Wonderful product.
Could you convince the maker to stamp the riviting profile? It is great the extended the flanges to help orient the frame to the roof. But if that were stamped, it could dip down to fully follow the roof corrigation profile and provide an even better mating of parts.
Fantastic improvement/option for containers - Thanks for posting this up!
Fantastic product ! Easy to install.
Good idea but cutting a hole in the roof is not my idea of a remedy for moisture. Id go on the side corner near the top. Besides those units are over double the price they should be.
I concur, I have two 40's and use a side mounted solar fan. Why put a hole in the roof? Not to take into consideration if you ever want to stack units now you have a hole in the roof.
@@easytraveller1269 I cuntcur. Another great point. Also the roofs on these cans warble a lot and are not meant to have a lot of weight on them. The weight bearing is on the corners as you well know, however others do not.
@@easytraveller1269 …. What solar fan do you use ?
@@-What-are-your-thoughts I had the container company I use install a commercial off the shelf solar fan and install/weld a bracket and solar panel on the side of the container. The venting was welded into the container.
Nice product its a great idea
Hi Channing, love your videos and your entrepreneurial spirit. I'm looking at purchasing a couple of 20ft. double door containers (I'm here in the states, N. Illinois to be exact) and partitioning them into two roughly 10x8 spaces. My plan is to rent them out as storage spaces as a fairly cost effective way to get into the business. My concern is leaving them out to the elements . I'm considering a simple open wall clear span structure or possibly a carport type structure to keep them covered. IMHO the roof or top being that it is flat and allows for no runoff to be the most vulnerable part of the container. I'd like to mitigate that as much as possible and keep them dry and clean and in use for a long time. Any suggestions, advice, tips, hints etc. would be most appreciated. Thanks for the great content!
Would love 2 of the mounting kits for a container in outback Australia.
Can you install this on a back wall
Have you ever thought of using clecos to keep the holes aligned while drilling. Clevis are avaliable from any aircraft tool supplier. They work great for keeping everything in alignment.
I'll look into it. I asked our engineers about this a while ago.
Thank you for this info. Just have a question. I’m planning on building a 20 foot container home. How many would you recommend installing?
I just installed the Solar vent fan smack dab in the center of the roof of my 20 foot container. I have two Big 40 intake vents to install. I'm thinking I should do them in diagonally opposite corners
good info videos, What type of Cad softwere you used to design ?
What is the top of the vent made of around the solar panel? I'm putting a container in a forested area with high fire danger. It will be in a cleared area with no vegetation. The state's county code doesn't allow plastic lights under the house eaves, or skylights with plastic since an ember could burn through the plastic. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and mistakes. I have learned so much from watching your videos.
I think he mentioned ABS plastic. Solar Blaster offers all metal vents to shipping containers.
How many needed for winter car storage in Maine? I don’t want to worry about moisture at all.
Another company makes one with the bottom plate matching the roof corrugate.
I’d like one that I can hook up a small battery & mppt so it never stops running
Do you have120v power near your container? We have a low voltage fan in a vent that powers with an extension cord from the outside. It also passes power into your container (2 plugs & 3 USB ports).
I didn't think people would want to mess with batteries and charge controllers but as they become more popular and people become more educated on them, maybe it's less of a worry.
I want to add a large solar array to my container later. Is towards one end of the container the best location for this if I’m going to add solar later?
Could adding a few (to replace Standard ones) to my Residence actually bring the Summer Heat temperatures down?
Free energy/airflow couldn't be a bad thing, would it...
amzn.to/3hC3vi3 They'll be perfect. That's what they are meant for. They give you 4x the ventilation of a standard passive box vent.
What do you think about using minimum expansion sealing foam, like Great Stuff, for sealing around the outside of the metal frame insert adapter thingamajig?
Will those gloves were short lived there bud!! Haha
Which Sikaflex sealant do you prefer? Sikaflex-1A? Sikaflex-715?
The problem with solar powered roof vents, as I learned while living aboard my boat, is they are on during the humid part of the day, increasing humidity inside.
Interesting. We are predominantly dry and find it a perfect match to exhaust the summer heat. Ventilation is climate specific and differs between tropical, desert, temperate, and arctic climates. Each person should analyze their situation and use their judgement.
I live in South Texas and the sun's UV rays kill anything plastic. Any idea how UV resistant the vent hood and Solar panel are?
