The show is well written enough and the characters entertaining and well played enough to stand on its own merits. Remove Sheldon from the plotlines and you still get some solid entertainment. in the end, Sheldon becomes a nuissance half the time he's on screen (no bash on the actor who is great), and Mary jonesing between being a neglectful/abusive/controlling hypocrite and actually being entertaining to watch... it becomes old fast (again, kudos to the actress).... but the show "has" to revolve around Sheldon because it's a spinoff... when George Jr and his plotlines are so much more fun and Missy is reduced to being the third wheel in most situations purely because it all revolves around Sheldon.
