Rakim is one of the best lyricist to ever hold a mic. I can't think of a bad Eric B & Rakim song, even the instrumentals are fantastic. Rakims solo work is also amazing.
Eric B and Rakim, BDP, and EPMD were pretty much the pinnacle of 80s hip hop. You can't go wrong with any of them.
Both albums....Paid In Full & Follow The Leader!!🔥🔥🔥
Would love to see you do more Eric B & Rakim 😤😤
The God MC. Best rapper ever.
Flava-flav on a background tip :) - it rolls nicely doesn't it - I'm stoked you enjoyed this :) 80s/ early 90s Hip Hop soudns like a nice direction to take for you :)
I didn't know what Flavor Flav looked like until I saw this video back in the day. He was buggin'.
He said he’d take 7 mc’s and put them in a line, add 7 more brothas who think they can rhyme, and take 7 more and eat up all 21 at the same time.
Eric B is the DJ, Rakim is the rapper its pronounced (Rock Kim) Check out Microphone Fiend by them, also Cant Truss it by Public Enemy.
Don't Sweat The Technique!
YES! My favorite of all their tracks.
I was lucky Enough to see him in London in 2011. He caught a boat over as he has a fear of flying, hence has rarely performed outside of the US. Supporting De La Soul and Blackstar (Mos Def and Talib Kweli). One of the best gigs I've been to in my life.
Paid in full a must listen.
Glad you enjoyed this. Rakim is one of the first rap artists to be featured on a song with a singer (Jody Watley's "Friends"). Top #10 hit!
You’ve done it now! You’ve got to do more Eric B & Rakim! They have so much music. Take your pick. I will say that I was a little hurt that you didn’t recognize Flava Flav of Public Enemy in the video, but that’s what these reactions are for. This is how you get experience music you’re not familiar with. I think you would like Public Enemy, Kool Moe Dee, and Big Daddy Kane too.
Originality is the best. The Snowman is nice to listen to "Informer." Nice to here originality&different styles.
Now this is some old school keep bring them
One of the best lyricists of all time along with Big Daddy Kane IMHO. I find it surprising and sad all at the same time that there are people out there who've not heard this music.
Nice! That's nostalgia right there.
80's rap. We use to rock this back in the day. Back when rap was at its finest.
Legends
He was a legend in his own time, there was no one like him. Still a great show today. Saw him last year.
The rap g.o.a.t. I recommend Lyrics Of Fury or Follow The Leader next, the rapping on those tracks is unbelievable
Check his track, 'I know you got Soul'!
That and 'Juice' are his 2 biggest hits that aren't dated.
Rakim is at the absolute top of my list all day long.
I don't understand how anyone puts Eminem at the top of theirs when Rakim exists.
What you were sensing and feeling my brother, was the unmistakable truth, power & vibrations that spring directly from one of the direct descendants of the foundation of Hip-Hop...The god Rakim! Do yourself & your followers a favor, and check out other descendants in Rakim's class like: Kool G Rap & Polo, King Sun, KRS-1, Big Daddy Kane, X-Clan, Kool Keith, MC Shan, and more...thank me later! : )
YES
Man was way ahead of his time
My favorite MC ever.
My Melody
Follow The Leader
Eric B Is President
As The Rhyme Goes On
Lyrics Of Fury
I Know You Got Soul
Microphone Fiend
Paid In Full
This reminds me of all the rap/hip hop shows on TV back in the day. I didn't have MTV (or cable), so I watched all I could. Loved them all, too. I even collected Yo! MTV Raps cards 😂 Kinda wish I still had them.
One of my favorites of all time 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Flava Flav!
Nas and rakim are my 2 favorite mcs ever.word up son
Great reaction. Check out Eric B and Rakim "Know the Ledge" and "Follow the Leader" (not the video).....Classics..
My favorite MC… the greatest rapper of all time in my opinion…
Love you jayvee.great music.
80s NYC hip hop.....YESSSSS!
The DJ is Eric B and the rapper is Rakim
As a testament to how good he is, you said that you could tell how long he had been doing this. He was 18 when this song came out.
That was my Hip Hop Era mid 80ties - beginning of the 90ties....