Oooof that's a good question. Sun is pretty bad up here in Canada too actually. Something about being closer to the sun in our summer cause of the tile of the earth (I think). Our main plastic vent company (Duraflo) has the UV resistant stuff figured out. All my plastic vents on my roof were mint after 40 years (1985) when I redid my roof last summer. A little faded is all. These vents aren't made by them but they seem to be of similar quality. Do you have ABS plumbing stacks down there? Or PVC? Which one works?
We have sold a lot of them to Texas/Arizona with no phone calls suggesting they melt... That's a good sign.
@@TheContainerGuyTV Thank you. Which Sikaflex compound are you using? I see they have many different ones.
Can the fan be mounted on a side wall? I don’t want to put any holes in the top. As you have said, in the past.
The problem with mounting this on the side wall is the solar panel would not be pointing toward the sun. You might call Solar Blaster as they have an adjustable solar vent and they could help you figure out a good solution.
When will these be back in stock?
Can these be be installed on the sides? I just DON'T want to cut into the roof
Are these vents suitable for refer container roofs?
LOLS❤👍🏻
Are there "Side Mounted" versions or "Gable Versions" available?
We have a solar 54 CFM axial fan version coming out shortly. Or a powered 110 CFM. It will likely be a few months until they are available online. Email parts@thecontainerguy.ca if interested in buying a prototype.
What are you doing for Makeup air? What vents do you use for that? Thx!
Two BigAir45s for intakes during the day and passive ventilation at night.
@@TheContainerGuyTVeven with closed seal spray foam we still can use the 45" vents?
Do these have an off switch and some way to plug it off in the winter?
Snow
@@TheContainerGuyTV Cold weather in general...... When the temps drop to the 40-50 I would not want to have the warm air sucked out... But when the temps get into the 70-80 I would.. That is why I was asking.
How loud is it?
I think I need 10 of them for penticton😊
Haha maybe. I don't think you can hear them when they're running if my memory serves me correctly.
Could the solar fan be installed on an upper side instead of the roof to avoid leak potential?
I clicked on the Amazon link for the USA, and the fan is not available.
Hoodies and grinders are a sketchy combo! Awesome product though.
Which Sikaflex product?
Not self-leveling. Learned that the hard way. Doesn't need to be Sikaflex. Use a UV resistant urethane construction sealant.
how much is it?
Can you delivery to Mongolia?
Over $580 in the US🙄
$349.95 USD containermodificationworld.com/collections/vents/products/new-big-air-400-cfm-solar-powered-roof-vent-w-bug-screen
@@TheContainerGuyTV That's just the vent. The previous post stating $580 is the whole kit with the Two Big45 intake vents
@@popeyeandy959 yeah that's for three products
My container has 2 whirlybirds on it. What a regret!!
How do they work? Leak? Let water in ever? Where are you located? I'm curious to know feedback on them around North America
@@TheContainerGuyTV I'm in the southeast US. My issues are more with the company. The driver sat the container in the yard instead of on the blocks I had set up. I couldn't be there that day to oversee the delivery, since I was at work. The company refused to come back out and I didn't have the money to pay another company to move it. So it sat uneven which allowed water leakage, which ruined the floor beneath. That whirlybird stopped working not long after that. The other one still works. Years later I met someone who asked if I liked having the whirlybirds and he stated he regretted having them installed because they stopped working on his container. I don't remember if he said they leaked. But he was unhappy also. Btw, I saw a video years ago where you can turn the whirlybirds upside down and use them as a light fixture inside the container. I loved it.
@@SandiRose2008That's unfortunate. Gotta get air movement under the container. We have this product here which would help you level the container if you already own a bottle jack: thecontainerguy.ca/product/twist-n-jack-container-lifter/
@@TheContainerGuyTV Will definitely look into it!! Thank you!!
@@SandiRose2008 A Hi-Lift Jack can be used to help you level the container as long as it's empty. Get the name brand one, there is some knock-offs and I can tell you from personal experience that despite their claims to the contrary, they can't lift as much as the name brand one. Using a Hi-Lift jack can be dangerous but its a lot more versatile than a bottle jack.
Do you answer your email??
WOW $580.00 for that? Geez
It looks like that should have been turned 90 degrees.
It's ok but it's not $600 nice.
That includes two BigAir45s
