I would argue that the US never really put any effort into the prohibition. That there were less than 50 prohibition agents per state and that they were low paid probably meant the whole effort was doomed from the start. Other countries such as South Korea and Japan have done prohibition of other substances and got it to work. However, I agree that prohibition is dumb for other reasons.

It's not just kidsthere are adults who have used this short-term and have gotten bad lung infections and almost died or died from vaping I know someone personally that died in 216 row kids that my daughter knows had tubes in their chest from a build up in there long and it got infected. One of the government's jobs is to ensure societies stability and happiness. How do you think they do this? One way is to advertise and to advocate for policies and/or plans that will be beneficial for everyone. Things like vape "bans" or taxes sure don't entirely fix the problem, but they definitely make obtaining vapes a lot more difficult, not only for children but also adults. Vaping is a BAD overall habit of society, I think that the governments attempt to make vaping alot less accessible isn't that crazy or out of this world. It's the governments job after all.

because cigarettes have been around in one form or another for centuries but vaping is brand new technology with little to no human trials done on them. There is evidence to suggest that they cause a whole host of issues with the lungs and are worse than cigarettes in the long term. What is worse is that these issues come more suddenly then smoking making it harder to predict or prevent.

devin reed the process for getting the nicotine is completely separate from the large companies that make cigarettes such as Marlboro or Camel. There are local vape shops that extract their own nicotine in my area. Someone down the line got paid by big tobacco to do this at least that’s what I think happened. Vaping helped me quit cigarettes more effectively than any other method, going on 4 years now! My breathing and overall health has improve 1000% so if the Gov't had banned vaping I most likely would still be struggling to quit smoking.

On a serious note...Banning flavors will DO NOTHING! Kids do not vape for the flavor, They vape pods systems for rhe head-high they get from the high nicotine salts. We DO NOT need 30-40-50-60mg Nic Salts in these POD systems! Vape pens have been on the market for years, Sold in gas stations everywhere and we never had one problem until Nic Salts were released and became popular. Now kids can vape 30-60mg of nicotine like its inhaling air because the nic salts are so smooth, It feels like your vaping 3mg of regular nicotine. The answer? Get rid of these nic salts, Go back to regular free-base nicotine in the pods systems, 12-18-24-32mg and these kids will not touch them because vaping 32mg of free-base nictone is so strong and such a intense vape, They will be turned off by it. The vape from a high nicotine free-base liquid is NOT smooth its made for smokers who want that throat hit. Its to intense for anyone to chain vape. The problem is the salts, Get rid of them and put a cap on nicotine and i bet we see fewer kids vaping. Also, Flavors are not whats putting these kids in the hospital. How is it that everyone has been vaping for years and years and nobody has been hospitalized for vaping but all of a sudden all these kids are sick? Its because of the tanks/pods/ecigs sold on the streets that contain THC that is cut with a unknown substance/chemical. Dealers are cutting the THC for profit with some nasty chemicals that when inhaled, Might put you in the hospital or kill you. Lets also not forget the kids who suck down a 50mg POD in 30 mins. You do that a few times a day, You will for sure end up in the hospital. Once again banning flavors will do nothing! Before I switched to vaping, I was *only* smoking a pack and a half or so a day. And I started with 24mg of nicotine, now I'm down to 6mg. I've tried going down to 3, but I actually vaped way more for the few weeks I tried that. So I've been vaping for about 6 years and don't see myself quitting any time soon. #LetMeHaveMyVice
I quite smoking two packs a day thanks to vaping. I cannot remember the last time I was able to breathe so easily. It's not healthy, for sure. But it's a fuck load better than cigarettes. I smoked 2 packs a day for over ten years.

As a schizophrenic ive smoker since i was 14, i stopped and started vaping for around 2 years. I recently started back smoking because i was having some drawbacks from vaping( only my personal affects). I have learned that nicotine helps so much with my nerves and better thinking. They say that 90 percent of schizophrenics smoke. My doctor has said i dont need to even think about stopping til I'm atleast a year without symptoms. I have audible snd visual hallucinations on the regualar but when i go have a cigarette it helps me relax and not focus on the symptoms. I agree banning vaping or smoking is against my rights as a American. If I choose to do something that is harmful to myself i should be able to do it at 23 years old. I'm sick of people trying to control what i can and cant do. Its getting to the point where you can be told what you can and can't say now. Please don't start smoking but at the same time i encourage anyone to live how they want to live.

