    My biggest problem in the Music business as a musician is that everybody has lost the art of being themselves everybody wants to be like everybody else. It’s like there’s no more individual personalities anymore and it’s really bothersome.

      Totally agreed. This is a problem. There is no genuine identity.

      Music has become competition rather than an artistic expression. I think it all starts in grade school with auditions. Nowadays with guitar it's all about speed. To get to the level of proficiency of the fastest shredder takes practicing most of your waking hours, just to shred arpeggios and scales like a machine. It's really sad.

      I agree, and that's why I, as an autistic black lead guitarist in a rock band, dare to be as me as possible. In the way I act, in the way I play, in how I live my life.

      Who is John Galt? Check out "Atlas Shrugged". Although "Tom Sawyer" was written by Neil Peart (RIP), he effectively later apologized for thinking outside the box. The fact is that he was inspired (by the author), wrote a classic song while becoming an iconic drummer, then relented to the 'woke folk' - his respect was not only earned, it was due... in retrospect, he submitted a most unnecessary digression and ended up representing what he started out by trying to warn us all about. czcams.com/video/DuBPbVANIE8/video.html 😎

      “Woke folk” is a boogeyman. Doesn’t exist. Stop letting fear mess with your career, because calling people “woke” automatically means you’re gonna be a flight risk if I hire you.

    10 minutes into the video, i'd actually love to see a pscychiatrist talking about stage fright and its nature in case of seasoned musicians. i personally never understood the root cause, but that's of course, because i only had it rarely and in very light forms. what you say seems to be a logical approach, that the lack of preparedness might induce it, however in my experience unprepared musicians rather tend to turn down their volume knobs a little bit and try to stay more in the background, but it looks more like a hiding game mixed with some shame than stage fright. on the other hand the drummer with whom i played the longest with and we basically had the very same musical route has stage fright up until this very day, even after playing in front of crowds as big as 10.000 people and even though in almost every band, in which we played, he was by far the highest qualified musician. although i've also seen the type that you described, like the one without the required hours put in, but i'd be just curious why it happens how it happens and how those who have it can overcome it, if at all possible. interesting topic

    Hi Terence! I know in this video and others you have out you speak to the importance of social media presence. I’m going to keep looking on your channel, but how does someone playing only covers get material on CZcams without receiving strikes, claims, and potential removal due to copyright policies? Is contacting and receiving permission from the artist/creator the only way? If so, how would one even go about pursuing that? Thanks, and love your channel. 👍

    • @billweir1745
      @billweir1745 Před rokem +1

      So a copyright strike isn't necessarily a negative thing. It just means you won't receive money yourself for those streams. It's pretty rare that a cover will get taken completely down. If your goal is just to get exposure then that could be fine in your situation. I have covers on my band's channel that have strikes on them, but I'm okay with that because it allows us to be seen.

    • @Andy1x
      @Andy1x Před rokem

      @@billweir1745 Got it, and that’s clear . Actually for me it is more about a hosting mechanism for my covers, and actually I’ve found another alternative and it seems it will be fine. I really appreciate you sharing your own experience. You’ve helped me more whether here or user groups elsewhere. So is the 3 strikes and you’re canned from CZcams just a surface policy where they don’t really do anything unless you’re generating money? Thanks again!

    • @billweir1745
      @billweir1745 Před rokem +1

      @@Andy1x So I think a strike is where the owner does not want it to be used on CZcams. I've never ran into that. What I have gotten mostly is a content ID claim. I don't think you will get a strike unless you are just posting their songs or music videos as your own in order to monetize it. If you are simply posting covers it really shouldn't be an issue unless the artist or publisher are very aggressive. If you see other people doing covers of the same material as you, or by the same artists, I really wouldn't worry that much about it. Sorry for the confusion.

    • @Andy1x
      @Andy1x Před rokem

      @@billweir1745 So it’s weird, hopefully not repeating myself but I did upload a couple covers as a test and immediately a strike + was displayed. That would make sense as I understand CZcams relies on a sophisticated process that is automated…software based. I took them down immediately. That said, for now at least I don’t need to rely on CZcams if I decide to post covers. I’m getting the impression though that many other post covers with no repercussions. Thanks again for all your info. 👍
