Davis Cup 1956

Edited action footage of all the matches in the 1956 David Cup Final between Australia and USA. Australia won all matches to make it its 13th Davis Cup victory and was represented by Lew Hoad and Ken Rosewall and USA by Victor Seixas, Herbert Flam and Sam Giammalva. Contains footage of historical interest including Robert Menzies in various spectator shots, Harry Hopman receiving Davis cup from Richard Nixon, then Vice President, for 1955 victory.

Regardless of it being 1956, the players were striking the ball with great power, skill and accuracy.

This was Hoads best year as a player as he won the first 3 slams only to be thwarted by Kenny at Forest Hills to stop his grand slam quest. Rosewall also prevented Trabert from winning a grand slam as well.

Lew Hoad was a right handed, about three inches taller, version of Rod Laver, who developed a bad back that shortened his career. A shame people don't know much about him.

This was great to see. Can we see more such as highlights of 53, 54, and 55 davis cups? I know there is 12 minutes of hoad - trabert match but I'd like to see more.