Were these kids at risk of smoking tobacco anyway? Maybe, but there are a lot more kids vaping now than there were trying smoking when I was in school.
I've never smoked in my entire life, would it be weed, cigars or other. Never vaped either. I barely ever drink alcohol or coffee, and you'd catch me walking on the moon in a pink bunny furry suit before I ever touched any kind of hard drugs. I always saw these products as both addictive/harmful and a waste of time and money. Never saw a point to them, except for medicinal purposes which haven't applied to me thus far, thank God. My father smoke like a chimney when I was young and because of it I can't stand the smell of tobacco. Whenever I spot a smoker on the sidewalks of my city, I give them the widest reasonable berth. Lung cancer took the life of my uncle last year at age 61 because he spent his entire life smoking pot and cigarettes. May he rest in peace. Once I met a girl at work who I very much fancied, 'till I learned she was a chain smoker literally moments before I intended to ask her out. Immediate turn off. But don't worry, she found herself another chain smoker to accompany her to an early grave. Needless to say, I don't hold much regard for the habit of smoking. And despite it all, I would never wish for the government to infringe upon someone's right to consume such garbage. Bans don't work anyway. They just make it all the more dangerous for the people involved as gangs pick up the slack and supply the demand anyway. I say let them vape and stop wasting tax payer dollars on bans and endless drug wars.

My thoughts exactly. That's probably what's caused it in the first place. After FDA regulations, price go up and places go out of business. So some people might be more apt to buy it from the crackhead down the street with bath salts and battery acid in it or attempt to make it yourself and use enough dicetyl to give everyone in a 100 foot radius popcorn lung. Don't think making them illegal will solve anything. Same for THC cartridges, simple solution, legalize it.

If you control how much you take in the damage is not going to be as bad as it would be if you keep taking hit after hit until your tank is empty again. Because I, myself, have never had any serious problems from vaping unless I of course did it non stop every day but that was after months of use from a big box mod hitting it at 120 watts. At that point you can feel chest pain but thats when you know you went too far, and i have a little bit of asthma not to serious plus i smoke marijuana which i believe has helped my lungs heal believe it or not because it helps me cough up the juice that condensated on my lungs.

I would argue that the US never really put any effort into the prohibition. That there were less than 50 prohibition agents per state and that they were low paid probably meant the whole effort was doomed from the start. Other countries such as South Korea and Japan have done prohibition of other substances and got it to work.

because cigarettes have been around in one form or another for centuries but vaping is brand new technology with little to no human trials done on them. There is evidence to suggest that they cause a whole host of issues with the lungs and are worse than cigarettes in the long term. What is worse is that these issues come more suddenly then smoking making it harder to predict or prevent.

devin reed the process for getting the nicotine is completely separate from the large companies that make cigarettes such as Marlboro or Camel. There are local vape shops that extract their own nicotine in my area. Someone down the line got paid by big tobacco to do this at least that’s what I think happened. These things don’t just happen out of nowhere like this.

I started smoking again I only started vaping 3 months ago and I like the fruity flavors not to sweet but now I'm smoking nasty cigs again within the last week idk I did feel healthier that was my experience so far
On a serious note...Banning flavors will DO NOTHING! Kids do not vape for the flavor, They vape pods systems for rhe head-high they get from the high nicotine salts. We DO NOT need 30-40-50-60mg Nic Salts in these POD systems!
Vape pens have been on the market for years, Sold in gas stations everywhere and we never had one problem until Nic Salts were released and became popular. Now kids can vape 30-60mg of nicotine like its inhaling air because the nic salts are so smooth, It feels like your vaping 3mg of regular nicotine.
The answer? Get rid of these nic salts, Go back to regular free-base nicotine in the pods systems, 12-18-24-32mg and these kids will not touch them because vaping 32mg of free-base nictone is so strong and such a intense vape, They will be turned off by it. The vape from a high nicotine free-base liquid is NOT smooth its made for smokers who want that throat hit. Its to intense for anyone to chain vape.
The problem is the salts, Get rid of them and put a cap on nicotine and i bet we see fewer kids vaping.
Also, Flavors are not whats putting these kids in the hospital. How is it that everyone has been vaping for years and years and nobody has been hospitalized for vaping but all of a sudden all these kids are sick? Its because of the tanks/pods/ecigs sold on the streets that contain THC that is cut with a unknown substance/chemical. Dealers are cutting the THC for profit with some nasty chemicals that when inhaled, Might put you in the hospital or kill you.
Lets also not forget the kids who suck down a 50mg POD in 30 mins. You do that a few times a day, You will for sure end up in the hospital.
Once again banning flavors will do nothing! The only thing it will do, Is collapse the vape market and all the shops will be forced to close. Which means jobs lost and Money lost. Vaping will not survive if flavors are taken away.

