TESLA autopilot is F A C T U A L L Y safer and more reliable than ANY current Autopilot system. and a mom & pop system will NOT save your life in a accident.

@@markplott4820 Yeah at hitting stationary vehicles especially police and fire vehicles lol. The Comma system has been proven to always see stopped vehicles, something no standard autonomous system including Tesla cannot do.
I have personally used Eon (the last-gen Comma device) for about month and logged over 1,000 mile with OpenPilot enabled. It is honestly pretty great and makes me way less fatigued from my long daily commute through LA traffic. You still definitely have to pay attention to the road (hence the drive monitoring) but for anyone that routinely makes long drives, I would give this solution a shot. Definitely check this system out if you have the newer Toyota Corolla or Rav4.

You don't plug it into USB car port for power. You do have to plug into the OBD2 port. He's also steering the whole time, but the comma two monitors you via camera to see if your paying attention and you can go hands free. I'm excited to get this but I'm not sure this really provided a good demonstration of openpilot.

Start stop is great when you have starter coils that can take that, I'd love to know how they manage that, I'm assuming they thought of it. That device is crazy cool though.
I am having a similar problem. My device first showed a CAnbus error. Now it says that no vehicle is detected. I have tried all the steps you mentioned. Still no luck.
i bought the coma 2 years ago and bought a 2018 Toyota rav4 especially for it. I couldn't get it to work and they did refund the money. I went 2 weeks and i talked to people one guy even went over it with me on skyp. We concluded it didnt work with my trim which is XLE. Do you think this will work??? also the cruse disengages when the car slowes to about 35mph. Do you say the comma 2 has stop and go or is that only for your honda
That is lame. I hope someone can help you and can figure it out. I know george setup a corolla that wasnt supported and got it to work with it on a live stream. Maybe it could be that easy with the rav4.
2 years ago there were issues fingerprinting the different subtrims of each model, so that likely the issue you were facing. That issue has been fixed since then, in particular for RAV4. I can say with 100% confidence that openpilot will work on your vehicle now. Even the older hardware will work. As for cruise control, if you have a hybrid RAV4, stop and go will work out of the box. If not, it will allow braking to 0mph, and reacceleration when at or above 20mph (where you can also engage cruise control when using OP). If you want stop and go on a nonhybrid, you need a Comma Pedal. You can find them sold by people on the Discord. Check out my most recent Pedal CZcams video for more info!

I'm part time and using Openpilot. Most of the time I only use it on freeways with passengers. No one notices anything except for the windshield mounted device which I can pass off as a dashcam easily. I'll feel out each passenger and depending on how cool they are I'll fill some of them in on whats going on. Those that are told LOVE it. I just try to be careful as I'm not sure what uber/lyfts policy is
@@TheGSoutherland Great to hear! Do you rest your hand on the steering wheel, so passengers don't see the car is steering itself? I know Uber and Lyft allow Teslas on their platforms, and I never heard them not allowing drivers to use Autopilot.
entire review hands on the wheel.. its not needed to hold the wheel, it will drive its self.. Just need to monitor and correct if in odd situations.. its that good.. its monitors the driver to make sure the driver is monitoring the comma.ai's driving.. its that good..

maybe its a trust issue.. after using it a while you know exactly what it can do and cant.. its very predictable. freeway its 99% hands off , regular roads its 90% for me.

I've seen a few people with manual cars using it, you just have to get in the correct gear before starting it up, just like your would with adaptive cruise control, you just won't have stop/start ACC as obviously, OP can't control your clutch or transmission.

there is a guy in germany who have installed comma.ai's openpilot in an old volkswagen van with manual transmission. look up Olaf vanagon its seriously impressive work.
There's no way that little thing has enough processing power to handle all of that real time data, and since 5g is not completely here it can't be handled via cloud computing. If you rely too much on this device, once it crashes so will your car
Well, this doesn't need to process anywhere near as much data as a newer tesla. This little thing actually has slightly better internals than the earliest hardware 1 tesla's. That being said The latest hardware teslas are far far more powerful as they have far more data to handle
It will be in the future, but right now the limiting factor is software, not hardware. It's currently using less than half the fov of the camera, and only 25% of the gpu is being used

So this $1200 system will stir your car for you , and you can adjust the speed using the cruise control even when you stop and start no resetting, it also records your front view, and uses integrated G.P.S. , I guess in your recordings, as well as use you sonar to see how far away you are from the car ahead of you if your car has sonar built in. It can't see cars on the side of you so it's best to keep a eye while you or it changes lanes.... All in all I would simply drive my car myself , save the $1200 and keep on staying healthy with my mind focused on driving for now. P.S. I only drive short distances so yes long distance would be a good idea.
Whatever you DO NOT waste your money on the comma!!! I'm sure it's just as cheap and nasty as the Comma 2 which started failing just after a year. 2kAUD down the drain 3kAUD down the drain if you buy this one. Plenty of other people with the same issue on reddit and discord. Crappy 1 year limited warranty with barely any support. Even their support page says we won't help you if they think it's something you should be able to fix yourself. Their online help they refer you to is a discord which has a similiar mindset...smh
This guy is ridiculous, acting like it's 2015 where only luxury cars have adaptive cruise with stop and go, my FORD came with it stock, AND with lane centering, which is basically autopilot. Keep your mouth shut if you don't know what you're talking about.
Most likely, yes? As long as the Equinox has the "Confidence & Convenience II Package", which includes "Adaptive Cruise Control". There are already other GM vehicles officially supported and running OpenPilot, such as Chevy Malibu, Volt, GMC Acadia, etc.

Drove 1000 miles on OpenPilot out of a 1070 mile trip. I have never enjoyed driving so much until then.
I drove 5000 miles using TESLA Autopilot all the way.

For the right cars it is. Basically any newer toyota besides the mazda made ones and many newer hondas. Even the newest Santa Fe is supported.

While true, it doesn't hurt to keep your hands on the wheel, so long as you aren't adding torque and overriding OpenPilot.

I don't think manual works, you need to have adaptive cruise control and a lane assistant.
If you have all that, it works everywhere though

No, probably not. Most cars on list are Toyota, Honda and some Kia, some Subaru.
No, the only domestic brands that works are the Chrysler Pacifica minivan and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
