This is going to be a great video, we need to get past the stigma of men's mental health problems and get talking about it so I'll kick it off with this....
I was diagnosed with stress and depression when I was in my 30's (I'm 62 now) I was doing ok until my wife passed away in 2015 which lead me into a downward spiral which left me in a very dark place but with the help of my doctor and my step daughter (My late wife's daughter) I got through it, problem is it's my meds that keep me on a level playing field so my emotions are always flat nothing makes me happy or sad.
Tony is a good friend to me as we often chat and share our problems which helps me and I hope I help him in some small way. I admire what he's doing with this video and if it helps one person it will be worth it.
So if you watch this video or want to share your mental health issues then please post them here🙏🙏

I'm so happy that this is being discussed and should be brought more to the forefront, the stigma of not sharing and being stoic in-front of peers is terrible, thank you for sharing, and more guys should talk or seek an outlet .Please know that your content is helping other people, not just today's message, we look up to you on your skill and willingness to share your knowledge with us amateurs.
On the serious side i have struggled like yourself and like most people who have had mental stress ,life feels like being at the bottom a well with no ladder, no escape, i know now, to cry isn't weak, its the body and mind trying to fix yourself, and knowing that makes you stronger and shows courage, thank you for sharing your story, the more guys that suffer in silence and know its not something to keep inside the better, feel better, and i would say, be free to make more videos like this, because like all of your content you are helping others.

Massive respect to you Tony, well done mate , if this video helps / saves one persons life , how proud you should be mate. Im in my late fifties and i have lost four good mates due to mental health/depression, first one was 15 years of age, i genuinely believe if they had opened up and spoke about it they would probably still be here today . Anyone can get get depressed or have a break down , its about time we as men opened up and spoke about it, unfortunatelly most are not as brave as Tony .

Mental illness is an illness just like Kidney Disease or Diabetes, what ever the particular label is applied to the condition, whether depression PTSD, ADHD or what ever it is. There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
Something that happened just over 50 years ago, and fortunately shook me to the core was a brief moment for reasons I cannot fathom, I wasn't depressed or unhappy, but simply driving a VW van. I just picked up speed on a straight road, and for a moment or two.... again I have no clue why, I intended to keep on going and smash into the buildings at the end of the long road. It was only thankfully that I started to think of other innocent unconnected people that would be hurt or affected that I backed off the gas. Totally weird, I cannot explain it, and I have never come close to a repeat even when as happens to most of us during life things got tough.
Well done for sharing. The more people realise having issues is not just them, the less people may make that final irreversible mistake.

Battling mental problems is absolute hell as there's no getting away from your own head (compared to, say phobias, where you can just run away from the cause). The upside is when you manage to get your life back in control, things that would've worried you in the past pale into insignificance compared to what you went through, and you end up being a much happier person at the end of it. Thanks for your candour and stay strong dude!

    Great work mate.
Believe me when I say I know how you feel.
And that’s not I had depression once and I know how you feel.
I have had mental health issues mainly depression since 1998 , at 1 point all I done was cry and was so close to a ding it all many times.
But now I can’t seem to cry as though my brain is numb.
Maybe it’s the meds I’m on.
My anxiety is terrible especially when it comes to going out.
I went for counselling and they told me I’m too set in my ways and can’t be helped.
I also relax through painting until I get a dirt nib and I hate it and never want to paint again😂( I paint in a gazebo 😂)
Still to this day I’m on my meds and getting through life it’s horrible I know mate.
Stay strong mate and keep up the good work.

Very brave Tony, I have so much respect for you making this Video. You articulate yourself so well and have no doubt this will help many others. I served 24 years in the British Army, I don’t suffer with PTSD but have many friends who unfortunately do and if there’s ever anything I can do I’d be more than happy to help. I’ve never met you but hope to at some point in the future….after all I’d have never got my FTO sprayed without your help and tutorials.
Keep your chin up and stay strong kidda 💪

Fighting dragons everyday is tough and I hope you continue to be generous to yourself in prioritising your own wellbeing. All the comments here reinforce that you are a guy who others look up to and can be proud of himself and his actions. The world needs people like you. It’s a better place for your existence. Thank you for the honesty in this video . As men , we all are very proud and quiet about this sort of thing . Much respect to you for your time in talking about this , for me painting is a sort of therapy and helps me deal with general stress in life , but I have had times where life was seemingly too much , had addiction issues with myself and close family and friends , been thru some very tough things myself in my 43 years. My paint work and the energy I put in it , although sometimes very taxing on my mental and physical side of life , overall it helps me to stay busy . I am very aggressive and sometimes that makes it worse when I plan and want to do more than is possible , I really have a hard time with that one . So at a shop like yours , with a bay full of parts and cars stacked behind , day after day month after month I know exactly the mental toll that is too , let alone outside life factors. Props to you , hopeful that making this video helps and reading the comments you got some good support here and respect man!

Well done mate. Its great that you're being open and touching on this subject! Mental health, especially in men is still such a taboo subject. My own mental health fluctuates from time to time. I'm an Army veteran and since leaving the army I do find it hard, even after years! I greatly miss that brotherhood/camaraderie of it. I find that the civilian mindset can quite often be quite nasty and the behaviours I see are not things that I like. Its extremely hard to explain, but thankfully I have plenty of 'brothers' that I keep in touch with some that have left like myself and some still serving, but we're always there for one another. We keep an eye on each other and that's priceless to me. My partner and my dog also help greatly in keeping me sane! I totally get what you mean about spraying allowing you to escape for a short while. Head up my friend, I hope you get through to the other side of this episode quickly and safely. I know you said you like to keep yourself to yourself, quite like me, but if you do ever need a chat bud, I'm willing to lend my ears and a shoulder. You're not on your own!

Took myself off medication end of last year. Me and my partner are having our first baby atm n due to stress levels rising i feel Anxiety coming back. Its all to do with stress levels, some of us like me we can be born, into a body that doesnt let the toxins from stress go, they build up. But one piece of advice, i watch Andrew tates 5hr podcast with Pat. That man has a different way of looking at mental health. Hope everyone can get the help they need.🙏👊
