- W. Kerr Scott Reservoir is our go-to lake for water fun so it was only natural that since we needed a shakedown trip for our recent van mods, we’d choose to kick off our 2020 Dam Van Road Trip there. This series/playlist is part of our daily van travel vlog.

Instead of the usual motorhome or 5th wheel retired life, we chose a van trekking lifestyle for our retirement years. It’s more adventurous and definitely a more nimble way of living life. During this pandemic we are trying to stay within 4 hours of our NC home, so a van trip across America is out of the question for us. So what can we do? Planning a rv road trip is never easy, but it helps to have a theme. Our theme this trip is to try to visit as many dams, reservoirs and lakes as we can in a 2-3 week period. Maggie is funny as she is still paddling wearing a PFD. I guess it’s just instinct for dogs to keep paddling even though she can float 😂 great video 👍🏼
Great video! Loved Maggie riding the kayak with Lynn!!!! My husband and I visited the Hoover Dam a few years ago. The tour guide said, "Do you have any more dam questions?" lol Made me think of Chevy Chase.

What a great idea for a trip! Just might have to borrow that idea. Maggie is so cute, love watching her, especially on the water. Looking forward to hearing how you like the new batteries. We just added 3 100 watt panels to our little RV, it came with one. Now we want to get better batteries and maybe a larger inverter. Keep on having fun guys!
If you decide to visit a dam fairly close to home, check out Philpott Dam in Henry County, VA. Mainly to stay at Goosepoint Campground! Come during the week to get a spot on the lake in the lower loop. Very nice campground, beautiful, uncrowned Philpott Lake.
Hey guys just had an idea. If your van has a port to add extra solar you could mount panels on the trailer. This would extend bat. Life or you could park van in shade to keep it cooler and trailer in sun for more power,best of both worlds. Thanks for the great videos,I really enjoy them.

Hello Mr. Owen, Lynn and Maggie. This is Maggie's long lost mother. Thank you for giving Maggie a good home. I noticed in this video that you put Maggie into a floating vest so she will be safe in the water. I would also like for you to think about wearing a life vest while out on the water. I know you had some in the kayak but Maggie needs her family to be safe and set a good example while kayaking. Thank you again for the videos. and taking care of Maggie.

Love me some Owen, Lynn, and Maggie !! You should take "that damn road to Tennessee", The Tail of The Dragon. Where you'll see the damn that Harrison Ford took when filming The Fugitive. It's not a road for any scenic driving by any means. With 318 curves in 11 miles, it's not a road you want to take your eyes off of. Being from North Carolina, you've probably already been on this road, but it's just a suggestion. Have fun with your "damn" trekking and stay safe.
So cool! This was a great idea for a trip! We did a trip to all the lighthouses in NC one time...such fun to have a plan like this. We have camped at Douglas Lake (it’s gorgeous!). We stayed at Anchor Down RV Resort, so I’m looking forward to seeing where y’all stay. Kerr Scott is a beautiful place, I’ve heard of it, but never been. You guys are so great. What a good start off for this dam trip. I liked it. Can't wait to see Fontana Dam. Swing up to Fontana Village. We had family reunions there for years. Love Cades Cove. More big bucks and bears and turkey in there than you can count. I can not wait to go along with you. Thanks!

I normally love your video's but I'm interested in the glimpses of van life not travel. There are hundreds of travel videos on CZcams - glimpses of travel and scenery only AS A PART of RV life are great...travel and scenery only is not why I watch RV channels.