In general
the beat : "just pure Funky"...no happy peppie R&B influence
the rapping : "Funky + on beat" and no mumbling because the rappers had actually something to say
By the way the beat for "I aint no joke" was from the James Brown track "Pass the peas"
and the dancer in blue was Flavor Flav from Public Enemy who was also a very influencal top tier Hip Hop band at that particular time because, besides of their greatness, almost every Hip Hop artist at that time used Public Enemy sound samples...
The music is amazing!
He is my favorite rapper of all time. My favorite song of his is "Know the Ledge". There are so many though. "Paid in Full", "Eric B for President". Those will get you started.🎉
On fire 🔥 today Jay…
He is the God MC.
In 1986 Rakim came out and changed the trajectory of hip-hop
The reason I got into hip hop and still am The 2 greatest PAID IN FULL THE JOHN COUGAR MIX AND FOLLOW THE LEADER I'M JUST A LITLLE WHITE BOY IN ENGLAND BEEN INTO THESE SINCE 1986 ALL THE WAY SORRY BOUT CAPS LOST A LENS BROTHER I'M 55 NOW MY TASTES HAVE MELLOWED BUT ALWAYS A SPOT FOR ERIC B AND RAKIM PEACE OUT
The 7 MCs is a reference to his song “My Melody” “I take 7 MCs put them in a line…” you gotta hear the rest
Flavor Flav dancing.
The 7 emcee's verse is referencing the song "my melody" when he say.
Take seven emcee's put em in a line
Add Seven more brothas who think they can rhyme
It'll take seven more before I go for mine
Now that's 21 emcee's layed up at the same time.
Hey Jovaughn! I also love the purple light and the salt lamp, if that's what it is. 💜💜💜
Paid in Full….
1988 hip hop suggestion! Boogie Down Productions, My Philosophy or Illegal Business. SO MUCH TRUTH IN THERE!
❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
But probably My Philosophy.
Thank you so much for your comment.
"My Philosophy" by Boogie Down Productions is my favorite Hip-Hop song!.
@@Music-Is-Real-Love, awesome! It's so good. Leave it as your own comment too! The more he sees it, the closer he may get to reacting to it?
next try Eric B and rakim Lyrics Of Fury. this is from 1985
Jayvee you MUST do Paid in Full 😊.
Rakim is top tier.
Those 7 MCS is a reference to his other song, “ My Melody” which you have to react to that one.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
❤❤❤❤
Eric B is the D.J. Rakim is the rapper.
My favorite..BARS for that azz
Good reaction, man. Definitely worth listening to Rakim. You should also check out When i be on tha mic, R.A.K.I.M, and Heat it up. These are the fire tracks from him. Good luck bro
Please play paid in full by these guys!
Rakim changed the rap game as we know it
Rakim is the difference between everyone who rapped before him and everyone who rapped after him. Before Rakim, you never heard anyone put words together like this. That's why we call him The God MC (emcee)
"Microphone Fiend" next, then "Follow the Leader."
I think you might like Gwen Mccrae - Giving all my love
Must be a young guy !! Lol
Seminal album.
Check out ICE-T Power
Listen to Biz Markie. The Vapors
RAKIM
You should react to the song 🎵
🔥🔥The Warning 🔥🔥
Disciple Live Teatro CDMX
Awesome performance
Listen and react to some 6Tribe Called quest. I recommend “Award Tour.”
Please listen and vibe to I Know Ya Got Soul.
God MC
A true lyracist. Eminem credits Rakim as being one of his biggest influences.
Bringing it today J, nice one! ❤ I would really love to see you react to Ren “What You Want” - it’s a Beastie Boys homage and will get you moving and put a smile on your face.
How’s is your first time hearing Eric B and Rakim? This is classic hip hop that’s been around for decades!
😀
In San Andreas
Have you heard "Boney M" ?
New jack hustler. Ice T
Hey Bro please react to the Beatles song Oh Darlin
Can I have Enigma's song called The child in us?
REACT TO BLACKSTREET BEFORE I LET YOU GO
one top 5 OGs ALOT of rappers bit off of his style.
Since it's been a while since you reacted to a hip hop song and you had this on your list also for a while it would benefit you to go back through that list of hip hop songs that you have been ignoring for so long and cater to a Black audience. For you not to even recognize Flavor Flav clearly indicates u have learned nothing from the few hip hop songs that you may hav reacted to. And its pronounced RaKIM like Him bka The GOD MC💯
Kind of curious as to why it's the first time he's heard this or other songs ! Lol..Must of been born yesterday..
