With all of these new mods in place, we hit our Dynojet 224xLC for some dyno results. With over 581 horsepower and 600 torque to the rear tires, that made for a peak gain of 33 horsepower and gains of 47 horsepower and 59 torque throughout the curve! Our friends at Bama Performance loaded up their SCT X3/X4 custom tuner and hit the dyno for the results!
Stay tuned. We're building a 2010-2012 Shelby GT500 and a 2013-2014, as well. Make sure to subscribe and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
Such a amazing piece of machinery. You barely did anything and made all that extra power. Just blows my mind.
No headers is like skipping leg day
Check out Stage 3 of our 2007-2009 #gt500 Bolt-On Build-Up Series!
Damn man those are huge gains for the money spent. That's a very affordable street monster.
Niiicee. I did the same mods to my 07' GT500 and made 586whp 601trq
what boost levels were you hitting?
Corey Lapp right around 14psi. I just added longtube headers and made 610whp
Shelby SloBra you said you did the same three upgrade packs about how much did it cost for all of them
Basic C6 I did the math myself, and it's about $3,075 excluding tax
Not sure who gave the thumbs down. Must be a camaro guy.
Love your videos! I recently picked up a 2008 GT500 (traded in my '96 Mystic Cobra 4.6) and wasn't sure where to begin with upgrades...my GT500 has just under 17,000 miles on it and few modifications. I was told it has a smaller upper pulley, definitely has an SLP Loudmouth exhaust (thinking of switching to Borla Atak, sound is unreal), and 3.73 gears. I need to find someone who can verify that these mods were actually done...not that I don't trust the dealer, but anyone can make up a good story... Thank you for the suggestions and ideas! I love how you discuss the parts you recommend, as well as the rationale behind it. Very informative and a very logical.
Just need to find someone who can verify the parts list I got, and someone who can tune the car properly too. The car is an absolute blast to drive without being highly modified, can't wait to get another 150-200 hp under it...
Hi Dan, I am going to be picking up a 2009 GT500 in a couple of weeks. The one I'm getting is fully stock but I'm definitely going to do most if not all of the mods they are suggesting...good luck with your new purchase! Hope you're staying safe in these weird times!😎
@@florencesmith3415 would love to hear if you ended up doing any mods, just picked up the same car
Would also love to know your experience in terms of your car and mods
Cool I'm ready to do all these mods... now I just need a GT-500 :D
I was looking forward to seeing some track times
I hear you Cesar, but if you look at the exhaust clip at 2:12, you will notice a decent amount of snow on the ground. These GT500 Bolt-on Builds up were all shot in the dead of winter here in the North East and unfortunately all of our local tracks we're closed. Thanks for watching! -Justin
Turning that stang into a true beast.
As a driver, Shalaby, from inside, the sound of it is super charged from the outside, with an annoying sound that made a pilot happy, but his title is GT500 Cobra 🐍 Crawling Crawling 550 horses 🐎 Power of Torque 🔥
Termi build now
yea come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems like the 07-09 engine is a lot more responsive to mods than the 10-12 engine. Just came from the 10-12 GT500 build up and this 08 made almost the exact same power as the '12 using the exact same mods.
I think you guys could touch 600 rwhp with a set of long tubes. Why didn't you guys include those?
this is awesome man
Who the hell clicked thumbs down?
No kidding!
I got a 2011 Mustang GT, and fit to take a ride in my buddies 08 GT500. He makes 507whp and 506wtq. I was a bit disappointed. When he hits it, it pushes you back hard at first, but you can feel the torque drops off quickly. And then every gear change he's in that part of the torque curve where it just falls off quickly. His car is faster than mine no doubt but I like my power band more. If I do supercharged my car I'll probably look at Whipple or a Centri kit.
@BMan100 Gt500, I'm a bit biased though. Years down the road they won't be as common as the gt. Just my 2 cents
Crazy thing is your 2008 gt500 build video had the exact same bolt ons and the finished dyno numbers were only 8 hp difference and the exact same torque, 600😯
Hardest part about installing the JLT CAI was getting the boot on the tube and throttle body. Tight fit. Excellent kit though!
