He’s absolutely a terrific speaker. What a great explanation of his boat and preparation.

I concur with the previous comments, the best interview to-date.

Hi, just a comment on ventilation. I have seen most of the presentaion of the participating yachts. Almost all have the old standard cowl airvent. Big,easy catcher of ropes, not very watertight.
There is a very good modern air ventilator. The name is ”Aironly” ventilator, waterproof through a very smart design. You can actually throw a bucket of water right ontop of it. Not water inside. It can be closed from the iside. I have four of these on my 35 feet sailing yacht. Never ever had water from the ventilators, ”aironly”.
Takes up lees deckspace, you can jump on it, does not brake. I have tested the Aironly now for five years and not a single problem, Aironly.

Nothing wrong on being on deck reefing. Just do it before you cant. Reefing from the cotpit has its own issues as well. You dont want a dent in the boom.....winch is fine(dont put too many turns on so if it comes under pressure it just slip)s., powered winches you have to be careful with. I agree with the hatch being better than wash boards. I agree with keeping weight off the bow. We would bring our chain and anchor down below and stored in the bilge.

If I ever partake in the GGR I'm just going to copy Guy's boat, I would take some British military ration packs in the food stores, tasty, lasts for years and can be eaten hot or cold!

Impressive preparation. Surprising he is so far behind after five weeks of racing. He’ll probably win the battle of attrition in the southern ocean.

I'm not so sure, Kirsten has the most Southern ocean experience by far (Leopard deliveries from Cape town to Australia and New Zealand even before skippering Pelagic and Pelagic Australis for Skip) and knows the Horn and surrounding waters like the back of her hand, the doldrums and Southern ocean are where this "race" are won. Personally I don't like his boat setup. That companionway setup doesn't work IMO, 20 times a day in filthy weather?????

Not sure about that companionway setup, time will tell??

Interesting theories will be tested in the southern latitudes... he's got mental and physical fortitude and experience so let's see what happens....

He’s moved on from Corrine Betsy days!
