There's a game coming out this year very similar to this one called "Atomic Heart". It looks like a mesh of Doom, singularity and a little bit of bioshock. Also the music is being made by Mick Gordon (Doom music guy)
I love how they tried to copy bioshock but unintentionally predicted bioshock infinite
Raven is right up there with Id in my personal FPS dev pantheon. With the Microsoft acquisition, they'll hopefully get to be under the same flag again and who knows. Good things may come out of that.
Played this when it first came out. Absolutely loved it, and I've never heard anyone talk about it since. I wish it was taken more seriously by Activision. Such a gem.
I have not played the game, but I do remember hearing about it and they had kind of an ARG thing going that seemed interesting. There is the possibility that it went through a big re-write late in development (rarely a good thing) as unless my memory is bad the Main character was actually a US fighter pilot who had crashed on the island. Not part of team of spec ops. Who knows what else changed? And was the stuff that got changed a down grade rather than an upgrade. IMO playing a fighter pilot would have been more interesting. sm
Singularity is one of the most slept on games of all time. It's seriously such a good game. Easily one of the best single player FPS games of it's time.
Soviet Bioshock before Atomic Heart
As a dude that's been obsessed with the Bioshock series for years, I can't believe I have never heard of this game.

Oh cool. My dad worked on this game as an animator. In the school level, there’s drawings made by kids. One of them was mine when I was in preschool (maybe kindergarten?) and the another was made by my best friend at the time. My younger brother is in the credits as he was born during the games development.
Fun fact: The early version of Singularity is much different than what it eventually became:
I played the multiplayer, it was fun. One team played as soldiers and the other played as the monsters.

I remember my dad playing this game when it came out. I eventually convinced him to let me play it, and it technically became my first "horror" game. It terrified me as a kid, but I toughed through the whole game and was so proud to 100% it.

I actually visited Raven Software's hq in 2009. Got to see them do mo-cap live for either wolverine or singularity. Talked to the staff. It was a gem of a time.
Singularity was a solid attempt of a bioshock clone.
Singularity is absolutely a marvelous game.
I am glad to see more people talking about this game it was one of the few games I didn't pirated so it is special to me
