Worst match up in the game. Door wins 9 times out of 10, and that 1 out of 10 times Kilgore wins is because he got pissed and shot the door up.

with Killer Instincts reboot a lot of the story got changed
i thoroughly enjoy this series despite not knowing wtf is going on...
Yup
Logan it's rather simple
there's 6 buttons, light/medium/heavy punch/kick
do footsies, chip at each other
eventually get a combo started (you can tell because there's a meter filing up on whoever side is doing the combo)
If the victim recognizes the strength of the attack, they can press the punch/kick buttons of the same strength to counter the combo
If they press the wrong strength, they get locked out (a red X with with L,M, or H in it, which depicts the actual strength of the attack)
If they guessed at the wrong time (in between attacks), they get locked out (grey x with a L in the middle)
shadow moves hit 5 times, if the defender can correctly time 3/5 breakers (strength doesn't matter), they also break the combo
If the combo doer recognizes that he's about to be broken, he can break his own combo first to counter the other dude's counter (which either ends up with the combo being dropped or a counter breaker, depending on whether or not the opponent tried to break)
the purpose of breaking the combo is that a combo doesn't really do much damage unless they do a proper ending move (called enders), so breaking a combo prevents an ender
pretty much all you need to know as a spectator

I just realized something.
A long time ago during Max's Week of Fulgore, he was talking about a glitchy, defective Fulgore unit named Fuglore.
What if Kilgore was made as a reference to Fuglore?
I still main Fugbot but this Kilgore guy has got potential. I love how the DP is so limp because its combustion engine can barely heave that +200lb chassis of the ground yet it can somersault like a freaking boss.
From what I can understand, kilgore players need to abuse his overheated guns. You first want to overheat your guns on the opponent, then use them to burn the opponent. Everytime Max got a few hits on them with his overheated guns, the health bar suddenly brought down a good deal of white damage.
he has a difficult time cashing in on that white damage when his miniguns only shoot twice when overheated, the only way for him to use more shots is when instinct is ready/shadow version ofthe gatling charge because it really locks him away from doing anything since the linker version of gatling charge does not shoot bullets

I think the reason why you're doing bad with Kilgore is you think of him as a character with two very different modes and from what I've seen Kilgore is not so much different modes as in he has certain states. THe best example I can think of to explain this is Robo-Ky he played very differently compared to most characters in Guilty Gear in that he too had an overheat function that increased his damage, though Kilgore, as far as I've seen anyways, overheat doesn't kill him unlike Robo-ky which will damage you eventually if you overheat too much. Anyway don't think of Kilgore as a keep away character but think of him as a footsies character who keeps opponents IN kilgores range not out of it. And like another person said Kilgore is a mid-range character not long or close range.

So from what I can see, most of the time Kilgore is those hard characters that's even has a hard time against itself. I can see most people are gonna put Kilgore in the low tier.
That second match up with Aganos was one of the sickest moves ive seen in this game. Good stuff Max!

I think you forget fulgore is a heavy keep away and rush down character were only his meter gain is meant to be a down side. Kilgore is just outdated but I like chain guns so he's awesome

Nah man, a rogue malfunctioning unit that even ultratech can't shut down despite being out of date & outclassed? Cool as heck, Dan doesn't have that. Gameplay-wise he's just low damage tbh

He's essentially the joke character - which is sad because I think the concept could have been cool if they didn't intentionally make him ass. Kilgore is trying to juggle cool and silly, and it just doesn't really work

I really hoped they would put Chief Thunder's brother, Eagle, in the game, too. Obviously, in the story, he is turned into Fulgore, but it isn't uncommon for fighting games to offer a character as a choice despite the story claiming they're dead/turned into a cyborg. Kilgore seems really fun, but it also seems like he doesn't have much damage output. Hopefully they fix that.

That's ludicrous. They went overboard on how little damage he does. It's not an issue of him beeing a low damage character, it's the fact he has a damage SO LOW it's a fucking struggle to play with. Remember release Omen? This is even worse

Epic-Fran! the combo was full of things that do no damage, once you start incorporating things that due like his burn mechanic and missile enders then come talk to me about no damage. people are already finding 50%+ combos and unbreakables with him as of last night.

Kilgore vs Kilgore just seems to be who can land the most rockets on the other to then be able to do some sorta rushdown XD
basic backstory: kilgore was the prototype of fulgore used by ultra tech. some glitch in his system made him rogue and ultra tech couldn’t shit him down so here he is.

Kilgore has the more "simple but effective" approach. He's not meant to be a character of spectacle.

Gurakaaa a any combo ends with an ender, in order to cash out on the potential damage (the white bit of a healthbar during a combo)
when a combo has done considerable damage, it's ender would do that mist thing

This is really unfortunate. I was looking forward to Kilgore, but he looks like he suffers from the same issue of low damage forcing predictable combo paths that Riptor does.
