  • This is where I tried Ayahuasca for the first time: tr.ee/rkyHseLtiA
I share my experience at an Ayahuasca retreat in the Peruvian Amazon. Ayahuasca is not for everyone and sitting through a ceremony can be extremely challenging and unpredictable. The retreat center that I went to made me feel completely safe and I would recommend it to anyone that was already searching for this experience. You can even visit their website and schedule a consultation to see if this is right for you.

    Namasté Brandon,
I was wondering if after doing Ayahuasca once, you still eat junk food (biscuits, deserts, pizza...) and anything else you want (meat, oils, vegan foods, burgers, street food...). Do you follow a diet after taking the medicine and still this diet continues then?
    Same for Huachuma?
did taking ayahuasca many times changed you diet overall? and with Huachuma?
I am half French and Cuban, I want to eat cuban food wich is delicious, wondering if the medecine remove the appetite for oils, meat and junk food I love.. thank you❤

Hi Christian! Thank you for the question. Yes, I still eat junk food lol. Ayahuasca and Huachuma have definitely made me much more aware of what I put in my body though. I am so much more inclined to eat clean now. I don't think these plant medicines will remove the love for your Cuban food but they may cause you to be more intentional about when and how much you eat.
Are you thinking of having one of these experiences soon?

Did the staff help with setting intensions? Does one discuss them with the shaman so that they direct the experience accordingly?

Yes, we all had time to share what our intentions were with the staff (as a group) and any time one on one. You also had the ability to speak directly with the curanderos/shaman before the ceremonies. I mentioned an issue I was having with my stomach and so that night one of the staff whispered to the curandera (before she started singing) as a reminder of what my issue was. It made a huge impact and my stomach pain went away. Still, they always make it a point to remind you of the all-important saying when it comes to plant medicines, “it gives you what you need, not what you want.” This process is all about surrender, so while it’s important to come with an intention, it’s arguably more important to trust that you will receive the thing that you need most to heal and expand.

@@mindful_wanderMany thanks! While I love the idea that one needs to surrender and trust in the medicine to get what one needs, I get stressed by not being able to correctly formulate my intentions although I know what they are. There are a few actually and I'd love to bring them all to Mother Aya but there are 'only' 4 ceremonies. Watching different videos I get a strong sense that prior to each ceremony one should have an intention which should be short, easy to remember and formulated using a positive language. That's what I'm struggling with. In my head I'm looking for a short sentence which would encompass all the things which are on my mind.