Before I switched to vaping, I was *only* smoking a pack and a half or so a day. And I started with 24mg of nicotine, now I'm down to 6mg. I've tried going down to 3, but I actually vaped way more for the few weeks I tried that. So I've been vaping for about 6 years and don't see myself quitting any time soon. #LetMeHaveMyVice

As a schizophrenic ive smoker since i was 14, i stopped and started vaping for around 2 years. I recently started back smoking because i was having some drawbacks from vaping( only my personal affects). I have learned that nicotine helps so much with my nerves and better thinking. They say that 90 percent of schizophrenics smoke. My doctor has said i dont need to even think about stopping til I'm atleast a year without symptoms. I have audible snd visual hallucinations on the regualar but when i go have a cigarette it helps me relax and not focus on the symptoms. I agree banning vaping or smoking is against my rights as a American. If I choose to do something that is harmful to myself i should be able to do it at 23 years old. I'm sick of people trying to control what i can and cant do. Its getting to the point where you can be told what you can and can't say now. I mean look at all these new alcohol companies and their strategy’s. More fruity flavors that appeal to younger adults and teens, and on top of that, they’re making drinks that don’t even taste like they have alcohol, but still get you fucked up. But yet again alcohol is pretty grandfathered but the industry is changing its perspective but Is the government doing anything about that??? no.... I’ve drank a few times and I felt like shit and it didn’t really appeal to me but I’ve been vaping for 5 years, 3 years vaping salt nic and I haven’t had any negative side affects. all the people that died were smoking on fake thc carts that someone probably made and packaged in their living room, that’s what the govt should be regulating

@@DeathxStrike18 Not true, CDC has been examining the impact of vaping for over a decade. So far is inconclusive, can't tell if it's the vaping or the stuff being put into the vape oil. Most likely cause is fillers being added to the after market cartridges.

youd be surprised a lot of Big tobacco companies have stakes in the ecig industry now. Altria for instance who make Malboro cigarettes owns a 35% stake in Juul, and most other companies have their own products on the market as well. now im not saying they aren't paying millions out lobbying against vaping but its nowhere near as much as they used to

Naw they where for vaping to get everyone hooked and now wanna take it away so people only have cigarettes where the government can collect their huge tax percentage. Smoking was down in teens year over year until vaping came onto the scene.
You know Big Pharma wants people ONLY using their own "pre-approved substances" as well. They hate CBD oil for relieving pain/stress/anxiety. They'd rather you be one of their lucrative prescriptions, often times ones that have worse side-effects. Big Pharma has huge money and very powerful lobbying as well.
Hugh Jaynis Wrong. Studies consistently show that kids who vape are significantly more likely to smoke cigarettes. In this case it really is a gateway scenario. Were these kids at risk of smoking tobacco anyway? Maybe, but there are a lot more kids vaping now than there were trying smoking when I was in school.

No one is going to start an underground crime organization around vaping. Vaping is just too gay.
I've never smoked in my entire life, would it be weed, cigars or other. Never vaped either. I barely ever drink alcohol or coffee, and you'd catch me walking on the moon in a pink bunny furry suit before I ever touched any kind of hard drugs. I always saw these products as both addictive/harmful and a waste of time and money. Never saw a point to them, except for medicinal purposes which haven't applied to me thus far, thank God. My father smoke like a chimney when I was young and because of it I can't stand the smell of tobacco. Whenever I spot a smoker on the sidewalks of my city, I give them the widest reasonable berth. Lung cancer took the life of my uncle last year at age 61 because he spent his entire life smoking pot and cigarettes. May he rest in peace. Once I met a girl at work who I very much fancied, 'till I learned she was a chain smoker literally moments before I intended to ask her out. Immediate turn off. But don't worry, she found herself another chain smoker to accompany her to an early grave.
Needless to say, I don't hold much regard for the habit of smoking. And despite it all, I would never wish for the government to infringe upon someone's right to consume such garbage. Bans don't work anyway. They just make it all the more dangerous for the people involved as gangs pick up the slack and supply the demand anyway. I say let them vape and stop wasting tax payer dollars on bans and endless drug wars.

Isn't this what the FDA is for? I feel we need to educate and make it harder for kids to get. I personally think it's going to be worse for you than cigarettes and we just have not figured it out. Kids go to school to be a pulmonologist and you will never be out of work. I predict Emphizema will become an epidemic in our future.

I smoked cigs for 30 years. Three years ago I switched to vaping and I'm down to 3 mg. I no longer cough every morning, my sense of smell and taste has returned, and I don't stink like an ashtray anymore.

My thoughts exactly. That's probably what's caused it in the first place. After FDA regulations, price go up and places go out of business. So some people might be more apt to buy it from the crackhead down the street with bath salts and battery acid in it or attempt to make it yourself and use enough dicetyl to give everyone in a 100 foot radius popcorn lung. Don't think making them illegal will solve anything. Same for THC cartridges, simple solution, legalize it.

@@btraink187 Smoke a pack of cigarettes in an hour and i guarantee you will have a hard time breathing and your lungs will feel very heavy, this goes the same with vaping. If you control how much you take in the damage is not going to be as bad as it would be if you keep taking hit after hit until your tank is empty again. Because I, myself, have never had any serious problems from vaping unless I of course did it non stop every day but that was after months of use from a big box mod hitting it at 120 watts. At that point you can feel chest pain but thats when you know you went too far, and i have a little bit of asthma not to serious plus i smoke marijuana which i believe has helped my lungs heal believe it or not because it helps me cough up the juice that condensated on my lungs.
