemented how I play Reinhardt in Overwatch for the rest of the time I played. I never left my team behind, and in turn I'm not sure I can really remember a time one of those thousands of faceless strangers abandoned my side before I fell. We went in a loose cluster of heroes, but came out a team. Always.
I know this is a few months late lol, but the armor of a Crusader is their tomb, and they are to be left at the sight of their death in their armor as a monument to them and their deeds
It was considered tradition for a fallen Crusader to be left in their armor wherever they fell, as their armor was effectively their tomb and would stand as a testament to their legendary dying actions. Also, a Crusader's shield was considered their "Honor" and their hammer was "Glory" so when the two of them exchange the "Live with Honor, Die with Glory" lines at the end, they literally both end up following through on the order the other gives them.
This short came out 1 month after my American born German Grandpa who served in the Cuban missile crisis and the first years of Vietnam died. He was a Diesel engine mechanic for mine defusal/ demolition boats. He lived honorably but was always ready to die if he had too.
Fun fact their suits and overall role were based on the Fallout games Power Suit armor.

this animated short, changed a SHIT TON of peoples way, of playing Rain, even me... they changed to what he was original used for in the lore, a shield tank that protects his more vulnerable teammates, tho i still go off the rails from time to time...
I play pretty aggressive when I’m Orisa or monkey. I feel bad for my healers, but at the same time I try to eat every bullet coming their way. I’m the same with Rein though making sure that shield is up.
by overanalyzing wen you protect your team that shows your honor, but everyone only sees the glory of the one who kills. Rein by giving his hammer he is giving up the glory and living with honor. truly wonderful.

also a fun little thing is in game when you speak to Orissa with Reinhardt he actually shows a lot resentment towards her
Something a lot of people miss in this short is that Honor Is referring to their shields to live with, and once the shields go down They use Glory which is referring to their hammers which they die with!
And while Blizzard was producing awesome stuff like this, Disney/Pixar was producing...excrement.