Glad to see it wasn't just mine that fit really tight lol
how about a 4 valve 4.6 build up? maybe a '96-'98 cobra, or a mach 1 or a termi
Hi . I'm waleed shaheen from Bahrain . I have shelby gt500 2009 super charge .engine hours power 527 & at rear wheels 515 hp . I like to cheng exhaust piping size from 2.5 inches to 3 inches with x pipes and magnoflow mufflers .do you think the hours power will slightly increase after dyno .
Waleed Shaheen With a quality exhaust and a tune to go along with it, you will definitely see a nice bump in power! -Will
I'm getting my cold air intake and bama tuner 👍👍
If only I had the money...
I've added a VMP 2.5 pulley, a 90 mm take up pulley, BBK non catted X-pipe, Bassani Axle Back, JLT Carbon Fiber Big Air Cold Air Intake, Ford Racing Super Cobra Jet Oval throttle body, colder plugs and a Bama tune. All purchased at AM except for the pulley. I believe I should receive similar numbers with these upgrades?
2007 GT500
Robert Kennedy Hey Robert - At the end of the day all dynamometer's will give different readings and you'll need to factor in other variables like fuel being used, temperature/humidity, etc but for the mods on your car I think you're definitely going to be in that neighborhood! - Alex
Thank you so much for the reply.
Should have done a set of longtubes and would have made 600+ hp on that setup... Stage 4?
I was thinking the same thing
We did it made 598hp
these videos were alot of help thanks guys
So glad that they're helpful to you John :) Thanks for the kind words and for watching! -Elaina
AM should make a video like this on the 99-04 mustang GT and cobra just to see what people think and possibly build the cars up.
Hi . I have question regarding shelby gt500 .what's save and maximum boost for stuck super charge . 18 psi boost is it save .
Thanks for the video ...... doing exactly what you suggested. Getting all the parts together. One question. I am trying to get to approximately 700 crank hp.... can i get there with the factory blower ?
We are pretty close to that number using the mods in this vid- I feel like some long tubes and maybe one or two tweaks and you'd be there. Thanks for the kind words! -Justin
05-09 Roush build up would be interesting
We see the dyno numbers and everything looks great but how does this car actually perform at the track with all of the stages? In short words let see some track time on some of the dyno vehicle.
No headers?
just lost my 07 Cali special this past year thinking about upgrading to a GT 500 ...
Does Bama have the tuning for cat removal??
Hey guys do you have a clip showing what you did to the 08 gt500 suspension and what size wheels and tires do you have on that 08
Do you guys have an entire stage 3 kit on your website?
you guys need to do a 94-95 cobra with the 5.0 and picky ass computer. it would be a good chance to show off that bama chip with 3 settings. us 94-95 guys feel like redheaded step children ol
That exhaust is junk. Corsa sport exhaust is where it's at
"Ready for any Challenger"...was that a pun? hahaha
😂
Scary to think but with the 2015 coming out soon makes me wonder what a beast it will be since it will be 400lbs lighter what would be better a modded gt500 or the new Gt (I hope they get rid of that damned MT-82 or Im back with the SRT8 392 Challenger I had)
Hey Justin I'm looking at an 09 Shelby was wondering if you could give me a list of the parts you used in the 08 Shelby build
What is the air fuel ratio that bama considers to be a sweet spot?
At what HP does fuel delivery become an issue on these models?
Hello I wanted to copy this set up and wanted to ask few questions, I have a 2.5 pulley instead of the 2.6 do I have to change out my belt and will the 2.5 work with 10% underdrive at all, and what did yah gap the spark plugs at? This would help me a lot if yah can tell me thanks
stage 4: ported blower , kooks longtubes headers and a nice meth kit , enough to make 630+ whp :)
Whats the ideal price for those mods?
@@bikelife_gtv550 kooks headers alone usually run around $1100. Not sure about the other stuff though
Why did AM stop selling the 08^ gt500 balancer and the innovators overdrive one
What is the total cost of all the mods on this stage 3?
What is the safe limit rwhp for stock clutch & drive shaft? Trying to determine best bang for buck Bolt-on build. Stage 1-3 or VMP TVS Gen 2,which I know I'll need clutch ( another $2000 R&R)
From what I've heard, the stock clutch is shit regardless. It makes me pretty reluctant to add performance mods
What kind of wheels are those? What are the sizes?
