- Oh Godzilla how we love you so! And now Autobytel finally gets to test drive this beast. The 2014 Nissan GT-R is easily one of the fastest production cars on the planet only eclipsed by the super high end exotics that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. For the money though, the GT-R is a bargain considering you get 545 horsepower for only $99,590. Sure there are cars more powerful costing less, but can they run 0-60 MPH in less than 3.0 seconds?

Most people do not consider the 2014 Nissan GT-R a very pretty car. In fact many may argue that the GT-R is one of the least sexy sports cars on the road. That's fine because the GT-R's designers are more concerned with function over form. Everything you see on this car, every crease, every duct, every line; is designed to make the Nissan GT-R faster. Up front the design is maximized to make the air flow faster. There are ducts in the hood to provide fresh air, the headlights are flush and extend a ways back, and the ridges in the bumper all move air in a specific way. On the side there is a unique cut that coupled with the mirrors and roof tunnel air to the back of the car through the spoiler. The 2014 Nissan GT-R is all about science hitting the road.
There are a few cars in this planet that exists solely to scramble the gray matter inside you head. The 2014 Nissan GT-R is one of those cars and it might just be the most approachable high performance sports car of the entire group costing under $100k. This car does things that cars costing far more can do, and it does it with a small 3.8 liter twin turbo V-6. Most of the time when you pop the hood on a modern sports car, the motor is hidden behind a bunch of plastic dress-up pieces, but on the GT-R the VR38DETT is right there in all its glory. This beautiful work of art was hand built in Japan. The engine produces 545 horsepower and 463 lb-ft. of torque. Power is sent through a dual-clutch 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The ATTESA E-TS is and AWD system works with Nissan's Vehicle Dynamics Control to help with handling and torque split.
On the inside the 2014 Nissan GT-R Premium is incredibly comfortable. The seats are heated and come with contrasting suede inserts. The BOSE Audio system consists of 11 speakers with 2 of them being mounted between the rear passenger seats. The trim features a nice helping of carbon fiber and brushed aluminum pieces which give the interior of the GT-R a modern sporty feel. Once you are in the car and have a comfortable driving position its time to play with all the gadgets. The information screen on the center stack is fully customizable allowing the driver to monitor a whole bevy of performance figures.
Once you are finally driving the 2014 Nissan GT-R, you realize this sports car is something special. The power and pull is amazing and Nissan claims 0-60 MPH happens in 2.6 seconds with the ¼ flying by in 10.6 seconds which is Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Aventador territory. The GT-R is not only wildly fast, but it handles amazingly wells, and stops super aggressively thanks to the carbon ceramic brakes. If you want the most bang for your buck period, the Nissan GT-R is the obvious choice.

Yes ..its been 10yrs i remember watching this before i was in college back in 2014 .. now after 10yrs i have this one 2014 model i know it's an old model of r35 but my dreams come true
Hows the reliability? A 2014 GTR is my dream car, but im worried about the reliability as depreciated high-end sports cars tend to have issues with it
I simply don't understand why people say the GT-R is an ugly car. There's proper balance, wheels aren't too big, and it's powerfully angular.
A lot of those European supercars look like a praying mantis.

Two groups of people say it is ugly: 1) Those who don't understand or care what it does and what it is about. 2) Those who are enemy of success and don't want to agree that a 100K car can beat most of the cars on the road. The same people will probably never own one of these, but they still hate it. They are called the enemies of success.

well i'd say there are a lot of people out there that has bought other brand's super car and if others doesn't acknowledge their choice (say his friend thinks GT-R is better looking) then they will probably say something like GT-R is ugly in their defense... to me all of them are awesome because it is probably the most invested car in every company..

What a phenomenal machine. I got a ride in one of these this week and it is out of this world. I have been in Ferraris, 911 Turbos, full-on race cars, etc. and this car is on a whole other level. The acceleration and grip is nothing like I've ever experienced before. Truly amazing. The search for a nice used one starts today!

To me this car replaced the Skyline GT which was a technological marvel of its time. You can see a bit of the DNA in the design too especially the rear. I just love the clean lines and all black windows and A columns that make it look like the cockpit of a boat or fighter jet.
I wasn't aware that the premium came with the two tone interior. That looks great.
GTR is beautiful and looking aggressive as well.
People are always follow GTR when they see it on the road.

