They put so much love in their websites in 4 and 5, yet most players never see them. Quite sad but it shows rockstar’s commitment towards building immersive world building.
Then they put invasive DRM.
I've made it a habit to browse the internet when there's nothing to do in the game, and after certain points in the story.
Its this sorta subtle stuff that REALLY immerses a person in a game, finding all this takes the same effort as it would in real life. Such an effective immersion tactic.

there definitely will be tones of jokes but it won't be the same.. the jokes will be toned down a lot to not offend people so easily, maybe done in a smart way that snowflakes won't get it.

i remember when i was 13 and fascinated with the websites in gta 4, i spent like hours on end searching and trying to find easter eggs or hidden stuff in the websites, it was nice.

The NPCs in GTA 4 were superior, as well. There are so many different dialogues that happen just randomly between NPCs. Same with NPCs getting arrested, cops telling them things like "This many cards??? Shit, what you doin, magic tricks????"

The thing is, IV was such a departure from the regular formula that most people who liked IV had a small chance they wouldn't like the other games.

literally none of this is risky, nobody would get offended. Yeah there are a few jokes in IV that wouldn't fly today, but outside of those it was relatively tame.
I myself, am excited to see the "year of the Eunux computer" in GTA VI hopefully.