What rwhp will the Long Tube Headers add to the 581 Rwhp 600 TQ.
I'd say at least 20-30whp
Do you think a one piece driveshaft would help anything?
I just put the driveshaft shop all aluminum shaft in on sat morning.
@@dumbshit1977 how did that aluminum one hold up? I'm skeptical on buying one
I have the same car and about to do the same mods but was told i need injectors and better fuel to run it. But wasnt this car done with 93. I was going to run 91 im in ca and torco to raise it up some. Do i really need injectors and like e85 or 100oct? Thank u
You probably don't "need" it but it would be a huge benefit to your tuning ability to have it
What did you end up doing? I’m also in Cali with the same car.
@@shatangatang i had a 08. Jlt 123m intake. Small upper pulley. And muffler delete. Bought it that way and ran good. Made 540whp and 520tq tuned on bama. Then i just went for it. 10% lower. Xpipe. Single driveshaft. Mcloed rst clutch. 13/14 gt500 injectors. Heat exchanger. Tuned by lund. Never dynoed it again but kept having fuel issues. Says it would drop fuel pressure at wot. But car ran good. Also had upgraded the stock fuel pumps with the dual 340s i think. Ran strong but my data log kept saying losing fuel pressure but the car ran good. One of my last races were against my buddy matt760 its on youtube. He has a 10spd mustang gt. Fbo e85 tune on a drag pack. Good ass race.
@@mcp08gt what happened to the car? My cars all stock, an 09….I have a k&n cold air intake…..I wouldn’t need to do a tune on it if I put the k&n on would I?
@@shatangatang ended up selling it about 2yrs ago. I have a slowass 18 mustang gt. Haha and i think most intakes for the gt500s require a tune. Not 100% sure tho. Its a badass car kind of regret selling it but its all good. Haha
do a TERMINATOR!!!!!!
whipple time.....
The only thing missing is long tubes and cams lol.
I'm on the fence about getting an 07-09 gt500 or getting an 11-14 GT and putting a TVS supercharger on it. Anyone have any input to help me make my decision?
Jason Kornega There's no wrong way to go there! The 07-09 Shelby GT500 is and always will be a beast. The 11-14 GT has some more "modern amenities" which is nice, though. An 11-14 GT with a power adder such as a positive displacement supercharger is going to put down insane power on pump gas and be more than enough power to keep you happy! -Chris
Exactly the same situation with me brother. I figured the 07-09 gt500 mainly because the 5.4 engine is mostly forged from the factory so u won't have to worry about that even at the 600+whp range. Plus it's already supercharged simple bolt ons can get u 500+whp. Just my 2 cents. Hopefully I can pick one up in the spring time!
I live in Canada and gt500's are at the cheapest $30k plus. This can get an 11 Gt for $20k is so that makes it.tough and the 11+ are way nicer interior.
Jason Kornega true. Never thought of that I'm in the United states but 30k sounds about right. Depends on how many miles on the odometer of course.
Can I put these on my gt 350
No
too bad it's a pig. Also, long tubes, and a reduction in rotational mass like an aftermarket driveshaft and lighter wheels and this bad boy would be pushing 600rwhp...
mabe a pig but I love mine, got new sway bars, upper and lower control arms and shes deadly
That's my car and not a pig at all. It now has an aluminum driveshaft and twin disc mccleod.
Hey, and who doesn't like monsters?
I want to see this thing on the streets, let me drive lol. I justed 17 but im sure I can handle. Help a kid lol. :D
Manuel Gomez did you buy one yet?
Exhaust note - Meh.
Not everybody can just throw on an offroad Y or X pipe. I have to pass emissions. D:
Unless you just "know a guy" you cant get around that.
Patrick H Thats why you pass emissions with the regular midpipe then throw on the new one a day after :)
😉
Flowmaster = drone master.
Pure TRASH 🗑
There’s so many better combinations for solid sound.
You kept the stock intercooler pump that is a big hindrance.
Yikes.
Why? What are your thoughts here? Just the heat exchanger. Kind of take care of that?
Read my comment again.
But the 07-12 pump and HE are very restrictive.
13/14 parts are a huge upgrade and provide better cooling.
Flowmaster is called drone master for a reason.
Creates drone in the cabin.
Borla is a top quality muffler.
