Velma was never this sassy and sarcastic in the original series. I guess after 40 years she's finally sick of everybody's crap.
She was dumped for a freaking dog, granted it was a a talking dog, but still.
Can't blame her, considering that during that 40-year period she had a love interest in Witch's Ghost whom she genuinely had cute moments with, only for him to turn out to be a lying bastard. So I think she has every right to grow in sass and sarcasm. And Mindy Cohn was such a great choice to embody these new qualities in her. :)
i say you could see the beginnings of it in early versions of velma. 1 was from the original show lol. and more recent versions got to flesh her out a bit more like what's new scooby doo, mystery inc, etc.
@@DJtheBlack-RibbonedRose I think this show was Mindy Cohn was the last show of her playing Velma. Kate Miccuci is the current voice of Velma. I read that Mindy Cohn quit after she diagnosed with breast cancer. I do miss her playing this role.

I love Mindy Cohn as the voice of Velma, you can really tell that she was invested in the character and did such a great job delivering all of her newfound sass and sarcasm :D.
And the fact that live-action Velma, Linda Cardellini, got to interact with her as Hot Dog Water was the epic crossover we didn't know we needed but Mystery Incorporated delivered. :)

It honestly makes sense why Velma acts like this in Mystery Incorporated, she has to put up with being the smartest and youngest member in the group (she's 15 and the others are 17/18)
Fred's a mindless fool, and Shaggy and Scooby are.. Shaggy and Scooby. Daphne (idk how to spell it) is just there, sure it's part of the plot that the team needs her but she honestly had NOTHING going on for her story other than the "we need her" plot near the end.
Sad to here since she was so good as a kick ass reporter trope in the saturday morning cartoon, but i guess that was kinda post mystery inc.