Amazing how Nissan can make this car go so fast with it's considerable weight, the engine is probably making more power than it is officially rated at by the factory!
i have had many fast cars and they have been a treat to drive,but ive had my gtr black edition for around six months and it is by far the best car i have owned,if you want one and can get the cash together to buy one then do it and you will have the most fun you can have out of a car under 100k

I've seen more GTRs than 370Zs around me. Mostly because the GTR has AWD, which is needed for the snowy winters here. But then, a GTR is too low for snow.

A lot of people do think that this car is ugly, though I think it is pretty darn good looking. The only thing that I don't really like on this car is the bar across the front bumper.

Yes as a matter of fact, they call it reckless driving, just because a car can do 60 in 4 secs doesn't mean that you have the right to do in a public road, since most of the time, it's accompanied by screeching tires.

Only thing I don't like about the GT-R is that I don't see any with a traditional manual transmission. It kinda upsets me because I like stick more than the paddle shifters IMO. :/

Cheaper to make, better fuel eco, and it gives the driver a better relationship with the car
Christian Rosales the really bad thing about the dual clutch transmission is it costs about $20k to replace it( if you do a lot of engine mods and turbos the rear differential case on the tranny can crack ,they make a brace to stop that) and $10k to 18k to upgrade the transmission, clutch packs etc. to a higher torque capacity. A manual gearbox would be a lot cheaper but not quite as quick.
What's the point of a manual when you have a dual clutch that can shift faster than any human being ever can. The car is a track weapon and like every single exotic and any f1 or legitimate race car in the world- has a dual clutch setup now. I can't think of one exotic that is a manual.
Manual is fun, but take it from me- auto will always be faster in any situation.

Okay for all the noobs here, let me tell you a little something about aka Godzilla. The nissan gtr has had a such a great line of history, that most of its older models, including the r34 are potentially banned in the united states because of how powerful the engine in it delivers. Yes many of them are for sale in japan for $50,000. Theres really no room to negatively judge this car. If you do, you are ignorant.
That's not why they are banned, moron. They are banned due to bullshit gov't safety, emission, and import rules. There were plenty of cars in the US market that pushed more horsepower than the r34.
Sigh, kids.
when u think of it the GTR earns the respect from 1998 the r34 it got the name from quick all the way to fast to monstrous! but the check out the 2014 GTR track edition vs 2014 R8 V10 on Head2Head

I know where your coming from, hey I have a 3000gt VR4, also a 90's Japanese sports car, but I watched a R34 skyline with 800hp to the wheels get destroyed by a stock GTR, I am not saying its right, but in the relentless pursue of speed the GTR is the better choice. My VR4 is a manbeast, with over 500bhp with all wheel drive, a 0-60 time in around 4 seconds and a top speed of 190 with active aero but I would not stand a chance because the generation gap in tech is too great to overcome.

The reason this car is not manual is because its a practical car for people to drive every day. Off course the people that can afford it. Just because its a super car doesn't mean it should be manual. Thats so ignorant to think that. More than half of our supercars have paddle shifters lol
isnt that including the ceritifcate for ownership and the thing that doubles its retail price? i watched a thing on mighty car mods which explained why prices in singapore and so ridiculously expensive.

Wow! Even in the REal Racing 3 game, the specs of this car is realisticaly applied, like the acceleration of 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds..i can even beat The Porsche Carrera GT and the Ford GT and Dodge Viper in the game with this car..

good review. I test drove it in 2009 and 2015 - didn't like the way it drove, felt soulless and boring. I Drove a 2016 GTR earlier this week in Race mode and manual shifting - blew my mind so much I'm actually buying a new one this month. Awesome car.
You can get 4 FR-S for one of these, if they only had a turbo version, you can't even drive this car the way it is meant to be in everyday driving, what is the point? how many people take their cars out to a track anyway?

You're almost right but the Bugatti is not for racing, it's a technical achievement.It's all about top speeds when it comes to cars like the Bugatti. If you put a Bugatti Super Sport against a GT-R in a mile long road chances are the GT-R will be covered with dust because of Bugattis sheer power.
